This was my first experience at Madison-Reed. Not only did I fill out the online questionnaire, which should have given the colorist a heads up that I am not good with hair, I explained when I was there that I know nothing about hair, but I did NOT want anything with red or gold undertones. She showed me two photos - one looked like it had undertones. The other she defined as "rich" and it did not look like there were undertones at all. When the color was finished, the gold/red undertones are very evident. On top of that, I paid for a blowout. The person that did that was very kind, but was taken away to wash someone else's hair only part of the way in (I decided to try a "diffuser" for my curls). Washing someone's hair there is not a quick process. They wash it, condition it, massage, etc., so by the time she returned to me, my hair was almost dry, which she confirmed. You hold yourselves out to be professional colorists. We should be able to rely on you, especially when we indicate our lack of experience with color. When I explained to the person who colored my hair my disappointment, I felt like she tried to pass it off on me, and then said I should have a "cool" shade. I wish she had determine that initially. The whole experience was a disappointment, and I would not refer Madison-Reed to anyone. I paid a lot for the same thing I could have messed up myself at home.

Today I visited Madison Reed in Boca Raton, Florida and was 11 minutes late, not 10 like the poilicy states. There was no one in the salon- I was greeted with a nasty rude unprofessional “Manager”- she would not give her name but was a young girl. I asked if I could cut my service back so I could be fitted in, she only said no, she would not have a conversation as she knew I was upset because her explanation made no sense then she proceeded to be disrespectful- she refused to use words except “ this conversation is over” and with her limited vocabulary and self identified power “ I will call security”- not sure what threat she thought I could be when I wanted to color my hair. Madison Reed is not the only salon in Boca Raton and not by far the most wanted. Her people skills, her discourtesy and lack of respect and professionalism makes me confirm that I will never step foot in that salon again- no one pays to get treated that way. I have a membership that I am strongly thinking of cancelling as she also went ahead and charged me and when I inquired about it, I got the same response “this conversation is over and I will call security”.
If Madison Reed wants to pride themselves on customer service- representatives like that should be vetted more closely as she is a poor representative to the company.
I called customer service and after a long hold time, I did get a refund, I got “ I am sorry you had such a bad experience” but is that really enough? A bad experience for a company who wants to pride themselves on women feeling beautiful and having a good experience- I think not.

I have been a loyal customer of Madison Reed for a few years and liked the hair color and always had a positive experience until recently. I triggered my auto ship to ship early and added some additional products to my order. I received a notification on 11/1/22 that my order had shipped, but still on 11/11/22 and actually still now on 11/27/22, the tracking says “awaiting carrier pickup”. I called and customer service was great, the immediately reshipped my order. I received a shipping confirmation and the exact same thing happened. To this day it still says “awaiting carrier pickup”. I ended up having to purchase hair color and shampoo/conditioner locally because I never received my order. I called again and again customer service was helpful, they credited me back my money and the cancelled my subscription, but I’m pretty frustrated that I can’t trust Madison Reed enough to stay a customer.

Customer service deserves zero stars. The girl was not willing completely unfriendly, and oblivious to what I was saying. She kept talking over and not listening. I just needed to have a shipped (not delivered yet !) $84.00 order to my actual address.

I recently tried Madison Reed color because my best girlfriend has been using it for some time and loves it. She has short hair. I have (had) very long thick hair. When I used the product my scalp turned red! I followed directions to the T! And since (about 5 weeks ago) my hair has been falling out in clumps! Every time I brush it. In the shower. Running my hands thru it! My hair is very noticeably thinner! I’d sue if I could! I wish I’d read more reviews before I used this horrible product! To boot, my scalp has been itchy and scaly ever since! DONT DO IT!

One of the worst and over priced hair color I have ever used. Ladies please don’t make the mistake I made and don’t buy it. Any other haircolor is better than this brand. I actually give it a zero, but it is not available. I did everything according to the instructions wasted my whole hour coloring my hair. When I washed it off all my gray hair was still there and showing. What a rip off!

WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE THEIr PRODUCTS AND OR SERVICES!! This is not only a dissatisfied customer, but someone who is losing her hair by the minute Bc of their product, lack of technique and lack of accountability. My hair used to be long and healthy until I went to their store to do my roots and someone there suggested a light application of balayage to cover some parts of my hair that has grown darker. They absolutely damaged my hair to the point of being irreparable.
Not only they ruined my hair, but their customer service is dismissive and sarcastic. They work out of their homes and are not allowed to supply their supervisor’s contact or upper management. - don’t call us, we call you- type of thing. After 2 days begging for someone to call me back, management calls me, listens to my complain and tells me they will call me back with a solution after a few minutes. Well, I am still waiting for their accountability, refund and solution.
My hair is bleached and now it has a brassy/greenish color with a texture of straw. Every time I brush my hair I see my hair falling and I DO NOT (never did) suffer from hair loss. They will probably replay to this review with an automatic written apology saying - if you suffer from hair loss, please consult your doctor and please call us at some 800 number. The CEO should be embarrassed of having a company that ruins people’s hair instead of fixing them when the company’s mission states helping women feel prettier and more confident. What a paradox this is, hum? I tried to avoid this review by expecting a solution when I tried to reach out to them, but honestly my hair is beyond repair and I hope this review reach as many people as possible so they don’t have to go through what I am experiencing right now. PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THEIR PRODUCTS!!!

Finally, today I spoke with someone but now I have to go buy another type of hair dye to get the job done.

I have used Madison Reed from the beginning of the pandemic and found that, unlike many of the other reviews claimed, that it DID cover the grey roots and left my hair in great condition. The other reviews sounded too similar (similar wording, etc.) which makes me wonder if some competitor paid for someone to write bad reviews. The color reviving gloss, which I used when I washed my hair inbetween the times that I also colored it, gave my hair a terrific feel and look. I never found any store-bought brand as good as this brand.

Went in for a root touch up and left with my entire head of hair in a much darker shade. SO UPSET. Wouldn't let them correct it if they offered. And right below they offer🤷♀️ How about you just give me a refund so I can put that towards the hundreds of dollars in going to have to spend to fix this? If you guys can't do a simple root touch up... how am I to trust you with my entire head of hair?!! I've never been this upset about my hair color before. EVER

I have LOVED Madison Reed, so so disappointed with my experience today. I had an appt for 5:45 and arrived at 5:57. I was boxed in a no parking zone outside of the color bar and that was the reason for me being late. When I walked in Shannon the RUDEST person alive said ‘I can’t do your hair, we have a 10 min grace period. I’ll be here until 7 if I do your hair” um, they are open until 7. I said whatever, I’ll take a box of color I guess and asked “will there be any other charges?” She said no, tells her co -worker upon getting my color that “she does the bare minimum and thats it” I asked if I would have any other charges on my account, and asked if she needed anything else for me, she said no to both and I left. 5 mins later I get a cancellation fee applied to my account. I go back to the store to get my cancellation fee refunded where she proceeds to tell me I should have empathy for her, she’s trying to get out early and she calls me a liar, says she told me if she did my hair it she’d have to be there until 8. Stupid ofc, that math doesnt add up, then proceeds to say she has nothing to do with the cancellation fee. When I refuse to leave until my money is returned she says “i will do you a favor then and have it refunded” then tells me to leave because she can’t figure out how to do it with me standing there. The most ridiculous and rude exchange I’ve literally ever had. What a joke of a person. So unfortunate they have someone like that in Cherry Creek, I recommend so so many people to that salon. I ofc will no longer be doing that and will no longer be going there myself. Huge bummer Madison Reed! Fire her and I’ll be back with bells on bringing everyone in there champagne! I’ve had her do my hair before one other time (not by choice) and the worst colorist too, horrible putting the barrier cream in the wrong place, lol! I would have never even made the appt if I knew I’d have her, that’s another bummer about Madison Reed, your stuck with the worst colorist sometimes. I book and pray for the best and besides her have had such a lovely experience. So so bummed to have to find somewhere else but can not chance having to interact with someone like that again. I have been using Madison Reed color for a while. I recently switched to a another/new shade of brown and my hair instantly felt damaged and has since been falling out in clumps. I had soft silky hair prior. Now its dry, brittle, breaking and falling out with clumps. Im devastated. I went to my doctor and had bloodwork… my hormone and thyroid levels are all perfect. I eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Its the product!

After using MR for years, I’ve noticed my hair has gotten more brittle and now is broken all over. I realize hair ages, but the breakage I have experienced all points back to MR. Did you know the no ammonia that sounds so good is actually replaced by a chemical that is even worse for your hair? Yeah, I didn’t know either.

I had gray hair and wanted a change. I filled out the information and specifically stated that I did not want any red in my color. Today I called MR and specifically ask why the directions are having you start mid way and out to the ends when most of my white and gray color is on top. Shouldn’t I start on the top? I was told no start at the back leave it on for 20 minutes and then on the second application put it on the top and the roots leave it on for 45 minutes the process takes 65 minutes. I unfortunately followed the professional consultant’s directions and ended up having red roots which I hate. I also asked why am I mixing 1/2 of the product instead of mixing it all together at once since I didn’t think it would all be consistent. I was told that it was better to mix 1/2 while you wait for 20 minutes then mix the other 1/2. I wish I had read all these reviews before I used the product. Now I regret using this product. I called to get help but I will have to wait until a senior consultant calls me back. I gave 3 stars because it did color my white and gray hair. I just hate the red roots! I wish I had followed my instincts and mixed it all together instead of doing 1/2 at a time, how does that make sense? The bottom is darker than the roots and is not red. After reading some other reviews I hope and pray my hair does not fall out. So far my scalp does not itch which is a sign for me when a hair product is bad for me.

I’m giving them 3 stars because they did try to make problems right with myself and my husband.
I tried the hair color once almost a year ago and scalp was really irritated as well as poor gray coverage. More than likely it was the Ethanolamine which caused the irritation, turns out it’s worse than Ammonia. They refunded my money so cool.
A few months later I set my husband up an account and got him a hair color kit. Spotty coverage, very poorly on his gray. (He has gray roots, I have thin gray strands.) So I contact them and they send him another kit and I just put it on 3 days ago. Now the non gray areas are kinda shiny but darker then expected, a lot of the gray roots didn’t get covered..again.
I actually have better results with Colorsilk or Preference.
At least we got some nice hair towels out of the kits!
Update on 9-26-2022: I really appreciate that they tried to help even more with the situation when they responded to this review. It’s probably just easier for us to use a different brand with less issues.
