Avoid Dodo Internet at All Costs! - You will thank me later

I made the mistake of subscribing to Dodo's so-called "best" Fibre to the Home package, expecting high-speed internet as promised. What I got instead is an absolute nightmare. The internet speed is consistently less than 5 Mbps—yes, you read that right. Forget streaming, gaming, or even basic browsing—it's like being stuck in the dial-up era!

To make matters worse, their customer support, while polite and friendly, is completely unhelpful. The team is based overseas, and while they are nice to talk to, they clearly lack the tools or authority to resolve any real issues. It feels like a never-ending loop of apologies with no actual solutions.

I have wasted countless hours on the phone trying to fix this mess, and the only thing consistent about Dodo is their inability to deliver on their promises. If you're considering Dodo Internet, don’t. It’s the worst ISP I have ever dealt with.

Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. Dodo might as well be extinct, because their service is prehistoric.

Shockingly bad customer service

Shockingly bad customer service. My gas meter is broken and I received a bill of over $500 for a single person household that only uses gas for hot water. When I called I got told that that seams to be right, wich I told the the guy that my bill is 3 times higher then usually. He then tried to push it back on strata. Which i said I will confirm with them it is the meter and call back. However he then tried to put me on a payment plan to split the cost of the bill over 6 month. Are you freaking kidding me? I hung up and got written confirmation from strata the pipe is not the problem. I forwarded that to dodo, including photos of the meter running over night. When I called again I spoke to some one called Romeo who actually seemed to be really nice. He confirmed someone will come beginning of January and the bill will be correct after the meter is changed. I requested to get a written confirmation via email which he confirmed he will send out. Once not received within 24 hours, I called again and got told that they can’t confirm a specific day via email and it will be within the next 15-20 days. He then wanted to run a health check on my account. I requested a supervisor which got refused and ignored multiple times before I hang up. Overall horrible place. I already moved my electricity to a different company and will do the same for the gas meter once it is running smoothly.

Bad Dodo customer service and empty promises

I recently transferred my electricity and gas to dodo, at the time I was offered a discounted mobile plan of $12.50 per month. At the time I did not require it and was told by the customer service operator that I could call back at any time to get this plan as I am a dodo customer. So today I called and spoke to ‘Jay’ who said that he will not be able to offer me this and I would need to take the same plan offered online to new customers. I told him about my conversation previously and asked about plans for current dodo customers, I also told him that I had an agl account and they offered me a $15 mobile plan as a customer and as the electricity and gas accounts are quite similar pricing I could go back, and he said “well that is up to you”. He also refused to put me in the phone with someone else when I requested.
This was after waiting to speak to a CS representative for 15 mins, being transferred to the tech support dept and then was put on hold for another 30 mins.

This is absolutely disgusting service. So basically someone is lying. Either Jay, who is extremely rude to customers and should not be on the phones or the first person I spoke to that offered me a discounted mobile plan.

Dodo really needs to up their game or get better people on board.

Worst service ever

After living in many countries, I can confidently say that Dodo provides the worst service I have ever experienced. Their customer service is appalling. They charged me for two subscriptions and sent me two modems. To cancel one plan, I was told I had to pay the full cost of the second modem due to their policy.

On top of that, their internet service didn’t even work. After hours of negotiation and waiting, they promised to send a technician. A week later, no technician showed up. When I contacted them again, they claimed they had no record of the appointment and promised to send someone “soon.”

To make matters worse, instead of refunding me for the second modem, they offered a credit which I never received. Guess what? Neither the technician nor the credit has materialized to this

AVOID!!

AVOID!!! For the last 4 years we have had nothing but issues, they cancelled our WiFi 3 years ago and demanded return of our modem for no reason, constant internet issues, someone from their staff constantly removing my acc and the internet off my partners acc so he couldn't view or pay my bill, then this week I requested a landline service they said they don't offer that so we moved over to optus and dodo disconnected our services without being advised to, and if they dare to take one cent from my partners bank account I will be calling the ombudsman

Extremely Disappointed with DODO NBN Service

I ordered NBN from DODO five weeks ago, and they initially promised the connection would take a maximum of three weeks. However, it has now been two weeks past the promised date, and I’m still waiting. Despite calling multiple times, I only get vague responses that they are "working on it."

To make matters worse, I had to wait on hold for 1.5 hours just to speak to an unhelpful operator. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend DODO to anyone. Their discount offers may seem appealing, but don't be fooled—they are not worth the hassle.

I've been a customer approximately 7…

I've been a customer approximately 7 years...in the past year Dodo have been shocking and terrible with daily dropouts. And just today 26/11/2024 was one of them horrible drop out days.
I have been looking at other providers, but unsure if I will have the same dramas, so I'm only holding on with Dodo until I see a provider with good reviews and quality for the money and without the drop outs like terrible Dodo...I'm over Dodo 100%

3WEEKS..and counting to get wifi

Waited 3WEEKS to have my internet installed we had a man come to install our internet and he simply said he can’t put it in and he’ll come another day, we booked another day and I went on to my dodo to see if he was still on his way to see he had cancelled the appointment and rescheduled it for another week. I’m still waiting on my wifi. Absolutely ridiculous service I would never recommend dodo to anybody unless they were a opp

Their billing

Their billing , and their phone service is not worth it.There are other reasons too that I will not enter here.The worst thing here is I have 2 bank statements showing my 2 payments I made, DoDo (oh doh) demanding payment (they they said did not go through) Well today I receive an email from them,telling me I do not have an account with them!! How stupid are this lot .Use DoDo, you invite misery into your lives,!!!!

Their support are 99% useless, they send out emails to help which are incomprehensible and meaningless.
Dodo make it impossible to cancel mobile phone service.
Their website is absolutely useless and confusing. Heck I have been an IT support for 200 people and used computer and mobile since the inception, I use 6 laptops, 3 iPads, three mobiles etc
To stop them charging me I will have to cancel my Visa Card which will result in me not having it for a week and then having to contact all the payments I have missed with an apology and the new credit card details.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible. I switched from Telstra, and the internet connection went from great to very poor. I am using the Telstra Gen 2 modem, and I am experiencing drop-outs on day 2.

Being an IT professional and working from home, this is a real kick in the guts for trying to save a few bucks on my internet. Will have to jump on the phone to try and sort this out tomorrow.

Dodgy Company

Paid for 50mbps connection, the first night it was connected I did speed test and got 55mbps. Great.

Every single day since it has been capped at 20mbps which is their cheaper plan, yet I am paying for the uncapped plan.

Called to complain and get the limit taken off my account and was told all kinds of stories to try to manipulate and confuse me into thinking it was somehow my fault.

Called in an IT tech to assist me, and sure enough, Dodo was limiting my connection speed. Days of my life wasted on this issue and no assistance or support provided by Dodo whatsoever.

Avoid at all costs.

Should’ve Gone Extinct with the Bird

Moved houses a few months ago, and we were told that our internet was ready to go. Told us the connection type and said all we’d have to do was plug in the modem.

They decided to leave out the fact that we also needed a custom username and password which we had to call customer support to get (which was an hour long phone call), and we needed to change multiple advanced settings with information I couldn’t even find on their website, yet it was the only way to actually connect to the internet. So after searching the depths of google and spending 3 hours trying to set up the modem (including trying to get customer support to pick up the phone) we were able to connect to the internet. It was slow and kept dropping out, but eventually was stable.

But now, we’re having to move houses again, and after telling them the exact date we needed the internet to be switched over to the new house, they decided to do it the day before, at 11am.

I’m a student, currently studying for my HSC, and my parents work from home. We all need the internet and the phone service is that bad where we live that it took 5 minutes for me to load this website on my mobile data. And even though they’ve switched it over, the internet won’t even connect at the new house, so I’m going to have to go through the entire process with their “support” team again.

If you’re looking for an ISP, choose anyone but these guys.

Their service is as good as the bird’s survival skills were.

Appaulling customer service

Been a loyal customer with DODO for more than 12 years.

The off shore staff play games when you complain and ask them to address an issue.They make noise in the background to annoy and get a reaction.

As a customer you cannot speak to a supervisor ,as they are NEVER available !!!

You get told someone will call you back.
You Never ever get a return call back.

Australia has out sourced the services to the Phillaphines.

What about looking after your exsisting customers DODO Australia, instead of paying for advertising to get more new customers.

Your customers would stay loyal if they are treated with some respect.
I was told today by a male staff member of Dodo today, if i am NOT happy withe service provided ,i should look for another provider.
How about clear communication and not this stupid 6mths loyalty discount ,where every 6mths you have to enter on your calender to call them .
Reminds me of GROUND HOG DAY !!!!

I need to get some free time to start looking at other providers and what is offered, over the next few months.
Angry and frustrated customer.

Maybe DODO needs to appoint and pay for someone to read reviews and to improve their services.

Shame shame shame, the way Australia has created problems for customers !!!

Would give zero stars if I could

Would give zero stars if I could. Dodo disconnected the internet line to my address and refuse to send a technician to fix it. Was told that they could fix it if I changed my service to dodo. Was then told I couldn’t change my service to dodo as my address doesn’t exist. I’ve had internet for four years before the Dodo technician disconnected it. Filed a complaint, was hung up on twice. Filed another complaint and I was told I would be called back in a couple of days. No calls a week later. They have no tracking of where my complaint is up to. Meanwhile I’m still paying for a service that I can’t access as Dodo have disconnected my internet line.
I’ve been bounced between sales, billing, communications, and I was told to ring the NBN line. No department knows what they are doing. Terrible service, would not recommended Dodo to my worst enemy.

Do not use

Do not use. I Canceled our account a day into using there internet due to them being unable to provide a fast internet service to our address which they said they could on sign up. It Has taken over a week and 15 calls with hours on the phone waiting to get them to release the line so my new provider can connect for internet. Absolute joke . Liers and time wasting aholes.

Im on Dodo NBN50 mbps plan

Im on Dodo NBN50 mbps plan, but i only received 18-20mbps. There services not good. Internet was too slow. I called already their technical services but they didn't even increase my internet speed.

Dodo is incompetent.
Weeks ago I arranged for for my internet to be switched to Dodo. The activation day was meant to be 1 October. That was important as my current NBN with a different provider was to be disconnected on 2 October. When I had not received my activation email by around midday I queried Dodo why not. After much running around I was told that my activation time was 11:30pm AEST 1 October. I was aghast. That was cutting it too fine. I was told that could not be changed but that I did not need to worry as it would happen automatically. Well here we are at 12:28am AEST and I have not been activated. So I will now lose my internet and as I do not have an active NBN when they go and try to activate later today I will be without internet for many days.
Customer support is useless. That occurs out of a call centre in the Philippines and they are utterly clueless, but always so sorry for my inconvenience...

ADDENDUM
I received my activation email around 8am on 2 October. Fortunately, my previous provider had not yet disconnected me.
It was an unnecessarily stressful experience, which to their credit they did acknowledge with more than just a "sorry" as they gave me a credit so that my first month is free and so for that I have upgraded them one star.

ADDENDUM #2
I have now been with Dodo for one year. Their customer "support" is woeful. Every occasion (about 5 or 6 times over the journey) has been an exercise in frustration starting with the most clunky and inefficient "support" interface ever which is compounded by clueless or lazy (or both) "support" personnel. I have downgraded them to one star. What was I thinking staying with them this long???
