Great experience
I’ve ordered quite a few plants from Claire Austin over the years, and always been very happy with the quality and with the packaging and delivery. One of the few nurseries/online plant suppliers that I have recommended to other people.

Pleased to hear that you found the plants very good and that they arrived quickly and in good condition. Hopefully your good experience will encourage another order with the P&P cost remaining the same regardless of the number of plants ordered. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Happy gardening.

Strong, healthy plants, beautifully packed
Nice friendly and helpful website, offering plants that are grown outdoors so are always strong compared to some of the cosseted plants you can buy from the garden centres! As always the plants in this order were strong, healthy and beautifully packed, and they reached me quickly so were not stressed. Thanks once again Claire Austin!

Very happy with all the plants I received. They may not look much at the moment (March), but new growth is evident and all seem to be doing well in their allocated places. Good variety of plants and they arrived well packaged, not to mention good size too. All around a good experience.

Svar fra Claire Austin Hardy Plants
We were sorry to hear you believe two of the plants in your order died after having survived the winter on our stock beds and having been sent out as live plants with healthy roots. We state in our planting instructions that plants should not be left in heated glasshouses as this can soften growth and make the plant more susceptible to weather when placed outside as well as increasing the likelihood of under watering of moisture loving plants such as the ones you ordered.
We hope your experience does not detract from the continual learning, enjoyable experimentation and pleasure that gardening can offer and which we have enjoyed over the decades.

Four years ago my granddaughter was born and they called her Violet. Since then I have bought various Violet Odorata, even going to specialist nurseries and buying what were described as 'Parma' violets. None were very smelly. But your ones are. Which is wonderful. Thank you.

Did not expect such a bad quality
Did not expect such a bad quality from Claire Austin. 3 peony roots have been ordered, 2 came very small (very little dry roots approximately 6 cm) one of them Pastelegance for 125£. I could not believe my eyes when I opened the box. I’ve ordered peonies before from Dutch online shops in UK and they were much better and cheaper.

Svar fra Claire Austin Hardy Plants
We were sorry to hear of your disappointment especially in relation to Peony 'Pastelelegance' which is a hard to come by and special peony. Peony roots vary in size by type and variety. The size of the roots supplied to you is, in our opinion as commercial growers for decades, in line with seasonal expectations.
It is unfortunate that you did not choose to return the peonies to us for a refund as offered. We didn't feel asking for the return of the order prior to issuing a refund was unreasonable when the value of the plants and rarity of varieties supplied was taken in to consideration. Peony collectors that had missed out on securing a Pastelegance due to the limited availability would have been delighted to receive your returned plant.
We hope the peonies have now been planted and will thrive, putting to rest your concerns as to the size and vigour of the healthy roots supplied . As a British, family owned nursery, peony lovers and holders of a Plant Heritage National Collection of hybrid herbaceous peonies we are saddened to hear your expectations weren't met. We hope that peonies form a part of the great enjoyment that can be derived from your garden in future.
We thank you for taking the time to write to us again.

Excellent service
As usual, Claire Austin produces excellent plants always in good condition on arrival. I welcome her emails advertising new plants but, sadly, can't always buy at whim as I would have nowhere to plant them!
A very dependable plant producer and orders are always packed and delivered with care.

Healthy, well established plants
The plants I ordered arrived very well packaged, in pots and modules to prevent soil loss in transit.
The plants themselves were very healthy and well established, with a good rootball, the compost was moist. Immediately planted out and they are thriving. The updates on despatch were very helpful and they arrived on the date promised. Wouldn't hesitate to order again.

Perfect plants, perfectly packed
It goes without saying that the quality and selection of plants from Claire Austin is outstanding. I started with a collection to fill a border, more recently I have returned again and again for specific plants. My latest purchase was for 6 Sanguisorba Officinalis. The beautiful healthy plants arrived within days of order and in perfect condition. Congratulations too, on the packing. The plants were completely protected with minimum wastage. Ie. The box was a perfect size and didn’t include or require masses of packing material and a trip to the recycling centre!

I have placed a few orders with Claire Austin. They are very quick at despatching on the whole and I really like the way they package the plants . It doesn't take ages to get them out of the box unlike one of their competitors.
The quality of the plants are really good too and not too small. Their planting information is also very good.
