I cannot rate this firm highly enough. I have had to recently seek something from this firm again relating to an old case. I was remembered and my query dealt with fast and compassionately. In a world where there is so much dispassion, the compassion that HK has showed to me over the years as I have faced tremendous struggle has been second to none. Where the stresses were too great, and I stopped eating, when I attended meetings they fed me. When I couldn't face the next day, someone touched base with me. When there was no hope, they gave me a light. I survived my case BECAUSE of the constant care of this team who held my hand through the entire journey. Professional, diligent, honest, respectable and humanistic. A wonderful wonderful firm. I would never use anyone else and I would recommend everyone to use them.

I recently needed to update my will and HK Law were excellent in every respect. In particular I would like to thank Mr Chris Keenan in the Dorchester office for his helpful, friendly and approachable advice, about both my own affairs and also my parent's arrangements. A very professional service, interview with Anna Davey (Southbourne office) regarding purchasing a property in Southbourne was very relaxed, very clear and straight to the point. we were kept well informed by Anna and her assistant Linda of the progress by email as we were in New Zealand most of the time. We needed to update our wills and consider a few other issues as I have found that I now have a very short life expectancy.
Peter Stagg assisted us and was quick and efficient with his advice and the subsequent legal work.
He kindly visited us at home due to my mobility issues. He was very clear on pricing an kept to the estimate.

Lack of pricing transparency and the creation of "abortive fees" that lead to a more than doubling of the original pricing "estimate".
I negotiated reduced pricing for the sale of 5 identical, self-contained flats, to be sold with 5 identical leases.
Mid-way through the sale, I needed to change the name on the contracts from my personal name to my Ltd company name, and am then informed that "abortive fees" would need to be charged and a new instruction obtained, leading to an effective doubling of the original £750 per flat fees on the 3 sales that were going through. When challenged, I was then told that "we don't do fixed pricing, they were only estimates".
On top of this, their pricing apparently goes up the more urgent the transaction. I was quoted "between £3,500 and £7,000" for a simple sale of a freehold property from my personal name to my own Ltd company. Apparently, I had to pay a premium as it was very close to Christmas and other work would need to be dropped. I have never come across a conveyancing law firm that has variable pricing depending on how urgent the work is. I would certainly be interested in finding out whether this goes against the SRA pricing transparency rules!
I was recommended this firm by my selling estate agent and am disappointed with my experience thus far. They are now refusing to do any more work on the transactions until I pay their "abortive fees".
Avoid avoid avoid!!!

Anna Davey, of HK Law, acted for us with our flat purchase. She is the most efficient and hard-working solicitor I've ever met!! So personable, and absolutely brilliant communications throughout. I honestly can't fault her, and would recommend her to anyone who is keen to have a stress-free property purchase or sale

Roger Cole has been exemplary to work with navigating alternative commercial considerations and diligently addressing personal interests on behalf of a mutual client - Has adapted to understanding more complex requirements with ease; Whilst simultaneously delivering the most personable approach. It would be remiss of me not to include special mention to Lauren Costelloe who supported ease of contact and Sam and others who manned the switchboard. You don't encounter this kind of interaction normally with solicitors. Where they are truly exceptional is how they manage direct contact and responses so effectively.
