A terrible experience…

It was a terrible experience ordering from mixam. Don't believe the estimated delivery date and don't expect them to reach out to you if there is a delay in shipping. I was still waiting 2 and a half weeks after the first delivery date and no one reached out to me. Also be suspicious if you receive a tracking number but the shipping company hasn't received your package. Mixam claimed my order was lost in transit, but I'm not sure if they ever sent it or made it. What was supposed to be a special Christmas gift for family turned out to be a complete disappointment.

Customer service issues and interface problems taint overall experience

-Customer service answers messages once every 3 days, which creates incredible frustration.
-The upload system does not adequately recognize naming to place elements correctly. This could be fixed by allowing more power to change the cover pages woth drag/drop.
-I was told to seperate my cover and back cover files which is unusual, given that the tenplate provided shows a unified frontcover/spine/backcover.

Have you considered using our Livechat feature? It's often quicker and can help resolve issues in real time, which may prevent delays like the ones you've experienced.
Regarding the upload system, we offer a drag and drop feature for single files, which seems to work well for most customers. You can also upload one file with all the pages in the correct reading order, or if preferred, upload individual files for each page.
We appreciate your patience and hope that despite the challenges, you're satisfied with the final product.

Delayed Timelines

Kept moving the delivery timeline without explanation to the point where it eventually didn't arrive for Christmas, making the point of the gift rather moot. Although I put the order in early November, I found out a few days before Christmas they hadn't even started on it. They said it gets busy around Christmas, which caused the delay, but it gets busy every Christmas and the estimated delivery date should reflect that. Very disappointing.

Hi John, Thank you for sharing your feedback. You're absolutely right, December is our busiest season, and while we plan and prepare as best as we can, sometimes unexpected issues like machine breakdowns or higher than expected volumes can cause the dates to have to be revised.
We always recommend letting us know about any specific deadlines before placing or confirming an order, as this helps us plan better for you. Sorry that our gesture offer didn't help.

Quality was excellent. Delivery time not so much.

The quality is outstanding. The paper and print quality are excellent. The approximately delivery time was extended for more than two weeks. That did not make me happy.

Incredible experience

Incredible experience, and the print quality far exceeded our expectations. There was a point where we were struggling with the website while trying to get all of our documents in order, and Evelyn jumped on a call with us and helped make sure we were ordering exactly what we needed.

It took 3 weeks from order to…

It took 3 weeks from order to potentially receiving. They are meant to be in today. I will see if they arrive. I was really hoping for a shorter time as it’s just printing pictures. And shipping. I understand delays but I feel like it could have been better/faster.

We’re sorry for any confusion around the delivery timeline. Our shipping dates are estimates, which we aim to make clear on our Shipping Support page, on the order itself, and in the order confirmation email, as all items are bespoke and made to order.
We can see that we emailed you on December 24th to advise that the estimated ship date had been revised to January 5th due to seasonal demand. However, we were able to complete production sooner and shipped your order on December 29th. Tracking shows it was delivered yesterday, just three working days after the original estimated delivery date.
We completely understand hoping for a quicker turnaround and appreciate your patience. We hope you’re happy with how everything turned out, and we’d be grateful if you’d consider updating your review now that the order has arrived.

5-stars for customer service

5-stars for customer service. Got responses within minutes using the chat option. Staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. Printing is overall good quality. I only ordered a singe-copy zine as a gift, and when the cover came with a few mild imperfections, customer service was quick to offer me a free re-print or a discount. The issue-reporting process was super straight forward and they got back to me within 1-2 business days.
Two things to be aware of:
1. The estimated delivery date they give you is likely not the same date that the shipping company will give you. I used standard shipping and Mixam estimated I would get my zine by the 19th, but once they handed it off to be delivered, UPS told me I wouldn't get it till the 23rd. I received it on the 22nd. So don't rely heavily on the estimated delivery that Mixam provides you.
2. If you order a single-copy (as opposed to a stack of zines), the packaging is not as substantial as larger deliveries, and there is a higher risk of your zine being damaged during shipment. You can reach out to customer service before your order is packed and ask for additional packing protection, and they will pass it on to their packing warehouse.

Very smooth process

The upload process was great, it very clearly showed the layout and what the final product would look like. Fast printing time. We were incredibly impressed with the final quality, looked so prefessional.

Do NOT order from Mixam!

Do NOT order from Mixam!! I ordered 40 family memoir books in November for a Christmas present for my family and was initially told an estimated delivery date of December 12, which was then switched to December 22. I didn’t mind the delay initially, I knew there was potential for some delays in December and if they arrived on Dec 22, my order would still arrive in time for Christmas for me to give out to family.

But then, I was given no shipping information or a tracking code leading up to December 22. I’ve left messages and voicemails asking for an update and I haven’t heard back anything from Mixam and now I can’t even leave a voicemail, it simply keeps ringing and leads to elevator music when I call.

I know I won’t receive my books in time for Christmas, but now I’m doubting whether I’ll receive anything at all and if the money I’ve spent is just gone. I haven’t heard anything back from customer service either since the email stating my order was delayed and would arrive on December 22. I won’t have a Christmas present ready in time for Christmas and I’m out hundreds of dollars with nothing to show… Feeling very disappointed, frustrated and stressed about this whole experience. I’m honestly not sure how there’s so many good reviews when I’ve had such a terrible experience, I feel like I’ve been scammed.

We are a bona fide printing company and a high volume of orders during this time of year can impact estimated timelines. All production and delivery dates are provided as estimates, and this is why we ask that any firm deadlines are shared with us as soon as an order is placed, so we can advise on feasibility and options from the outset.
As advised, the order is currently estimated to ship on 31 December. Our team is actively working through a seasonal backlog, and while we aim to meet this estimate, we do ask that you keep an eye out for any further updates as we continue progressing orders.
We’d also like to reassure you that many customers are very happy with their orders, and when deadlines are shared in advance, we’re often able to meet them successfully. We’re sorry this hasn’t been the case here and appreciate your patience while we work through peak season demand.

Disappointment is the likely outcome

Following up on my review of December 22, I have since learned information that makes this situation significantly more egregious and raises serious concerns about Mixam’s business practices.
After finally speaking with a supervisor on December 22, I learned that Mixam ran into problems as early as December 10 and would have known at that time that meeting the original estimated date of Dec 19 was highly unlikely, and even to come within a reasonable window thereafter was also not likely.
They chose not to inform me - no email, no update to my order status (which I checked multiple times during the waiting period), and no warning while there was still time for me to pivot and have the books printed elsewhere.
Instead, they kept this information to themselves. The only reasonable conclusion is that this was done to avoid losing my business, while knowingly leaving me with no viable alternatives once the truth finally came out.
To be clear, Mixam did not proactively disclose the delay at any point. I learned they would miss the deadline only after repeatedly contacting them and escalating to a supervisor—after the promised delivery date had already passed and it was too late to do anything about it.
On December 22, Mixam offered me the option to cancel the order for a full refund. In theory, that sounds reasonable I guess. In reality, it was meaningless. These were Christmas gifts. A refund on December 22 simply guaranteed that I would have nothing to give my family and no opportunity to start over with another printer in time for Christmas.
And if that wasn’t horrible enough, on Dec 22, I was told that they hadn’t even STARTED to PRINT my order.. and that it isn’t expected to begin until “sometime next week” a full ten days after their own ‘estimated’ delivery date – AFTER CHRISTMAS. In other words, Mixam sat on my order for weeks without telling me and without even starting the work.
Yes, they issued a 10% refund – Whoop-de-friggin’-do!!!! That doesn’t even remotely compensate for the stress and frustration of being kept in the dark while my options quietly disappeared, nor for the enormous disappointment I’ll have to deliver to my family on Christmas day!
This is not just poor service. It feels deliberately misleading and frankly unethical.
Had Mixam been transparent on December 10, I could have taken steps to mitigate the situation. Instead, they withheld critical information, backed me into a corner, and left me with no recourse—while holding my money.
So, essentially, my Christmas wasn’t ruined by an innocent mistake or an unavoidable delay. It was ruined by an apparently conscious decision not to communicate, and by a staggering disregard for the consequences their inaction would have on their customer.
If you’re considering having any work done by Mixam, don’t!! Based on my experience, disappointment is not a risk; it’s the most likely outcome.

To clarify, we only ever provide estimated shipping and delivery dates dates as print schedules can change quickly, particularly during peak periods like the lead up to Christmas. Because of this, yes we do advise on our Shipping & Support pages that if an order is tied to a firm deadline, letting us know upfront helps us plan appropriately and offer the most reliable guidance from the start.
We’re sorry this order didn’t arrive in time for Christmas, especially given how personal and meaningful it was intended to be. While we know that doesn’t change the outcome, we do hope you’re still able to enjoy the time with your family over the holidays.
As discussed previously, we offered you the choice to proceed with the order or cancel for a refund, and we also arranged a goodwill gesture to acknowledge the disruption caused. We appreciate that this still hasn’t hit the mark, and we’re sorry for that.

First time user

This was my first time using Mixam and although there were a few website glitches, I got a finished product that I am very happy with. Website is relatively easy to use but they could do a little better with technical and customer support.
All in all, I will be using them again.
