I am not impressed with my autel scanner. Nothing on how to use it, but did find out i have to sign up for two applications and pay their monthly fee. Plus a yearly fee of $500. When the yearly subscription runs out you can’t use it on certain brands. If you call in for any reason the person on the phone sounds like they have no soul and doesn’t care about your problem. Maybe because all the disappointed customers. Maybe good for a busy garage, but not a DIY’er. Too costly!

I am very disappointed with the Autel MS906 Pro.
After 1 year and 8 months of normal use, I accidentally performed a factory reset. Following the reset, all diagnostic software was completely removed, and the device became unusable. I was then required to pay for new subscriptions just to restore basic functionality.
A professional tool should not become useless after a simple factory reset. Being forced to pay again to use a device I already purchased is extremely frustrating. I cannot recommend this product based on this experience.
Be Aware: Device Becomes Unusable After Subscription Expires
I purchased the Autel MaxiDAS DS808S-BT for over £400, believing I was buying a professional diagnostic tool. I understood that subscription renewals were required for software updates and support for new vehicle models.
What was not clearly communicated is that once the subscription expires, the device can completely block access to diagnostic functions. It now forces a WiFi connection at startup, verifies the subscription with the server, and then locks all diagnostic access due to an expired subscription. There is no option to skip activation or operate offline.
In practical terms, this means a £400 diagnostic tool becomes unusable unless you continue paying annual subscription fees.
I use this device occasionally (about once every six months) for a 2007 vehicle that was already supported at the time of purchase. I did not purchase a rental service — I purchased hardware and reasonably expected it to continue functioning for previously supported vehicles.
If you are considering buying this device, make sure you fully understand that it may require continuous paid subscription to remain functional.

Autel verspricht viel und hält wenig
Habe mir das Diagnosegerät ML 629 gekauft, lt. Werbung soll auch deutsch als Sprache haben. Hat es aber nicht, man muss sich erst registrieren um die Sprache freischalten zulassen. Und das klappt vorne und nicht eine einzige Katastrophe 5 mal probiert immer mit neuen Codes jeweils für Telefon und Mail (darunter machen sie es nicht) und nichts passiert. Die Seite sagt dir aber auch nicht was falsch läuft, sondern die Registrierung klappt einfach nicht ohne das man weiß wo der Fehler liegt. Wenn ich gewusst hätte das man Raketenwissenschaftler sein muss um das Gerät zu bedienen hätte ich es nicht gekauft. Ich kann nur raten lasst die Finger davon!

Autel.com is fine; caution with resellers (for renewals)
My experience with purchasing my Autel scanner, pre- and post-purchase support have all been good.
The problem comes with the renewals for the software. I am a DIY home mechanic who likes to maintain my own vehicles 2005 Toyota Sienna and 2010 Camry. Purchased the scanner primarily to troubleshoot and eventually replace and calibrate the Steering Wheel Sensor in the Sienna after discovering it wasn't reading correctly after self-replacing the rack and pinion. Ran the rest of the checks and find the rest are fine. Same for Camry.
So now, with all that over within the first year, I am faced with the challenge to pay the $150 software renewal fee -- for just two Toyota vehicles and unlikely need to retest in foreseeable future. I wish there was a way for them to charge a more limited fee for a limited set of vehicles.
I did a search on line for the renewal alternatives. Found one called Autel-officialsite. I assumed it was some form of reseller, but decided to give it a try for its closer to $100 'make an offer' price.
I did receive my activation code, but there was a lot of confusion in trading messages with that seller. First implied that I would receive a renewal that was 13 months (vs 12), but that didn't happen. Then a comment that if I wasn't in a hurry, the renewal would be good until 2029, but with no clarification that I could have just 'sat' on the code until I really needed it. Also, the renewal is supposed to include a physical card with the renewal code. I received a tracking confirmation that the card was shipped, but not to my address. I assume the recipient address might be the reseller, but he will not confirm or explain. So Autel.com is fine, but they need to better discipline their resellers.

It is awful, HORRIBLE dealing with AUTEL
It is awful dealing with service people @ Autel. Paid money for update to my OBD2 reader and have to wait DAYS with NO authorization code. I'm still waiting! They provided an bogus solution which shows the support people at Autel dont have a solid product knowledge, screw me around and waist time. In the mean time, i wait and my business suffers!!! I still can't update.... what a joke. I should have bought different code reader.

I bought a unit from the sale on their German site (Autel.de) with free shipping. I live in Malta and expected there would be no issue in sending the unit within the EU. I was contacted and told they do not ship to Malta (even though there is no restriction on the website) from their German warehouse (in the EU). I could have the unit sent to Malta from China but I would then have to pay all import charges and shipping via UPS. I was trying to work around the issue and they just refunded me on a disposable card. Now I have to explore how I will get the money back. A very unsatisfactory experience.

Awful customer service. Tried to use an SFD that we paid £12 to allow us to clear down codes on a new VAG car. It would not work after following instructions, and when I contacted customer service the accused me of trying to get another free gateway pass when I just wanted their help. Boils my urine.

I ordered an Ultra Lite S Diagnosis Scanner on 3/11/25 from these cowboys who tried to rip me off by sending me the Ultra Lite scanner an older version scanner without informing me.
So after 9 days of ordering and finally receiving the older scanner i notified AUTEL and paypal stating the wrong scanner was sent to me,so i asked for a return label through paypal and after receiving the label i took pics of scanner in box and the return label as asked for by AUTEL.So i dropped it off at evri dropoff 11/11/25 as asked by AUTEL...Now 24/11/25 i still have had no refund from AUTEL and have to wait for paypal to investigate them to get my refund expected date of 10/12/25.WHAT A JOKE...

It does some basic stuff but there are significant shortcomings:
1. The damn thing DEMANDS to be updated. I don't need newest vehicle coverage, mine are covered. So far it works but throws a nasty warning "To continue using, you MUST update." What's up with that?!?
2. It refuses to send emails with freezeframe. Yes, it is connected to WiFi. I sent a question about this issue, and they responded with an ad. So if you expect any level of support, forget it.
3. It demanded that I created an account and immediately attempted to access/take control of my email account so I had to change the password.

Absolute outright thievery, sent in a couple of units to just have flashed to remove forgotten passcodes and was quoted over $1900, one under warranty. We were told prior to shipping that there wouldn't be a charge for units under warranty. BTW you can purchase both new for same money. I wouldn't use this company or it's subsidiaries.
