Farmfoods, a Scottish family business, has served Great Britain for over 60 years. From a butcher shop in Aberdeen we have grown to more than 300 stores and four distribution centres nationwide. We work hard to bring you the best value on the food your family enjoys and on the household essentials your family needs. In addition to frozen food we sell groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables along with a range of household items. Across our ranges you will find the brands you know and trust at prices you will love. Our specialism is frozen food and we believe passionately that frozen food is the best solution for most family meals. We are a diverse team of around 4,000 people who share a passion for getting a great job done. I will never shop at Farmfoods again! I went to my local farmfoods in Kirkby in ashfield to find that mainly all the meat they sell is Halal. They had a section that clearly stated Halal ok fair enough but then going through all the other meats on the general isles they were all labelled Halal anyway! I will not support this cruel practice in the UK and neither should Farmfoods! AVOID!

I shopped at the Carlton Square branch of farm foods and was disappointed to find that there was no frozen meat that catered to my needs. All of the meat was halal other than the pork. I have no problem if that’s what other people want despite the cruelty but for it to be impossible to find any non halal frozen meat is unacceptable. I didn’t believe this at first as someone notified me of this and I had doubts but after shopping there today, I can confirm that it is true. Won’t bother going back again.
Update following the generic response given to me and everyone else with the same concerns. They mention they have a few non halal products but this should be the main products with halal being the select few. I did ask a store assistant for some none halal chicken and she couldn’t find any so clearly they don’t have a non halal alternative as said within their response. It is shameful that such a big brand have no concern for the welfare of animals or customers and just respond with a lame generic excuse. I’m sure the person who responded from farm foods must in reality be ashamed and embarrassed themselves but the pay cheque is a little more important to them. They say it’s all clearly labelled but it is not on all products. I believe if they told customers as soon as they walked in that the majority of products were halal, they would shop elsewhere. It’s time to make customers aware.

Visited farmfoods in Dunfermline for first time in many years and will be back. Reason I haven't been for years is because I compared it to Iceland but it's so much better, I noticed on my receipt that many of my single purchases were actually multi buys and I saved a good bit money.
I don't eat halal meat and I noticed there were freezers full of it.
All I need to do to not support this is to not buy it, we can't leave negative reviews because of a few freezers of halal meat. There is mostly non halal meat so don't worry folks, farmfoods isn't becoming an all halal store.
Many bargains throughout the store some things 19 and 39p , reminds me of farmfoods from the 90s.
I'll definitely be back, lots of processed and ultra processed food but also many non processed food for example halls pork fillet 2 for £5 no added water just as good as the butchers except the butchers is £7.50 each
I was annoyed that I couldn't get to try the Irish butter I didn't want ten blocks, just one. The milk was 3 jugs for £3, amazing! 15 baby bells for £2.99 I'll definitely be back and friendly staff too

I note from their recent flyer that landed on my doormat that they seem to be majoring in the sale of Halal food i.e. meat from animals that have been subjected to barbaric ritual slaughter where they bleed to death while other animals in the queue watch on in despair as they know that the same fate is coming their way. There is absolutely no need for religious slaughter in a civilised society. Farm Foods should be ashamed of themselves.

Svar fra Farmfoods
Farmfoids are now selling halal food, on the quiet. I do not want to buy halal food. The UK has strict laws governing the slaughter of animals and halal doesn't conform to this. I will not be spending my money in Farmfoods ever again. Businesses should be made to show a sign before you enter the shop showing that they sell halal food. People of Pitsea be warned.

I recently witnessed a truly disturbing incident at the Wavertree branch (29/12/2025). I watched a staff member charge and then physically assault a shoplifter by pushing him into glass cabinets, onto the floor, and then punching him in the head repeatedly while he was on the ground begging him to stop (the shoplifter had not left the store and so had technically not stolen anything yet). The level of violence was terrifying—glass was smashed, and my vulnerable mother was nearly knocked over and trapped against a freezer during the scuffle. She is now suffering from severe anxiety and is afraid to leave the house almost two weeks later as she is extremely vulnerable as it is.
To make matters worse, when I called the police (as the violence was excessive and I feared it was going to escalate given there was glass shards all over the floor), the staff member turned on me, calling me a "grass" and prevented me from re-entering the store to check on my mother who has severe anxiety. I recognise shoplifting is a crime and normally I would be the first to have jumped in to help the staff member if he had used reasonable force to restrain him but this was a full on violent assualt with the intention of causing serious harm. This person is a risk to the public if he reacts like that to stolen jars of coffee. He was not even wearing a uniform and so at first I did not realise he was staff.
I raised a formal complaint with Head Office regarding this gross misconduct and the trauma caused to my family. While they admitted the behaviour was "well outside their level of service," their gesture of goodwill was a £20 voucher. To offer such a small amount after my mother was endangered and I was verbally abused by their aggresive staff member feels like a cheap insult. The impact of this event will be longlasting for my mother and has caused her serious trauma. Customer safety and professional standards are clearly not taken seriously here.

I went to the farm foods in Preston and bought 3 bags of fruit. When I got home I found the bags had an awful chemical smell . The fruit also smelt the same . Is this normal for bags to smell this way?

I visited the Farm Foods in Accrington on December 30, 2025 and had a very negative experience with a staff member named Robert. I suffer from anxiety and depression, and asked him twice for help finding a product near the crowded payment desk. He showed no willingness to assist, which left me feeling ignored and overwhelmed. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in kindly.
However, the lack of professionalism from Robert triggered a panic attack and breakdown as I left the store. This could have been avoided with better customer service, especially for those with mental health issues. I hope Farm Foods invests in staff training to prevent this from happening to others. Not recommended for anyone needing supportive service. 1/5 stars.

Used to be Good Value but prices, lack of value for money seem to be gathering pace. Shrinkflation seems to be kicking in, this is Not Helpled by the lack of money off vouchers based on spend, presently only 2 vouchers seem to be available on any of the emails received!! So No different date or individual voucher codes to support multiple purchases within a month etc, lots of the promotional emails don't even include discount code vouchers now, and lover last month same codes repeated so you you might get 1 X £5 off for a £60 spend & 1 X £2 off a £25 spend, so thats it ,NOT as generous as they used to be , seems that now vouchers are resticted that Iceland could be better value !!

On way to Killie, thought I'd shop local in Galston, went to Farmfoods checked for my trolly token and didn't have it, only had 96p in my purse, shop empty, asked if they had a token as i've lost mine and not enough for a £1 and was in for my shopping and I was told no, so on way to Iceland in Killie who if in need provides a token. I need to go back to carrying money 🤬🤣😂. Don't think I will be back though, shame, it was my first experience of this new shop, anyway got to Iceland and they had a stack of tokens at the till and it was handed over with a smile, well done Iceland.

I only recently started shopping at Farmfoods and now visit at least monthly to stock up my freezer.
Fantastic range of frozen foods- lamb, fish, beef, vegetables etc. Delighted with the ice cream flavors.
I regret not discovering this gem of a supermarket sooner. I now highly recommend it to my colleagues, friends and family.

I don't like to leave a bad review for Farmfoods because they sometimes have great deals on short dated crisps, chocolate, biscuits and cheese, which is the main reason I visit. In fact, the short dated Cadbury's stuff is currently superior to other shops because they haven't reduced the pack size or chocolate content yet.
I have to complain about the fresh milk though. I have been tempted to buy this a few times because of the price. Its their own brand and not sold as short dated but it goes off before its sell by date and this has happened regularly; in summer and most recently last week. Milk from larger supermarkets always lasts us beyond sell by dates and the sell by date is also longer. It may be a local problem in Hereford store and would be interesting to know if this is a national problem because they buy dodgy milk or have a logistics problem.
