I booked Old Lakenham for my 40th birthday with 15 friends and had a fantastic stay. It’s a beautiful building, with plenty of space for everyone and terrific facilities — a lovely setting to celebrate together.

The customer service from Group Retreats was excellent. They checked in regularly before and after our stay to make sure I had everything I needed, which felt thoughtful and reassuring.

A really memorable birthday weekend. I’d happily recommend Group Retreats and Old Lakenham to anyone planning a group celebration.

From start to finish you’ve been amazing, no question was too small to ask and the support throughout was much appreciated.

The Castle was fantastic! We celebrated my husband’s 40th there and it did not disappoint! We couldn’t quite believe it when we arrived!
It was absolutely huge! The room options were brilliant, with most being king size with 4 poster beds and beautiful en suites with beautiful views!

The Castle is very well equipped, especially the kitchen!

We loved the lounge and the reception room and the tv room was popular to chill and watch a movie. The dining room was lovely to all eat together.

The absolute fave for us was the basement bar! Pool table, sound system and mood lighting, what’s not to love and the bar itself had a brilliant set up!

Thank you again, we are already trying to plan the next trip back!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Holbecks house for an 80th Family party. There was 34 of us including children from babies to teens. We all loved it. It is full of charm and has lots if different rooms to separate if you wanted to. The grounds and hot tub was amazing only wish the pool was still open as weather was good enough. The checking in and out details were all easy and contact from group Retreats was helpful.
Everything you need is there including a lovely little hamper with some treats.
My only gripe and this has been passed on to group Retreats is that there is no sound systems in dining room or main lounge. It is only available in kids room and speaker cannot be moved. For future it would be better to have something we can connect our playlist to.
Amazing stay will book again im sure.

16 of us (and our dogs) stayed at The Castle in Hartlepool to celebrate my son's 30th birthday.
What an absolutely amazing venue!
Fulfilled our hopes completely... to stay in a real castle is something else!!
Every room was amazing, from the lounges that were extremely comfortable and cosey with the log burner all fired up, to an extremely well equipped kitchen and banquet dining room.
The bedrooms and en suites were also beautiful, many with four poster beds, all beds extremely comfortable.
We made good use of the hot tub and sauna.
The grounds were very well kept, and there is a great walk straight off the site into woods, for around 4 miles, so no need to leave the site at all for the days we were there.
On top of that, the team in the booking office have been brilliant throughout, from start to finish, also checking in by text to make sure we were happy all was as we hoped - many thanks!
We had a meal provided by Chris Allison (one of the caterers from the 'list of suppliers' provided by Group Retreats) - what a star and a gentleman he is! He turned up as arranged to the minute and the hot buffet served exactly on time ... the food was top grade restaurant standard (selected from his hot buffet options), this was the perfect finishing touch for our special family gathering.
I can't recommend enough The Castle, Group Retreats and also Chris Allison! Thanks to you all!

The most gorgeous home - the pictures don’t do it justice at all!
The home was so well presented, clean, cosy warm & a lovely hamper was left for us too.
All the rooms were so beautiful plenty of space for everyone, was spotless too.

Great weekend for our extended family for mum’s 99th birthday celebration. Great location close to builth was perfect for walking in for lunch. All rooms very nice and the grounds were lovely. Made use of the pool and jacuzzi. All in all extremely happy

What an amazing experience we had over the weekend, this place is so perfect, you have everything you need in one place. Can't wait to book it again in future. 10/10

Stayed with a large walking group and we had the best time. Rooms were excellent and the hot tub and pool went down a treat. Being able to sit on the private beach by the river was amazing. It's shallow enough to get in but watch out for the mosquitos!

Stayed at Glentworth Manor for a friends 30th birthday. There was 19 of us and we had a great time. The kitchen was spacious enough to cook for the whole gang and the big lawn provided space for games in the sun. The caretaker David-Lee was also particularly helpful when I mistakenly left behind a very sentimental item, he got it posted back to me the same day i contacted him. Great service and place, would love to come back.

We stayed at Fawley Court in August 2026.
A huge house with the most fantastic swimming pool and games room. Even a baby grand piano in the drawing room. Gardens just amazing. Superb pub 10 min drive away.
Caretaker Ros and Gardner lady helpful, informative and easy to talk to.
Group Retreats easy to book with.

Facilities were great, private, modern and accessible. Perfect for large groups.

Communication from GroupRetreat is spotless.

Our only wish was for wider wifi coverage in the house and perhaps a detailed dust in some of the bedrooms.

Would stay again here.

I am reviewing Harkstead Hall in Suffolk. We rented this beautiful property for my sister's hen do over the beautiful May bank holiday. It was one of the best weekends ever. The location, decor, equipment, garden, pool was all perfect. The home was clean and welcoming. Group Retreats were also super communicative, informative and responsive. It was all over a magical experience and I'd recommend to any groups looking for a relaxed, no stress weekend away.

Fabulous stay for 4 nights at Martley Hall. This is a spectacular and very comfortable base for a family holiday (we were 30). The equipment and furniture is excellent and the games, garden and swimming pool top notch. Suits all ages -- and ideal for our 12 children between 2-14

We just spent 3 nights at Ashfield Farm Place and had a great time. There were 20 of us, adults and children and everyone commented how lovely it was. The outdoor swimming pool is a great size and the children spent most of their time splashing around. The tennis court is excellent, in fantastic condition. There was so much space inside and out and every room was well equipped. Would highly recommend Group Retreats too, their communication throughout was excellent and I’m sure we’ll book with them again one day.

We spent a lovely 4 days at the imposing Alward House to celebrate a 70th birthday. Our 28 guests ranging from 8 to post 80 had acres of space to move around and play games. The pool, tennis court and hot tub, whilst a short walk away, was enjoyed by us all. The whole property was clean and tidy with bags of kitchen equipment and lovely period furnishings, views from the garden terrace were magnificent too. Loath to praise it any more as we may not get booked in next year 😁

We recently stayed at Martley Hall Estate with a large group of family and friends, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we knew we'd chosen somewhere special.

The house is stunning, beautifully maintained, and incredibly spacious, making it perfect for large groups. There was something for everyone to enjoy, and every room was comfortable, well-equipped, and full of character. The grounds are equally impressive and provided the ideal setting for relaxing, socialising, and making unforgettable memories together.

Everyone in our group absolutely loved the experience, and the only complaint was that our stay wasn't long enough! We genuinely wished we could have stayed for several more days.

A huge thank you to the hosts for creating such an exceptional place. We would recommend Martley Hall Estate without hesitation to anyone looking for a luxury group getaway, whether for a family celebration, reunion, or special occasion. We will certainly be back in the future!

I don't always feel the need or requirement to write reviews but given the excellent service I have received from the Group Retreats staff - and in particular Lia - I felt the need to shout out! Thank you once again Lia for making a short breakaway even more enjoyable :)
