Took payment but they cancelled for no reason
Placed an order for a new phone contract and it was confirmed with an order number. Credit check was fine and payment was taken. Didn’t receive a single email from Metrofone and my order didn’t arrive so I contacted them. They said the order was cancelled but cannot tell me why for security reasons, but it wasn’t because of credit checks. I asked why I didn’t receive any emails, not even a cancellation email, and they said my inbox was rejecting their mail. I asked if I write with a freedom of information request could they tell me the reason for rejection as surely by law they have to, but apparently they will not release this information for security reasons. And if I were to apply again it would instantly be rejected. Hopefully I will receive a refund. But I’m also feeling a little worried as it feels strange to be rejected for no reason and when they throw in a word like ‘security’ you wonder what’s going on.

We would like to reassure you that order cancellations of this nature are not necessarily related to your credit status. In some cases, orders may be declined following automated security and verification checks carried out as part of the order approval process. For security reasons, we are unfortunately unable to disclose the specific criteria or outcome of these checks.
We also apologise that you did not receive email communication regarding the cancellation. From our side, it appears that the emails sent were not successfully delivered, which may explain why you did not receive updates about your order.
Please also be assured that any payment taken for the order would be aborted and the bank will move the funds back into your available balance, in line with the standard banking processing times.
We completely understand your concerns regarding the wording used and apologise for any unnecessary worry this may have caused. Thank you again for your feedback, as it helps us review and improve the clarity of our customer communications moving forward.

Switching from Vodafone was dead simple…
Switching from Vodafone was dead simple and about £10/month cheaper. I was able to transfer apps, contacts etc and I finally have a phone signal, something I didn't have with Vodafone.

Really disappointed
The phone arrived with finger prints on it, including on both lens and a blob of something like food on it. Did not get that new phone experience at all, really disappointed.
