Great for diversification and high returns

Overall I like the platform and am interested in P2P as an investment avenue. That said, a few tweaks could have a major impact.
Id like to see a greater number of loans listed, id like to see funded loans finalized quicker. Id like more info on the loan applicants, basic stuff, age, years with present employer, listing of warnings from their credit report etc. You have this and more info, share it. The more info we have the better positioned we are to make an investment. Id like to be able to set my automated investments using more factors than the grading system. IE) by credit score, or by using the filter settings. I want automated investments that match my parameters to be invested in immediately, not at midnight the next day. I want to be able to automate investments for different values depending on the loan parameters. EG) 100 to a grade A+ with a 800+ credit rating, and 20 to a C+ loan with a credit score in the 700's. This is an online platform, weekends should not slow down the pace of underwriting. We should be 24/7. Id like to see advertising by GoPeer, I stumbled across GoPeer, I believe loan applicants are too. Bus stops, TV, Radio, get the word out. I can only find GoPeer by googling P2P. Why? GoPeer should be for everyone, not just those with poor or rebuilding credit. Can we not align with other business' as a preferred creditor. We should consider raising our standards in regards to the Alphabetical ratings. No one whose credit score begins with a 6 or 7 should ever be listed as an A grade loan. If we don't take ourselves seriously as a lender why should anyone else. No one is fooled by a grade of A with a credit score of 650.
This idea is way out there for GoPeer, but how about loans to GoPeer investors at rates of say 2-4%, and GoPeer take rates of 0.5%, providing those loans are then used to fund a GoPeer investment account. This provides investors the ability to leverage/ invest in more loans (loan interest is tax deductible). If an investor can net a least
7% after costs, then this makes sense as an investment. Lets find ways to juice account growth. How about secured loans? Remember investors have options, including the market which has higher returns and lower tax rates (cap gains, were only 50% of earnings are taxable).
With online 'only' banks on the rise (eg EQ). We should be at the forefront of online loans in Canada. Market share is critical as we currently do not have competition. Lets make being the incumbent meaningful when comp does arise. We need to expand our reach in every market and vertical. Our motto should be growth, and our goal sustainability

Many of the points you mentioned like loan availability, refining automation, and enhancing transparency, are areas our team is actively improving. Suggestions like yours help us prioritize what matters most.
We understand the value of additional borrower insights for investors. Our team is reviewing how to safely share more relevant information while maintaining borrower privacy and compliance. In terms of the loan grading system, we don't just base it on the borrower's credit score. Our model looks at a multitude of variables when grading loans like their income, utilization, cashflow, credit history, and a bunch more factors.
As of recently, we have expanded our underwriting efforts. We're now underwriting loans 7 days a week! This is in the early stages, but we expect to approve loans faster and have a quicker turnaround of loans listed on the platform.
We're also enhancing automated investing features to give you more control over allocation. At the same time, we aim to provide helpful guidance and insights around diversification, so investors can make informed decisions about their settings and long-term goals.
We love your idea regarding secured loans and potential investor lending. We're exploring more products and while this isn't currently part of our roadmap, we'll share this with the team for future consideration.

Easy way to try private loans
I've been an investor with gopeer and the platform is setup quite well. The ability to provide micro loans from an individual perspective is helpful. I've been able to successfully deposit and withdraw funds.

Long time investor on gopeer. The platform is easy to use and intuitive. They offer a unique solution to diversify my investment portfolio, which I absolutely love. I also love that gopeer gives me the opportunity to help Canadian borrowers with their debt. The community building/contribution aspect of the platform is truly special. Bonus is my YoY returns have been consistently great. Kudos to the gopeer team for all the great work!

Don't bother
Don't bother! Stick with the Major Banks! Their underwriting is more Strict than the 'A" banks and they charge higher interest. They want their 'Cake' and to EAT it too!

Tried applying for a loan
Tried applying for a loan. The application process lead to a THIRD PARTY WEBSITE - where I was supposed to provide my banking info COMPLETE WITH MY ONLINE PASSWORD. As a former Royal Banker - I know sharing banking info, including password violates security and prevents the bank from being liable in case of unauthorized access to your bank account. Spoke to an "agent" with heavy African accent, who couldn't tell me who the "third party " is, what kind of acess they would have to my banking info, for how long etc. I decided against the application as the company didn't provide alternatives.
Well, thank you GoPeer for your response however, your "manual option" to submit documents is not working - hence my call into the company. No alternatives were offered. When reported - I was pretty much told: "too bad, so sad" Goodbye.

To clarify, the express bank connection option is a secure service provided by Flinks, a trusted subsidiary of National Bank, designed to simplify and expedite the process by verifying your income and banking information in just minutes. However, we completely understand that not everyone is comfortable using this option.
For this reason, we also offer a manual bank connection option from the same screen as the express option, where you can securely upload your ID and banking statements without sharing your online banking credentials.

Great investment alternative
Although defaults could be less, this is the risk nature of an investment platform. I have been with them for about 3 years now and I would definetively recommend them.

Hi there! Those are all strong factors in your favour for obtaining a low rate and higher loan amount. An easy first step would be to complete a quick pre-qualification, which is not a complete assessment, but will provide an estimate, and will not impact your credit score. Another bonus is that following pre-qualification we will share your FICO® Score 8 with you, provided by Equifax; there are lots of different scores out there, however this is the score used by 90% of lenders.
Following that, our team can also dive a bit further with you by email or phone to help better estimate the results, if you would like to do so before formally applying for a loan.
Regarding the amount, if we are unable to approve you for 30k, then you should still apply for that amount, and the team, if unable to approve that amount, may still provide an offer for a lower amount. When deciding the amount there are many factors considered, but the most important is your financial capacity to repay.

Had to give 1 star but they are -5 stars. Absolute garbage. I have a high credit score and any of the big banks will give me loan but these guys denied me. Got a loan from CIBC the next day without any problems.

Hi Ryan! We're sorry to see you were declined and disappointed with the outcome. Your application was eight months ago, nevertheless, looking back at the circumstances, you did have a good credit score, however at the time you were unemployed, and had just recently taken out a large high interest loan from another provider, which are among many of the factors that we consider when assessing risk.
Assuming you have maintained the same or better credit score, and are now employed, then your chance today of approval should be very high, and our interest rate may beat that of CIBC. Please don't hesitate to reach out or apply again if interested.
Disapointed with this company
Disapointed with this company. To many charge offs and defaults. I only choose A and B and it does not matter, they took the money and then decide not to pay even when they have a ver good credit score, it seems so easy to take money from them as a borrower and then not to pay it with no consequences. Please do not invest your money with this company.
