Booking page said price was $268. That became $400 when payment was processed. No warning. No possibility of cancellation without losing huge associated ‘fees’. If this isn’t illegal, it ought to be. Shameful business practices.

The BTU calculator was the reason I bought from the website. But delivery was fast and the radiator was good quality at a reasonable price.

I rented from my local Tesco a couple of days ago. Online booking worked well. The code worked without a problem. The machine is simple to operate and produced pleasing results. I probably shouldn't admit in a public forum how dirty my carpets had become, but they regained something of the colour that I remember. It works better in bigger open spaces, and less well around sharp corners, sticking-out radiators and other awkward spaces, though the hose attachment helps with those. In 24 hours I managed to do all the hallways and stairs in a four story house. No more. Then again, because my carpets were filthy, I had to go over a few sections several times. I was quite exhausted by the end of it. Don't overestimate what you can do in 24 hours.

One last thing. I used 4 litres of the carpet detergents (£19.99!). I've been very suspicious of it in the past--because I expect that they make more money from that than the machines themselves. Maybe there are cheaper detergents, but I can't argue with the results.
