Great customer service. I even received a call confirming my purchase was correct for my fish & frogs.
I received my order on the day stated. Very well packaged & food was still frozen.

Excellent store with a good selection of tropical fish and plants, Small amount of cold water fish & no saltwater . Not the cheapest for prices . But high quality, healthy fish.
Definitely recommend if your looking for fish in Blackburn and don't want to travel elsewhere

Avoid if you value your fish – extremely slow dispatch, misleading stock claims, and unreliable live food supply
I strongly advise anyone who keeps sensitive or high-value fish to avoid ordering live foods from Aquamania. Their website claims next-day or 1–2 working day dispatch (terms 8.4), but in reality they do NOT hold live foods in stock. They wait until they have enough customer orders before placing a bulk order with their wholesaler, who only accepts large minimum-quantity orders. This means your “order” isn’t actually in stock – it’s just added to their next big supplier batch.
This results in serious delays, sometimes over a week before they even receive the live food themselves. Other customers on Trustpilot have reported waiting over a month and never receiving anything. I wish I had seen those reviews earlier.
In my case, the delay cost me a fish. I ordered on a Tuesday night, expecting dispatch within the advertised 1–2 days. Instead, the seller waited for his Friday shipment, then told me my order would be sent the following Monday to arrive Tuesday – far too late. By then, my discus had died because the live food did not arrive when urgently needed.
The seller didn’t acknowledge my first cancellation request and only responded with excuses. Communication was slow and dismissive.
If you need live foods quickly, or your fish depend on it for survival, do not rely on this seller. The website gives the impression of fast dispatch, but the truth is far different. I don’t want anyone else to lose a fish because of these unnecessary delays.

Hi, Thank you for your review. We are sorry that our service was not suitable for you as it has been in the past. We send live fish foods all around the country (all week) - the daphnia was unfortunately out of stock at that time. I wanted to respond to your review here:

We are not amazon or a company with same day dispatch - we aim for all items dispatched within 1-2 working days and get all orders completed within 30 days (stated on our site). We get weekly fresh live food shipments and supply hundreds of customers per week and have done for 30+ years both on and offline with more than 30,000 online orders between eBay and our direct website.

This is false - we AIM for 1-2 working days based on the time the order was placed - if after 9:30am, this is delayed till the following day. We also state that all orders will be dispatched within 30 days. All of this is fully detailed in the terms on our website. We try our best to send orders within 1-2 working days however sometimes this is not possible due to unexpected delays.

Yes we do, we get weekly shipments every Friday from our supplier and we ship these orders out on Fridays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We also sell the live foods in-store - this is why the stock was low for your order.

This is also false - we get a delivery every week (detailed in the live foods product pages on our website) - regardless if we have enough orders or not.

You stated to us on the phone call on Friday stating that you wanted to euthanise your fish. The delay did not cost you a fish as live fish food will not cure illness.

Again false - as stated, we sell in-store and online and get weekly shipments.

This was due to a supplier delay for Daphnia which we emailed to you explaining. We stated on this email that we could cancel the order if this was not suitable. At this time, you had not told us about a need for your order to be sent urgently or any deadlines you needed for your fish.

As stated in our email, I did offer to cancel the order. We aim to respond to all emails within 48 hours - you received an email reply immediately stating this.

We have been shipping live fish foods around the UK with more than 30,000 orders - with few issues. We contacted you about this order stating about the delay to get abuse thrown at our staff.
Throughout this we have tried to help you out as soon as possible and offered solutions throughout - you have shouted through the phone, threatened with negative reviews and attacked us for your misuse and misunderstanding of simple terms and conditions. Your care for your animal is your own responsibility.
For anybody reading this who looks at this as a reflection of our business - we have served the country for over 30+ years both online and in-person and have little to no issues - the rare occasion we have issue we try to sort as quickly as possible to help the customer out.

We visited today to buy some fish for our tank. The place was run down, dirty and unwelcoming. We looked at the fish tanks and they were absolutely filthy. They looked that they hadn't been cleaned for a very long time. Then the prices, wow, they were extortionate. We couldn’t believe the prices they were charging, unbelievable. There was a young lad going round all the tanks with a net fishing out all the dead fish from each tank. Then when I looked at the reviews, it seems that if you give a poor review, you get a lot of abuse and name calling. Very unprofessional and says a lot about the owners of this place.I would advise to stay clear.

At Aquamania we are currently undergoing a full refurbishment that started at the beginning of the year including refreshing the inside and outside of the building. We do have signs inside explaining about building works however we try to keep the place bright and happy all year round. We are close to finishing some refurbishments and are excited to reveal these soon.

The fish tanks get cleaned at minimum once weekly with 3 dedicated aquatics members of staff on this - including records kept for every tank cleaned with water quality testing 3 times a week.

The quality of fish that we stock are frequently from the Czech Republic (Czechia) and are a much higher standard and quality that other cheaper value suppliers for example Singapore. The products are also from top end wholesalers from around the country that have been established for many years and much better quality than “off brand” products at a cheaper price point.

As in any aquarium you will occasionally, lose fish - this is hard to avoid however a rare instance. The staff member checks for issues and tests the water and treats as needed if there is an issue. We very rarely have more than 1-3 a day if any at all.

We appreciate positive and truthful reviews and enthusiastically defend obviously negative and untruthful reviews. The only people who seem to be offended by this are those leaving untruthful and negative reviews. We welcome anybody with an open mind to visit our store, throughout the year, and truthfully see the high quality of our products. We strive to make our shop a happy place for families and people to enjoy a few hours and relax with the fish and pride ourselves in providing a safe space for all people.

Poor online service
I ordered a bulk delivery of live tubifex. I am really disappointed with their service. First I had to wait over a month for delivery, with no updates until I chased. Then the tubifex is very poorly packed. Normally the tray of tubifex would be in a sealed polystyrene box with ice blocks. This one simply had a polystyrene sheet top and bottom, with no insulation on the sides. So the ice block melts quickly, the tubifex turns to sludge and is unusable. If you are going to offer online ordering then you need to keep customers informed and respond reasonably quickly to emails. Then you need package items properly. Before posting this review I sent you an email detailing the issues, 6 days later I have had no response, hence the review. I would avoid buying online from this company.

Avoid using this company
Awful customer service. Bought 5 frozen fish items @£14.99 each. 2 of them arrived defrosted and unusable. Reported it on day of delivery and provided the photos as evidence and indicated the reasons that the items where inappropriately packaged. Received replacements which were packaged even worse and were also completely unusable. Requested a refund on the 2 items and have waited a month with no reply or refund. Reported to trading standards. Avoid using this company
