I have to say, this was a lot easier than what an agent will tell you, the fact is I saved $15,000, I showed the home 5 times in 7 days had 3 offers at the end of the week and closed the following months.

I listed the information in Homelister that went in the MLS, it took me an hour or two to upload all my pictures, put in the information from my tax bill, write my descriptive, etc. I allowed for 2.5% buyers agent. I listed on a Wednesday by Sunday agents had brought over 10 prequalified, prescreened buyers. I had 3 offers above my asking price and stopped showing the house after Sunday and just waited for closing, which was completed in 2 months. Yes, Homelister does list all over the country, yes people can see and possibly contact you, but I chose only to have people come to my house with a buyer's agent to only have better control on who came to my house and to cut down on window shoppers. I did not get any of the extra's, took my own pictures. In NY state you must have an attorney so they did what was necessary after the offer. The buyer's agent also kept the lines of communication between me and the buyers. I only paid the 2.5% not the 6% saving myself $18,000.00.

Home lister worked for me. I was able to list my home on the MLS and it sold in just two weeks!
The website was easy to use and any questions were answered by knowledgeable staff in a reasonable response time. I would recommend using this site if you want to sell your home by yourself. I saved a lot of money by being able to set my own commission rate for a relator to bring me a buyer.

Your business model makes absolute sense. Your execution, however, was less than desirable.

Homelister is amazing. The process was so easy that every step along the way I was looking out for something bad to happen because ain't noway selling your house could be this easy. The response time was quicker than I expected. The 2 things I didn’t like.
1. I knew my house value. But I was told repeatedly that my house was overpriced which made me doubt myself. Guess what my neighbor sold their house for $40k more few weeks later and my house was supposed to fetch more than theirs.
2. I paid extra money to get help with paperwork and still ended up paying more during my closing than was normal. For example, we ended up paying half of the buyers title insurance, HOA paperworks which should have been buyers responsibility. I did ask if I was paying only what sellers supposed to before signing the purchase agreement and was told I was. Got a very bad surprise when I got my closing statements. I lost few hundreds ($1500-$2000) there.
So the whole purpose of using Homelister (ie saving money), was lost as I didn’t save any money.

Home lister is a great concept. Very transparent and straightforward process.
