Twice I have put a qr code reader on
Twice I have put a qr code reader on. One for a children's car at Livingston centre for my great granddaughter. Then got an email saying thank you for your membership. We will take £40.56 off you. So cancelled that. Then was making an account to a restaurant and qr code came up. The same happened. Lucky the bank blocked card. Had to get new one. Do not qr reader code as these people seem to intercept it and scam you!!!
Assist Bill.com One big scam
Assist Bill.com One big scam, found on my Halifax statement this morning a pending payment of £40.56. Called fraud squad who immediately cancelled my bank card and told me I was one of several people to be a victim of fraud. It’s not a nice feeling I was extremely upset to say the least.
Assist bill is fraudulent
Assist bill is fraudulent. I was trying to rate Cosmo "eat everything " at Bournemouth, through a QR code given to me by one of their staff members when I was redirected to a site that requested to debit £0.00 for card verification. Unfortunately, being unaware of the potential danger, I consented. But within me, I felt something was not right and I blocked any more transaction from there on my bank app, only to see double declined £40.56 debit transaction due to the blocking I made. What is the debit for??? Still a question that needs answers. This is fraud!!! Beware out there everyone.
fraud
fraud
I have no idea how this company got my details, but they fraudulently took £40.62 from my bank account at 3:00 a.m. in the UK. I have had to cancel my cards and order a new one.
Stole my details I didn't sign up for…
Stole my details I didn't sign up for anything
Credit card SCAM
Credit card company phoned to ask if I had made transaction today for £40-56. I DEFINITELY HAD NOT.
Credit card company picked it up as a potential scam which it was.
Scammers
Like all the other reviewers, i got scammed while ordering in a restaurant . Was debited for 48.95. Is you read this: unsuncribe on their website and block your creditcard
QR OTP scam
QR OTP code hijacked me in haven while trying to order via QR code. Santander blocked a £40 payment and unsubscribed me from these scammers and ordered a new card.
a completely fraudulent company
This a completely fraudulent operation. They hijack QR codes so that you think you're paying for something legitimate but in fact you have been redirected. They will then try to take increasingly large sums from your account. Fortunately my bank was on the ball and the transaction was blocked. Needed a new card and PIN.
This is a scamming company
This is a scamming company! Be wary of using ApplePay as they can charge the card in your Apple Wallet. I was charged £40.56 and have blocked them from taking another payment and advised the company I was buying goods from. ASSIST BILL IS A SCAM AND WILL CRIMINALLY REMOVE MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.
Toal scam
I was trying to pay for two bus tickets from a QR code whilst on holiday in Budapest. The site must have directed me to assist bill. As you may appreciate being in another country and trying to sort out payment whilst standing on a moving bus that I didnt realise and was still of the impression that I was paying for bus tickets. Didn't know payment had gone to assist bill until I checked my credit card details. So I take some responsibility but see this redirection as a total scam. You think you are entering details to pay for one thing but redirected to their site. The only positive was that it looks like I got the bus ride fo free. Unless the fine is in the post from the Hungarian authorities. I have contacted my Credit Card company to instruct them not to make any further payments to assist bill.
Scam via QR code reader
Scam via QR code reader. Took 40.56 from my account when trying to set up smart watch.
QR code reader scam
Directed to this website through my QR code reader so thought I was paying for Weatherspoons breakfast at Heathrow. Aborted as soon as I realised it was not Weatherspoons but a streaming s
Website but had already input my card details. Luckily my bank flagged a suspicious transaction for attempted 40.56 debit by this site. Spoke to their fraud department who also said another attempt to debit over 2000 was made ... my account doesn't even hold that amount! Card cancelled for a new one. Be careful when you enter card details especially on QR code reader, may have clicked on the wrong link.
What's going on?
I was downloading the U channel on my bedroom TV - I have it on the main one. I clicked the barcode on the screen and it took me to the registration page, then asked for my card details. I know U is supposed to be free but I thought praps they had premium content for which they charged, that at some point I might want to use.. I later received an email saying I had 3 day trial and then it would be £40.00 a month! I emailed them and they confirmed I had cancelled within the period but will still be contacting my card company. And mine is an android device so it can't only be something to do with Apple Pay. Ive emailed support at u and they confirmed they would never ask for payment details. How can this happen?!!
TOTAL SCAM- Assistbill.com
TOTAL SCAM-I noticed an email from two days ago saying that they were going to take the £40.56 from the account after the three days for free trial. I checked out the website and it’s literally only one page that doesn’t tell you anything about what they do. I’ve got straight in touch with my bank at 11:30 pm ( last night) who searched for any pending payment and there wasn’t anything. I requested my bank to stop any future payments to this company. Just after 12 o’clock midnight today my bank declined a payment request. Looking back it does look as though it’s something to do with Apple Pay some how.
TOTAL SCAM
TOTAL SCAM
The QR code was advertised as a CitiPark car park app. I even ran my finger around the edges of the code just to make sure it wasn't a vinyl sticker over the top of the "real" one. Nope. I did think it was odd that the payment part came up in EUROs and when it came up with all sorts of discounts for games, cinema and other junk, I backed out of it.
I Googled the company and it gives you a free trial for ONE DAY. Fortunately, no money was ring fenced on my credit card, but I went in and cancelled the subscription and printed off the successful submission. I have also received an email confirmation.
£40.56 transaction pending
I noticed a transaction in my pending payments on my Halifax banking app. ASSISTBILL.COM WEYBRIDGEGB for £40.56. After doing some research I came across the reviews here - a lot with the mysterious £40.56 taken from their bank accounts. I contacted Halifax fraud dept and they traced it back to an Apple Account 'transaction' that I apparently did online at 8:28pm on 7th July. I know it wasn't me. The bank refunded me the money and will contact the company for an explanation. My bank card has been cancelled and I am expecting a new card in a few days.
I approved £0
I approved £0, the next day they tried to take £40.56 twice but Santander declined them and alerted me. I went on the Assistbill website and cancelled the subscription I didn't know I had!
Report to Action Fraud
Agree with others this seems an absolute scam and criminal activity. I will be reporting this to the Action Fraud on my return to the UK.
I was booking a visitor attraction in The Netherlands (cost 12 Euros) and was asked to confirm my card with £0 which I did and then cancelled the transaction. A couple of days later my bank declined 2 payments to assistbill.com both for £40.56. Well done to Monzo Bank for declining these payments. assistbill.com, watch out hopefully law enforcement will be getting involved.
