Order cancelled without explanation
Checked online reviews for this company, as the product I was looking to purchase was $150 cheaper than the usual price, so I was suspicious. I found good reviews and placed the order. Immediately after placing the order and paying, I received an automatic confirmation of the order via email. It was all running smoothly.
Two days after having placed the order, I had not yet heard anything about it being delivered. I sent the company a kind email asking for an update, and did not hear back.
The following day, I received an automatic email stating that the order was cancelled. The automatic email did not have any details as to why the order was cancelled but at least I was fully refunded. I sent the company another email, this time asking for an explanation about the cancellation. In response, the company stated that they did not complete the order because my billing and delivery addresses were different, and because I used a VPN whilst placing the order.
In all my years of buying things online, the above have never been problems. I have now placed an order directly with the product manufacturer, as $150 seems like a fair premium to pay to avoid the sort of incompetence openbox.ca have demonstrated during this exchange. I have made the company aware of this, and the fact that responding to my first email would have clarified the circumstances that seem so very novel and bewildering to them.
I will not be trying to buy from openbox.ca again.
