Company trying to take money after no delivery for almost a year
I used to be a huge advocate for Birchbox, I was a subscriber for many years until the box delivery suddenly stopped and the company simply disappeared. I had paid for a subscription for a year in advance and only received 2 of these boxes. I just chalked it up to poor luck and forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago, when my bank informed me that a company called Birchbox had attempted to take almost £150 from my account (presumably the cost of renewing a year's subscription?) and it was flagges as fraud. My card was blocked and Birchbox attempted to take the payment four or five times over the course of a week. I am in contact with the dispute team of my bank now, but they won't unblock my card before resolution due to it being high risk after multiple payment attemps flagged as fraudulent.
It's bad enough that we were left with no refund or recompense for yearly subscripstions unfulfilled, but how are they now taking money? The company went under, where is this money going? It is beyond inconvenient that I am blocked from using my card, I have monthly payments being declined because of this nonsense. I appreciate there is little point in writing this, because anyone reading it will be in a similar position to me, but this is extremely poor.

Would give zero stars if an option. Takes money without authority and doesn't deliver. Run a mile from this company. They don't answer queries, just send bulk standard response. Still no boxes received. I've had to cancel my bank card to stop them.
Avoid like the plague
They charged my card despite me telling them I went to a competitor and I no longer wanted their boxes, but they were insisting on sending me a box.... NOT THAT I GOT IT! Still waiting on my June box to be delivered, I was never charged for July or August even though I had three months on my subscription still to go. So are they just ripping people off now or what? I have got fobbed off twice on email, given the excuse, "it's on its way" with a reference number that means absolutely nothing. I have no done a chargeback through my bank and I hope to get my money back.
When they boxes do arrive though, they are not great. It's always the same every month. I have enough highlighters to last me a lifetime! Go to Glossybox. Much, much better and always arrived so well packaged and the stuff they send are great. No complaints there.
I can also see they are manipulating this page to show only two decent reviews so this review might not even be seen but at least this is another 1* review!
Don’t deliver and then delete your account
Paid for a year’s subscription last year. Didn’t get the promised October ‘23 box and then all boxes stopped. New company took over and promised boxes would start up again from June ‘24. Also, said if a box had been promised and not sent out this would also now be sent. I got an email back in June saying my box should be sent soon and since then nothing. No boxes and no further communication. Tried to log in today only to find I couldn’t sign in. I have a password manager so knew the right details were used. I tried to change the password only to be told that there is no account linked to my email address. Total fraudsters.
Financial fraud
Absolutely terrible. I cancelled my subscription last year due to decreasing quality of products and erratic deliveries. They then took an unauthorised payment from my account this year. Terrible customer service from the new owners of the company, nothing but lies and falsities. New customers avoid at all cost and old customers please check your accounts for fraudulent activity. This company can not be trusted with your details, demand your legal right to erasure and ask them to delete your details! Con artists and thieves!

How this company has been able to take so much money from people without consent and not deliver the goods is unbelievable.
I contacted their service team who were very nice and gave a very good response but still waiting to receive a refund - the boxes I imagine do not even exist! I also found their website to be shocking and I have only been able to turn off my auto renewal once they took my money!!!
New owners!
I had a bad experience with this company. They went bust and new owners took over. I was very annoyed when they took my money despite me cancelling. Within a day though they got back to my email, apologised profusely, refunded my money, cancelled my account and ordered me £10 credit if I want to return. The June boxes are running very late, but give them a try. They’re cleaning up someone else’s mess and trying their best.

To each and every one of you that has been defrauded by Birch Box in the last couple of months (although I believe that all of us had the false subscriptions taken from our Bank Accounts on the same date June 28th 2023)!
Please report this action to your Banks or Building Society and also report the action to the BBC Watchdog in order that no one else will be scammed out of their money.
No company should be allowed to withdraw monies from Bank Accounts without consent, plus the fact that Birchbox have not and will not be supplying the promised Boxes - no matter what they respond in their emails!

Same as all the others. They have taken a 6 month subscription cost when I had cancelled. They are not replying to me on any platform

Have taken money without my consent ! Have just had an alert from my bank as £145 taken without any authorisation or consent. Have contacted my bank but alarmed that this company have been able to do this ! As with all other reviewers, I had stopped receiving boxes and have had no communications since.
I do not have a DD set up with Birchbox and have now had to cancel my card as can only assume this is how they have managed to take the money.
Update - I have contacted the support team and they have been so far extremely helpful. They have promised a refund and have confirmed by email so just waiting to have this transferred back into my account !

Received an email few months back saying restarting birchbox and I would receive my Oct22 box which they were due me. I then got an email saying dispatched but still haven’t received. Then they took payment for a June box told me I was in a queue and I would receive both boxes in the next week. Still haven’t received. Today they have taken a further 12.95 from my account. I have now stopped my subscription and. Locked payment on my bank account.

Taking money with jo consent after ceasing services
They went bust and then without notice announced it. Hence I assumed all subscription had stopped but I have noticed in June they have taken out of my bank subscription amount. I assumed they started back up but went on today again to their website as they have taken another payment and their website doesn’t work or seems to be down. I have still emailed and tried to cancel - don’t know if that has even worked but notified them of this matter that without my consent they have started taking payments. It seems they are taking money without sending me boxes and they have not asked me for consent. Same as lady below they seem to have continued to take my money without verifying the DD?!

Don’t deal with this company, it’s a total scam. They are stealing money out of peoples accounts. I signed up last year, received one parcel and nothing since. They create false tracking numbers and have no way of contacting them. How do I stop them taking any more money??? This is incredibly upsetting.

This has now become a scam company. Took my money and said that the box had been sent. Tracking number doesn’t exist and no box nearly a month later. No reply to several emails sent. Had to raise a dispute with my bank who have refunded me the charge.

Took money out of my account for my alledged october 2022 box? They stop trading and then think they can just take people money 10 months later? Ive contacted to no avail? They took money 19 days ago and sent nothing? I did not give permission and outraged that they would do this? Seems there is alot of unhappy customers who are in the same boat. 😡
They generated a EVRI tracking number that dosnt exist pretending theyve sent boxes? Seems calculated the fact they have done this and set up to take peoples money? Robbers and theives.
Similar to other recent complaints
Company went bust last year and I was still owed one box that I paid for and never received. Recent email (26/6/23) to say that this owed box was being dispatched and an Evri tracking reference was provided, the reference isn’t recognised on Evri even today (14/7/23). Another monthly charge has been taken from my account also for this month. The link within the email to contact customer services doesn’t work, they have prevented anyone from commenting on their social media posts - likely as there are so many issues. My old web account is limited and states that the website is still being worked on, I can’t delete my information/cancel the account and they aren’t making it easy to get in touch with them. Guess I’ll have to ask my bank to be involved and dispute the charge

Taken money from my account in June 2023 for a box in October 2022 said they have posted it gave a tracking number not recognised ! Did not give permission to restart subscription with new owners. I’m assuming I will have to do a charge back grrrrr
SCAM!
They tried to renew my subscription even though I'd cancelled! Over 2 weeks ago said they had posted the box I was owed from Oct 2022 no sign of box and the tracking number is not recognised
