JD Gyms - Southend Anmeldelser 

Been to a couple of gyms before JD on purdeys... But this one has kept me coming back for 18 months now. It's always clean almost spotless cleaning staff are amazing. Then you have all the PT's always willing to help and very approachable.
Then there's the people that go there it's a great community. Friendly and that makes a massive difference when you work out alone.
Keep up the great work guys and gals..

Excellent Gym with awesome staff

You can’t leave and come back in, so if you need to go outside for fresh air forget about it.

Really good gym could do with more stair machines

A full multi gym in the woman's section would be great! Other than that.. its great!!!

Clean gym with all the requirements

Very spacious, lots of equipment, everyone just gets on with their sets & enjoys the experience. The only thing that kept me from giving the full 5 stars is that there isn't enough JD staff readily available on the gym floor if you needed them for something

I joined JD Gyms Southend because of the promise of 24-hour access, which seemed ideal for my schedule. Unfortunately, that feature has been a major letdown. After 10 PM, access becomes unreliable due to a faulty external scanner. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue with customer service, I was repeatedly told the problem was due to me using an iPhone—an explanation that felt dismissive and unhelpful.

Adding to the frustration, the main changing rooms are closed for long stretches during unstaffed hours, making it difficult for anyone arriving late to access basic facilities. While there are accessible toilets and showers available, it’s not a practical substitute for the full changing area A.

That said, the gym itself is well-equipped, with a wide range of machines and training zones that cater to various workout styles. The environment is generally clean and motivating, and the equipment selection is impressive.

But for a gym that advertises 24/7 access and premium facilities, the execution falls short. If JD Gyms can fix the access issues and improve transparency around facility availability, it could be a top-tier option. Until then, it’s a mixed experience.

I go in the evenings and the lights are low it's fabulous 👌 music and good tunes help, I have no bad comments at all, for me it's a great experience

Staff are helpful and really welcoming

Went early so lots of parking space, and equipment to use.

Qr scanner doesn’t work, multiple times I am stuck outside I have to wait for another customer to leave gym so I can get in. Staff did not help at all.

Quick and easy

Great gym overall and would be a 5-star experience, but there's a major issue with access out of hours. If no one is inside to let you in, the barcode scanner at the front door doesn’t work, leaving you stuck outside. This defeats the purpose of 24/7 access.

The scanner needs fixing ASAP

I would recommend this, it’s very good.

The environment and the equipment are very good, very big area.
I choose the gym because it is now open 24h.
The down side is the changing room close from 22.00 to 6.00, it is too restrictive for me

Had very good vibes as soon as I walked through the door. Staff very welcoming when I visited, showed me around all aspects of the gym. Spoke about the classes that were included in the membership. The gym is very clean and each time I have been so far I have seen the cleaner. She seems very conscientious about her job and it shows. I have been to a few classes so far and intend to try more when I feel my fitness has improved. Once I have had my induction and helped by a personal trainer, of which there a many you can choose from I shall be well away using the gym equipment, of which there are many. Straight after my visit I went home and applied online and returned that evening for a Pilates class.
