We have recently returned from the trip of a lifetime to Nairobi and a safari in the Maasai Mara. To celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary we took all our family, 16 of us including 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 8 to 17. From the first telephone call with Clare Gane 18 months ago, everything was handled immaculately by Gane & Marshall. The planning culminated in a conference call involving Clare, Mike and Jeremy on the day before we left. As we felt responsible for so many, we wanted reassurance that recently reported riots in Nairobi would not put anyone at risk. The personal touch in reassuring us, having spoken to their excellent ground handlers in Kenya, typified the approach of this fantastic company. We saw no evidence of riots.

As we wanted the family to have an African experience, we stayed at Karen Blixen Coffee House in Nairobi from where we visited the Giraffe Centre, the David Sheldrick Elephant Centre, the Nairobi National Park and the bead factory. That gave us a great introduction to what was to come. A couple of small aeroplanes took us to the Northern Conservancy in the Maasai Mara from where we spent 4 days at the beautiful Karen Blixen Camp. Everything was exceptional! The ‘tents’ were far too luxurious to be labelled as such, the standard of service by the thoughtful and happy staff was exemplary, the extraordinary cuisine was delicious (and also catered for the less adventurous tastes of some of the younger grandchildren), the inclusive drinks from the bar was a lovely touch, and the game drives with our wonderful safari guides were exhilarating and led to us finding the Big Five and so much more.

Everything went to plan in a totally stress-free way. We are very grateful to Gane & Marshall for filling our memory bank. We do not hesitate to recommend the company to others.

Having never experienced Japan before, Mike worked extensively with us over several weeks to craft an unforgettable tour! As our style of travel is self guided, the Gane and Marshall model worked perfectly for us as our accommodations and transportation details were ideal. We were able to enjoy the best of Japan and its culture at an ideal pace!

Thanks to Mike for arranging a comprehensive, atmospheric and wonderful tour of Japan. He listened to our initial plans, provided great feedback and advised us on excellent alternatives. Difficult schedules and transportation requirements were made with ease. The entire extensive three week trip went off without a problem; including the normal tourist highlights and more obscure, niche experiences. It was the deep dive into Japanese culture that we had requested. We would highly recommend Gane and Marshall with any future travel plans.

We wanted a bespoke weeks safari in Botswana followed by a couple of nights at Victoria Falls then on to Cape Town for 5 days.
We explained the type of flights, camps and hotels we wanted together with the things we wanted to do and see in Cape Town. Back came an itinerary which fitted our requirements perfectly. Their knowledge of the area was amazing and the 3 Botswana camps they suggested were brilliant especially Hyena Pan. We like nature to surprise us and do not actively seek out specific animals. It rewarded us with everything and more, with the knowledgeable guides educating us on animal behaviour as we went along. This was the best safari experience we have ever had. The transfers throughout were great particularly the crossing from Botswana to Zimbabwe made easier by being helped and escorted and not even having to carry our own luggage across the border. We really liked the colonial style of Batonka Lodge at Victoria Falls and did the Helicopter Flight, waterfall walk, Bridge and the Outlook Café before an evening dinner and river cruise – what an experience!
Cape Town was a perfect final stop with The Victoria & Alfred Hotel being superb and so well located. They could not have been more helpful or attentive. The wine tour and Cape tour were excellent and we enjoyed seeing the surrounding areas. The food throughout the trip was good !
Everything was so well planned and all we had to do was turn up at Heathrow to be met at our destination where everything was done for us. This made the whole experience stress free allowing us to enjoy the experience to its full.
Once again thank you Michael and Clare for giving us such an amazing well planned and thought out experience – we loved it!

Professional, detailed, courteous & just a fantastic experience from Gane & Marshall.

Clare was very knowledgable and helpful, nothing was too much trouble to confirm, or to change, and we set out with confidence that everythng would be as described. The holiday itself surpassed our expectations; the local guides and staff at the beautiful accommodations were excellent, the planning of the trip turned out to be exactly right, and the whole trip was excellent. We have now booked a second trip with Gane and Marshall.

Gane and Marshall were recommended to us as a travel company providing tailor-made holidays to Africa, and they did not disappoint. We were very happy with the service, advice and support they gave us throughout the whole experience. Clare Gane put together a wonderful itinerary for our family of four in Kenya, encompassing a 4 night safari in the Masai Mara, followed by a 5 night stay in Diani beach on the coast. The safari element was in Speke’s camp - a tented lodge - and was everything we could have hoped for. The tents were spacious and very well kitted out, the food and ambience were great and the staff were lovely. Our spotter and guide were incredible, always going the extra mile to make sure we not only had an amazing animal experience, but also the best spots for sunrise photos, sundowners and breakfast 😀. A wonderful experience overall. We made some very special memories there.
The beach part of our holiday was at Kinondo Kwetu, a boutique lodge south of Mombasa, and a wonderful place to relax after an exciting few days on safari. It had the perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism, and the suites, service, food, ambiance and facilities were of an exceptionally high standard. We would definitely visit both places again.
We had quite a complex itinerary, involving a number of international and internal flights and transfers, and everything ran like clockwork. Clare was a mine of information about the country and the different lodges, explaining all our options and helping us make informed choices. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting to see Africa, would be well advised to start their journey with Gane and Marshall.

This is our 3rd big trip with Gane and Marshall and this was my trip of a lifetime to Peru. Sarah was endlessly patient organising this for us, answering all our questions and suggesting changes to our itinerary. It was a complex trip but everything went to plan. The local guides were outstanding, hotels were top class and don't know how they do it for the price. We had an email night before from KLM about delay on first flight and within 15 mins had phone call from Jeremy to calm me down. The personal service from this company is outstanding and can't recommend them highly enough.

The trip Gane and Marshall organised for us was an incredible trip of a lifetime. Our 3 week trip to Brazil (Rio, Pantanal and Iguacu) and Argentina (Buenos Aires) was amazing. It was a complex itinerary and Sarah helped us make the most of our time. Brilliant planning and fabulous understanding of our requirements - made this the trip of a lifetime. The guides used for our trips were all first class and helped us to feel safe. Everything went absolutely according to plan. I always try to use G&M for our bigger trips and I highly recommend them.

Game and Marshall were very helpful in all stages of arranging our Safari trip to Tanzania ( Ruaha and Nyerere) . We were kept informed and given plenty of supporting information/advice in the run up to the trip and everything ran like clockwork , including transfers and internal flights. I appreciated the fact that he advised where we could save money by booking directly eg with day use of hotel on return journey. Felt like a very personal service.

We travelled to Kenya and stayed at Mara Expedition Camp and Kinondo Kwetu. Clare at Gane and Marshall was instrumental in creating literally the trip of a lifetime.

As someone who is a bit of a perfectionist (OK just a perfectionist!) I am used to doing my own research and booking independently however when I contacted one of the camps directly, they strongly suggested I book through an agent for extra reassurance and support. He also told us they had access to better rates than he could offer direct to us. This was very good advice. I'm so glad I found Gane and Marshall, I will definitely use them again and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Clare took a lot of time to utterly understand the brief and worked incredibly hard to find us our perfect trip. Her knowledge of the area is amazing and she made suggestions and alterations we would never have been able to imagine ourselves. She not only met the brief but totally exceeded our expectations. She was unbelievably patient, there must have been around 60/70 emails between us during the search and she was professional, prompt and incredibly knowledgeable throughout. They managed to get through to the Kenyan High Commission Visa department for us to sort out an issue which in itself is a minor miracle!

Not only was Clare excellent in helping us find the right itinerary and securing it, it was really good to know she was there during and after the trip too. A couple of unexpected issues were sorted immediately by her during the stay.

If you are planning a trip to Africa and you want to make it truly incredible I would strongly suggest you give Gane and Marshall a ring.

Myself and 7 friends booked to climb Kilimanjaro with Gane and Marshall July 2023. From my first enquiry till trip completion the communication, information and guidance have all be superb.

We had a trip lined with Gane and Marshall for a big technical climb up the Batian Route on Mt.Kenya.

Due to the nature of the climb (high altitude, technical and relatively dangerous) we needed to be set up for success and Gane & Marshall enabled that for us. Great communication throughout the booking and preparation up to the trip, logistics and the trip itself are was all 10/10

All we had to focus on was the hard stuff such as the long hikes, summiting several peaks and the 14 hour Batian climb itself.

We had one of the best technical guides (Kim) who took us up the mountain, and our day guide (Eric) was one of the best guides I’ve ever had up in the mountains.

Our trip to Kilimanjaro was nothing short of incredible, thanks to Gane and Marshall. From their excellent communication to expert guides and seamless logistics, every moment was unforgettable. We had a private group of 8 friends and G&M were on hand anytime each of us had questions and provided thorough and detailed feedback to put us at ease. Highly recommended! Can't wait for our next adventure with them!

The simplest way to say it is - Gane and Marshall just get it! We booked our family safari a few years ago with Jeremy who fully understood our budget restrictions and what we wanted to achieve and he nailed it. We had no hesitation in asking Clare to organsie our safari this year and she also absolutely nailed it too! Great service, really helpful and always with our best interests at heart. Just back from artic trip organised by Sarah, rearranged twice due to issues, but Sarah did a fantastic job sorting everything out, twice! had a brilliant holiday and looking at planning my next, would happily use Gane and Marshall again having such a good experience from them this time, timely responses to any queries I had, keeping me informed leading to a stressless holiday, thanks.

Just back from fabulous trip to Japan. Mike Gane arranged everything, he listened to our thoughts on the trip, came up with great suggestions, modified these as we discussed it further, kept to our budget and then planned a fabulous tour. It all worked brilliantly. The travel and hotels all worked brilliantly and the Ryokans we stayed at are an unforgettable experience. The food, hospitality and outdoor onsens at these were just amazing. The guide in Tokyo was great- this really helped the start of our trip and the sushi lunch we had with her was such great value and memorable. I also recommend the bike tour we had in Kyoto - a great way to see the main sights and the back streets of the city. We were very impressed with Gane and Marshall from the start of ideas to our return - it was a very personal service. Great to always contact one person to work through the plan.
