This company charges exorbitant prices simply because they can, and you're left with no choice. They charge £12.50 to "enhance complexion" on your photos or, in simple terms, to apply what is essentially a Snapchat filter. They also inflate their prices even further should you decide to make additional changes in the future. If you're looking for a prime example of what the mafia looks like, this is a good one.

Where to start with how bad they are. Firstly let's talk about the customer service which gives replies from a "no reply" email to ensure you can't query or challenge them.

Then let's talk about the monstrous arrogance of the photo selection process where if you don't do it fast enough, they will make the decision for you, a paying customer.

Let's discuss the customer service answers that wilfully and consistently refuse to answer the actual questions asked and instead tell you what they want to say.

Let's discuss the probably illegal undeclared contract terms such as only having 7 days to use your discount code if you pay on the day, and if you don't they'll pick your photos for you and won't refund the deposit whether the photos are any good or not. Fair to say I don't trust them to pick the decent ones.

Then let's wrap up with the exorbitant and eye-wateringly expensive shipping - for 15 quid I expect them to be delivered in a Sherman tank.

It would be lovely to be able to say that at least the staff on the day are pleasant and helpful - and the ones in robing are. The photography side of it though seems as hard-headedly insistent on being as truculent as possible as the so-called online customer service.

It's bewildering how a company thinks it can act like this in the 21st century without receiving justly excoriating feedback. No doubt I can be sure of some gaslighting corporate response thanking me for praising the robing teams while ignoring the 95% of the rest of the review that expresses clear and justified dissatisfaction. Oh and the website is like something out of the dark ages, with their pricing you'd have thought they could afford some decent web design.

Ordered a photo-taking package for graduation. The photographer is not very patient. Feel rushed while taking pictures.

Sent me a damaged mortarboard THREE TIMES. The second time I was in correspondence with someone via email to send a further replacement but he stopped responding and I therefore had to call again. When that one came damaged I gave up and ended up walking with a damaged mortarboard. Their ceremony passport app does not work at all (you can't even get past the log in screen), the robe they gave me during my fitting was too small (despite me specifying my measurements in the indicated box during booking), and then they emailed me the link to choose my photographs and it doesn't work - I can't even sign up in the manner it's instructing me to as the option to do it is not on the link in the email. I now have to go back through customer service yet again. I'm upset my university (York) chose to go with this provider and dread having to go through this again for postgrad - if there was another option, I would 100% use it.

Staff were unfriendly and were rude to me. I went a day prior to graduation day to avoid any hassle, and even though there weren't many people, staff were unfriendly and ignored me while waiting, and I had to ask multiple people to get clear instruction. For the price I paid, the least to expect is a smile and clear instructions.

Ede & Ravenscroft were responsive to all my questions. Graduation day itself was smooth - their staff were very pleasant and helped with the gowns. No complaints at all. Thank you for your contribution in making the day memorable.

Graduated from University of Liverpool yesterday and the team at E&R were so helpful. I wanted to keep my gown for an extra night so I could get photos with my kids and Scott was really understanding and arranged this with no problem at all. Thanks for helping me make this day extra special!
