Visited today with the sole purpose of buying a pair of Dubarry Boots. We had the budget, we had the inclination and we had the knowledge. I knew exactly what I wanted but wanted to try them on first obviously. At Circa £430, they needed to be right.
What I wasn’t prepared for, was the fact that my impeccably behaved dog would not be allowed in this ‘country pursuits’ shop. Nor it seems, are muddy boots welcome either (the sign on the door asks to leave muddy boots and dogs behind). What? Put simply, I have never experienced this in my life, it baffles me.
Don’t get me wrong, the man who served me was the epitome of good customer service and was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. I honestly cannot fault him. However, we refused to part with our hard-earned money here
We took a brochure away with us and it is FULL of images of dogs, enjoying their lives with William Powell - clobber-clad owners. William Powell, also sell a wide array of dog coats, jackets and other canine paraphernalia. The salesman told me that the store had had a few accidents with visiting dogs and they had made the decision to ban them completely. He also told me that as long as the dog is kept downstairs, dog coats can be bought down to them to try. What?
Really? Did things get so very bad with visiting dogs, that you chose to close the wallets of their owners? How many times did you have to clean up after visiting dogs versus the sales you made with owners and their companions previously?
Dogs are now allowed in many high end stores, including John Lewis and I’m afraid they trump William Powell, 10 fold in the sale of expensive items.
Suffice it to say that we travelled to Milton Keynes and spent the same amount on a pair of the exact same boots, from another ‘family owned’ store, but the difference….my dog and my partner could join me on my boot-buying journey.
Really? Family owned or not, this is an ‘outdoor’ store, for ‘outdoor’ pursuits. You need to suck up the odd poo (not literally) if you intend to flourish in this cut-throat retail world.
I wonder just how many people have turned the car around after reading all of your prohibitive and unwelcoming signs on the door? What a shame.

First class service. I contacted William Powell to check size on an item, they measured the item for me and confirmed back to me the same day. I ordered the item and it came free delivery the next day at 2pm. Cannot rate highly enough,
will definitely by using William Powell again!

Super fast delivery. Item very good but didn't fit so refunded immediately. Very impressed with service.

I placed an order from Spain and it arrived correctly and on time. It is a Barbour coat that was sold out in Spain and I previously checked that this store had stock of the product. Those responsible immediately confirmed to me that they had the coat. They sent me a store catalog with a wide variety of products. The truth is that I would buy more things here if it weren't for the inevitable customs fees. I will enjoy my coat in La Coruña, on the northwest coast of Spain where they have a climate similar to that of the south of the UK.

Absolutely first class. Placed an online order late afternoon for a Schoffel coat in the sale. It arrived next morning before 10 courtesy of DPD, well packed in a box and not just thrown in a polybag like some other suppliers. I didn't specify next day delivery either! Highly recommended from me, thanks WP!

Ordered 3 items. Only one delivered and now William Powell claim that the 'weight' of the parcel confirms that all of the items were delivered. Have to take the case up with PayPal. Avoid these cowboys at all costs if you can!!!

I bought some items in the sale. The next day I wanted to add something else to my already paid for order but as it wasn’t possible because that had already been packaged, they gave me free shipping to compensate even though it wasn’t their fault. The website was easy to navigate and the customer service from point of ordering to delivery I cannot fault. The items arrived in two sturdy boxes, they’d even shipped my second order so it would reach on the same day. Everything was packaged and wrapped beautifully I was really surprised. Tbh if I’d read the reviews on here before ordering I’d have been a bit worried! In each box was a really easy to use and if necessary returns details which thankfully I don’t need. I highly recommend this company. Excellent customer service and very quick delivery. Thank you

I made a purchase from their website and it arrived not as advertised. I’m now £10 down in delivery/return charges for an item that was never going to fit in the first place, due to their incorrect product description.

I’ve emailed them about 4 times over the last month and they haven’t replied. I’m going to email the company founder to see what he has to say about his incompetent team.

Utterly pathetic for a company of this standing. Naturally I won’t be buying from WP again and I’ll be telling all my fellow country crew to give them a wide birth too.

Ordered a pair of Arxus boots - which are shoddy quality, not worth the money, and certainly not fit for use for Scottish field sports. Delivery costs £4.95. To return the boots, the cost was £16.45. Leaving me out of pocket £21.40. Contacted the company to ask for these costs to be refunded given I was sent a pair of boots that are not as advertised (que legal action). They have refused my request. This is the worst type of company, offering the worst customer service. No way I would shop with them ever again, and certainly would urge others to consider the abundant and significantly high-quality outfitters offering much better products.

For company that sells such high end goods they have very low end customer service.
Ordered a pair of expensive shoes that had a 20% discount in the post christmas sale. When they arrived were much darker than on the website pictures. Due to the delay in the delivery they had now reverted back to full price. Asked whether I could exchange for a different colour and was told "refund only" when asking if I could repurchase at the sale price it was a flat no. I don't feel this was unreasonable with the time frames involved with their slow delivery.
Made worse that it cost me £12 in delivery fees to receive and return.

I am so impressed with the service and choice. I ordered on Sunday evening and my order was delivered Tuesday morning. I ordered two Barbour jackets. I researched the price beforehand and this was the best price I could find. I can't recommend this company highly enough.

I must admit I was a little bit sceptical after reading some of the reviews, however, I have placed an order yesterday afternoon and received it this morning. Really happy with my purchase as I was after these wellingtons for a while.

Excellent customer service from William Powell.
I had read negative reviews of this company with regard to their customer service, however, as the price they were offering was much lower than anywhere else I decided to take the ‘risk’ and place my order with them. I can only say that they surpassed my expectations of what good customer service should be. My order was despatched quickly: placed on Saturday despatched on Monday. Delivery was attempted on Tuesday (I hadn’t paid for fast delivery) but the DPD driver couldn’t find my property. I phoned customer services at William Powell, they phoned DPD straight away and reassured me that they would do all they good to get the items to me that day. The items were delivered early the following morning.
I really do feel that this company has had some bad ‘press’: I can only say that I can’t fault them in terms of - value for money m efficiency and excellent customer services.

Again, surprised by some of these negative reviews s they do not follow my experience. I ordered a Barbour dog collar. It arrived very quickly, and even included a returns label/postage if the item was not suitable. Appreciated the brochure, too. From my experience I have to give 5/5 stars. Great collar, and a great service.

Customer service and customer loyalty non existent. We bought Melrose tweed breeks and Melrose tweed shooting vest. And after only wearing twice. The stitching came out. And the suppliers said it was due to wear and tear. And could not do a refund or exchange for us. Really poor services here and will not be returning

Shocking customer service! They need to bring themselves into this century. The younger staff are generally very pleasant but the ‘older generation’ have no customer service skills and really should just stay in the back office if they still want to be involved in the business.

Initially dubious after reading other reviews I took the plunge and ordered a pair of Loake 1880 Sedbergh boots from William Powell as the price was significantly cheaper than anywhere else on the Web. The boots were ordered using their standard delivery option, delivered approximately 24 hours after purchase and were brand new, double-boxed and supplied with the usual Loake cloth bags and spare laces. William Powell and DPD kept me informed all the way through the ordering process and delivery and I cannot fault them in any way! Would recommend this company to anyone and will definitely be using again.

Ordered a coat online on sale. It arrived and despite Barbour always fitting in a size 10 it swamped me. I wanted to exchange for a size 8 but was told refund only on sale items. Considering it’s an online order it’s quite an unfair policy - as I really like the coat and would love to exchange. The full price cost is £60 more so it’s substantially higher. I think overall it’s just very poor customer service from this type of retailer. I would expect more.
