El Monte RV Rental exceeded every single expectation we had for our road trip. From start to finish, the entire experience was nothing short of amazing.
The pickup process was smooth, efficient, and wonderfully handled. As for the motorhome itself, it completely blew us away—everything felt brand new and was kept in immaculate, pristine condition.
Customer service throughout the journey was truly flawless. When we unfortunately had a minor accident along the way, they didn't try to play games or wiggle out of responsibility; they immediately assured us that the insurance covered everything without any hassle. On top of that, without us even asking, they proactively decided to issue a refund equivalent to a full day’s rental to compensate for a few minor hiccups we experienced on the road.
I recommend them wholeheartedly and without hesitation

If you’re planning to go camping, I highly recommend El Monte RV. Their RVs are nice clean new dependable too as well.

Not completely satisfied with the choice made on an El Monte rental brand (and for the cost incurred), I expected a perfect camper, but instead there were a series of problems, drawers that did not close (already poorly repaired), cupboard doors that opened during the trip, window blinds not in perfect efficiency, so-so cutlery/kitchen utensils supply, missing some things (tea towels, sheets) that we had not noticed when collecting the vehicle. I am not a camping novice, I have over 30 years of experience, I am the owner of a caravan in Italy, and I have rented campers in various parts of the world, so I can say that these problems are partly due to poor maintenance.

We rented a vehicle from Seattle and whilst we did not have any mechanical issues, we did have some problems with the RV, specifically around routine maintenance that caused us some disruption to our trip. Specifically, we had issue with the black (sewerage) valve leaking which meant a few messy cleanups and us not being able to use the toilet fully (which is supposed to be the point of a RV). We also had issues with the generator, specifically the exhaust falling off whilst driving and this meant we could not use the generator for half our trip. There was also an issue with the shower plumbing pipes coming loose and water leaking. Overall we feel these were basic maintenance issues that should not be causing issues, especially give renting is not cheap. For this reason we have rated relatively poorly. The issues we experienced did cause us some disruption to our trip, which was unfortunate.

The rental process and drop off process was ok, but a bit cumbersome and beware that nothing is for free. Every little extra is charged, even down to pickup and drop-off times. It’s worth just being prepared for this.

A disappointing RV rental for our mid-west trip. I had previously used El Monte but was surprised at the departure in quality of the RV. Upon arrival and walk through, the RV windshield was cracked in multiple places and was being worked on ultimately delaying out departure. The rear view mirror was broken, the fridge door had to be slammed hard shut, the glove box handle was missing, and none of the external storage boxes locks worked which was a pain.

The overhead platform above the drivers seat ripped off and fell inches away from the driver when going through an intersection which was incredibly dangerous. You could see that it had previously ripped out and was fix with shoddy larger screws.

The cruise control would flash an error every hour or so requiring you to stop and power down the vehicle to get it running again.

We had a great time on our first trip but this was a big let down.

Excellent service. We rent every year and it’s always an amazing smooth process.

Absolutely fantastic experience with El Monte! Everything was smooth and easy, and the service was friendly and professional. We were very happy with everything and would definitely choose El Monte again. Highly recommended!

We had so many downtimes, malfunctions and issues with the hotline. A pitty, could have been a nice and relaxed summer with family...

The staff was helpful but the RV had some problems like the battery wouldn't charge on the campground so we lost power when we stayed longer than 2 nights and had to turn off fridge and air-conditioning. They gave us 200USD off but overall we had inconveniences in this 3 week rental and had to throw out lots of food because the fridge had to be turned off. Also the tire pressure sensor was broken. Sp overall 2 autocare stops and it still wasn't fixed. But the RV was big, but the beds were not comfortable.

I was told I could change the location, but that was a lie. They wanted to charge me $5,000 to return it to a different place after I had already left. They told me, even with 6 days' notice, that they couldn't do it. I was scammed. Be careful when hiring them.

I recently rented an RV from El Monte RV Salt Lake City and drove to Yellowstone National Park, so I wanted to share my experience for anyone considering a similar trip.

The initial quote was somewhat misleading because it only reflected the base RV rental price. At pickup, there were many additional costs for liability insurance, protection packages, return convenience options, kitchen kits, linen kits, and other add-ons. Once everything was included, the total cost increased significantly from the original quote.

I purchased liability insurance, the VIP Plus package, and the Gold package because I wanted a worry-free rental experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. During the trip, we had a flat tire. I was told that, based on the damage pattern, it was not considered a manufacturing defect and was instead attributed to my driving, so I was responsible for the tire replacement cost. After paying for multiple higher-level protection packages, I was very disappointed to learn that an issue like this was still not covered.

We also experienced problems with the slide-out. Small items can easily fall into the corner near the slide-out rail, jam the mechanism, and prevent the slide from moving in or out properly. When this happened, it took a significant amount of time and effort to get it working again. Dealing with this in the middle of a road trip added a lot of unnecessary stress.

Overall, the RV experience involved far more unexpected costs, mechanical issues, and hassle than I anticipated. While traveling by RV may appeal to some people, I personally would not recommend it if your goal is a convenient and stress-free vacation. Based on my experience, I would much rather rent a regular car and stay in hotels.
