The marketing for high yield savings accounts is misleading. It wasn’t until after I opened one and deposited money that I found out there was a high monthly direct deposit requirement to get the advertised 4% rate

I've heard great deal of recommendations online about the high yield interest rate for Axos checking and savings account. So I've opened up both (Axos ONE savings and checking bundle) over 18 months ago. I was told that as long as I meet the requirement (having enough qualified direct deposit into checking account) then I'll benefit the 0.51% APY on the checking account and 4.51% APY at that time on the savings account. Since then I've been diligently monitoring to make sure the DD made into the account, I've also wired other money to put into savings hoping the high APY would kick in. However it's been frustrating to ever receive promised APY as advertised online. I even reached out to the bank and spoke a rep in January 2026 and was told that as long as I keep up the requirement, APY will be automatically applied to my accounts, but it never happened. The final trigger is March 2026 when I saw the monthly interest was merely $24 over $30k of balance for the entire month. This is less than 1% APY whereas your advertisement promised 4.51%. Now I am ready to move on from the bank completely, and wanted to make sure you are aware of my situation. This feels like a scam to me, unfortunately.

Absolutely horrific experience banking with them as a small business. Completely unable to send ACH payments as the page simply doesn't load. Unable to access transaction history in certain accounts due to the same issue. We have been forced to pay $15 each to send wire transfers instead of using the "free" ACH payments as a result. Customer service at first told me that it was a "me issue" despite it occurring across multiple devices and networks. They then acknowledged their mistake but simply stopped responding to my support messages and months later I still have no resolution or update. I am in the process of looking for other places to bank as a result.

Worst banking experience ever! After 2 months I'm in the process of closing the accounts. The online app doesn't work most of the time, I had to send several emails just to get money deposited into the account. This was after having to contact them twice because they opened four accounts in my name instead of 2. Then they miss state the requirements for boosting the rate to the maximum by claiming you have to make the direct deposits to the checking accounts and not the savings. Not really the place I feel like trusting with a couple hundred thousand dollars.

I really do appreciate the quick response. Here is my response to your response. First I looked for a verification all over the website and did not find it I even tried to copy the accounts details page which I could not do. You're right that is something that I should have been able to get online. As a healthcare administrator we required direct deposit. 90% of my staff did not have checks. They brought in these verification letters all of the time and I guarantee you they were not being charged. But you're entitled to your policies. I just won't pay such fees. When all that is required is a routing number, an account number on something with your logo. That is not a specialty document.
I have an account with a large balance. I am moving and I do not use checks, it is 2026 afterall. I am signing up for electricity and they require a voided check. When I was working, banks provided proof of account and details for this purpose. After waiting on chat for a long time, they said they would send me a message with the information but it would cost 35.00. HOW DARE THEY. MONEY GRUBBING FOOLS. After the move, I will be looking for a new bank.

Once things started moving, they moved very smoothly. But it was a little difficult for me to keep my creditor at bay telling him this is going to pan out any day now.

Overall, I have been very pleased with Axos Bank. They have very competitive interest rates. The website and mobile app are very easy to use. My service experience has been excellent. My biggest complaint is that they will not interface with Quicken so I can auto-download all my account activity. I sure hope they change that last issue. If they did, I would give them a 5-star review.

So, I have been with Axos for several years now (8?) and I’ve never really had any issues until recently. In the past if I lost a debit card it was easy to go into the app and mark it as lost and it says they send you a new debit card within 7-10 business days, but apparently not anymore. I lost my card, marked it as lost/stolen via the app and then I waited. 7-10 days came and went and no sign of my card. I thought it would be fine because there are ways to connect your bank account through PayPal and other apps so I can still make purchases as needed. Well then that has been blocked as well. So no card and no other way to access my money. So then I have to talk to their AI customer support that is completely useless when it comes to anything out of the usual. Finally I’m connected to a human, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, OF COURSE! So I then have to struggle to understand their broken English to get some resemblance of help with my problem. She gets my info and tells me my card has been canceled, as if no I didn’t already know and I asked what was going on with my debit card that I should have received by now. She said she would have to place an order for it! So, now I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can access my money! Completely ridiculous! I’m definitely going to look for a different bank to do business with!

I opened my account because of a Facebook post which offered 4.21% interest for the savings and .51% interest for the checking. When I looked at the interest for the savings it only said I was receiving 1.1% interest. If that doesn't change I won't be keeping my accounts very long.

To be honest, Rana was the single most friendly, impressive, knowledgeable, and informative bank customer service representative I've had the pleasure of dealing with in many a year. Sadly, and while I would assure you that I am in no way xenophobic, UFB DIrect's use of the many young ladies obviously living in some unknown country and having limited English language abilities has been a major source of frustration in my experiences ever since I first began to bank with UFB Direct. Rana is a "keeper," and should be the standard to which all other banking reps should be trained and expected to conduct the bank's business.
