Terrible quality fronts

Customer service was very friendly and helpful throughout the ordering process for our IKEA Metod kitchen fronts. We where able to ordered a sample first, and the final delivery arrived well-packaged.

Unfortunately, the quality of the actual fronts did not match the sample we received. The paint finish scratches extremely easily, making installation nearly impossible without causing visible damage. Some panels even arrived chipped straight out of the packaging.

After raising our concerns with customer service, we were only offered a 20% discount on a future order – which we won’t be taking up, given this experience. Disappointing outcome after what started as a very promising interaction.

We want to clarify the distinction between potential manufacturing defects (which we always honor under our warranty) and damage resulting from use or handling.

If the fronts had arrived with chips, this would have been covered by our delivery claim policy. However, the type of damage you described is typically consistent with mechanical impact. It's important to remember that lacquered finishes, while beautiful, are susceptible to chipping or scratching when struck—they are not designed to withstand impact. This is a characteristic of the paint finish itself, not a defect in manufacturing.

HORRIBLE quality behind nice design

I ordered FRØPT Memphis kitchen fronts in a custom green paint finish last year. While the design is beautiful, the quality has been very disappointing!
And I payed over 3k€ just for small kitchen island fronts.
The fronts arrived already scratched (which I reported immediately), and within just a few months of very light use in our two-person household, the paint started chipping badly. Now, less than a year later, several fronts look worn and damaged.
Despite reporting this issue multiple times, FRØPT insists it’s only “normal wear and tear” and offered me a paid replacement — using the same fragile paint technology. My previous IKEA kitchen lasted far longer without any such issues.
I also noticed that FRØPT has now hidden all review options on Google and Facebook — and after my experience, I can understand why.
I even let them use photos of my kitchen in their marketing when I was still excited about it, but I’ve since withdrawn permission. Sadly, the product does not live up to its premium branding, and I cannot recommend it.

We want to be transparent about the nature of the material: a lacquered finish is a high-quality, elegant choice, but it is susceptible to mechanical damage (such as chipping or scratching from impact). These marks are typically a result of external force, not a spontaneous failure of the paint itself. This characteristic is common for this type of finish and doesn't indicate a quality defect in the manufacturing process.
