Terrible disappointment
I purchased 3 of these they looked so impressive...2 for my kids and one for my best friend. We are all jewelry makers. The bits all suck. I couldn't engrave on a piece of bone, on glass, and barely even on wood without the motor dragging almost to a halt. I hate wasting money, don't waste yours

I love my Caliau
I love my Caliau, I do a lot of detailed work in 3D printed resin. This device allows me to access tight spaces that I can’t access with other engraving tools. I love it so much I bought two so I don’t have to stop working when my Caliau needs to charge.

Used once
Used once, was just trying to get used to it. Didn't use for long. Next try, it quit working about 10 minutes into it. Would turn on after that but turn off when the bit hit the wood. I emailed support and never heard anything back. That was several months ago. Disappointed I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. Pulled it out yesterday, battery was still charged at 88% but WILL NOT turn on.
So disappointed that nobody got back to me. What a waste. I so badly want this thing to work but I'm not buying another one after this experience.

Great pen but the battery doesn’t last long
I really enjoy using the pen and it does a good job for random arts however the battery only lasts about half an hour

I received an incomplete defective unit, no resolution
I received an incomplete unit that was missing the grub screw and the hex key. I'm also skeptical about the carbide bits as they're not performing as they should per the MOHS scale, and several of them don't even fit in the base unit. I have been in a loop with customer service for almost a month now trying to get the grub screw and the hex key. nothing has come to me. I have tried to get a replacement unit, and keep being told to wait. I was also told to grind down the bits that didn't fit myself, or consider buying an adapter.
I'm not sure what this company thinks customer service is, but it's not convincing your customers to accept an incredibly defective product or fix it themselves instead of sending replacement immediately.
and I hope this gets resolved or else I'll have to go to the attorney general of your state.

I am a scrapbooking card making diva! I have many "toys" that I use and was very happy to engrave my name and phone on them in the event that I loan them or someone takes them, "God forbid". We've cataloged many of our personal items. It is so easy to use and hold.

This makes carving fun
I am a knife carver, an amateur at best. I have always had problems with the eyes and the detail required to make a great carving. With the hand carver it makes trying to get the details a little easier without really worrying about slicing or stabbing yourself.
The only drawback I have found is the length of time carving before you have to recharge, but on the overall experience it is worth the cost.

Great for the short time it lasted…
I really enjoyed the customizer for the time it worked. I bought two, one for myself and one as a gift. After a few months mine started needing to be charged after about 1/2 hours of use, then stopped working even with full charge unless I hold the button down constantly. Even with that if it goes in the wrong position it just stops and I have to set it back on the charger and start over. I really enjoyed while it worked and found it extremely useful, however now it is more trouble to use it than any time-saving or convenience it still maintains.

Enjoyable
After two returns because of battery issues I still give my culiau four star's. As a artist with major health issues its perfect for my detailing design work. The one I have now needs charging often but hanging in there. I use it during live events and it attracts needed attention.

If other tools are too large for your work.
I love this product as it is small and fits in my hands. Larger engraving tools were very clumsy for me. I am engraving on glass and perspex so not all the drill bits are useful for me but there about a dozen that give me a range of effects.

Disappointed. I have watched alot of the you tube and had high hope that these tools would be perfect for the areas my laser engraver can't reach. Have played a little trying a couple of the tools out but just can't get the results i was expecting. I love the portability and wondered if i should have ordered different tools, but actually think this isn't the right tool for me.
