Waste of money, would not recommend paying for this service as it’s a waste of money. Really bad communication, they don’t respond to calls or messages!

Absolute joke. They are supposed to represent workers. They couldn't give a monkeys. They talk the talk but do nothing and haven't even got the courtesy to answer or respond to communication.

I joined expecting support but received none. When I requested a refund, the Unison London email turned out to be the wrong branch. Calling them just leads to disconnections. Save your money—you’re better off using ChatGPT than paying for this.

You’d think in the public sector claims of disability discrimination would result in robust support and victim centred outrage from a union who prides itself for being there when needed the most. Yet in my case I couldn’t have been further off the mark! From being given poor advice which later impacted a tribunal claim to just not being there during the times when needed the most (grievance meetings etc) these cowards are quick to take your money, not provide any help and the cherry on top, to then side with the employer because it’s the path of least resistance.

I hope your entire organisation collapses.

Firstly, I would like to say that it is noteworthy that UNISON does not respond to the reviews being posted. Please steer clear of them, as this is the level of input you will receive when you need them. I have been a member since 2004, and needed their help regarding a greiviance I raised. Neither my Unison Rep nor her Regional Organiser advocated for me, instead they were complicit with my employer, and a Subject Access Request evidenced this... Word of advice, save your monthly subscription dues in an account for the services of an employment Solicitor in the event that you ever need one.

Very similar to other comments, absolute waste of time, don't know what I've wasted my money on being part of this useless union. When I have needed them recently they ignore calls, have repeatedly asked for a call back and still waiting for the call back, literally been paying money for nothing. Will be cancelling my membership. Do not recommend anyone joining this waste of space union

Awful. Have been paying for 6 years and when I needed help with my trust not paying my SMP I got no contact back. Every time I rang they said my trust rep will be in touch… nearly 5 months later and they have still not been in touch despite me ringing to chase up multiple times. Will be cancelling and going to the RCN instead. What a waste of money all these years.

Do not sign up with Unison. I have been waiting for about 2 months to find out who my rep is. When I phone I'm treated like I am a pain. Last time I phoned I was told 'the list has gone round but nobody decided to take you'. WHAT..PARDON!!!! What have I been paying for. Got a meeting with HR tomorrow and I am having to go with no representation.

First time I needed Unison. Problems at work took a toll on my mental health. Initially, my rep was nice, but that didn't last. I couldn't get hold of her. She wouldn't return my calls when she was supposed to. She didn't speak up for me at meetings. My wages were cut, and an overpayment was taken from my wages. My rep said this was not allowed and arranged a meeting. She said nothing at the meeting. Afterward, she said there was no point fighting them for my money. I left my job and cancelled Unison. I would never recommend Unison to anyone.

I paid for 5 years and when it came to legally supporting my interest they were absolutely unhelpful and taking the other side, although the contract stated vice versa. When I have lost my job I went to them and all they cared was my membership, no simple human generated understanding.
Please don't waste your money!

I've paid unison for many years and for the first time I needed some guidance recently so made contact. I was informed from the Yorkshire branch would make contact in the enzt 48 hours..and over a week later still waiting. I've since cancelled my membership on moved to RCN. Waste of money !

Useless waste of space. My fiance is part of this "union" she is being bullied in the workplace and dealing with upwards bullying and allegations and has been crying out for any type of support from this company that she's apart of for months and months. She has no support from her HR department because she's a manger and other manages are no help what so ever so she reached out to the union for support and guidance to go through everything with her and they didn't give a single care or advice or show support. Giving this union a 1 star is far far too generous. They have constantly ignored her she is in bits, thanks for all your help! Your a joke.

Letter today L Morris didn't even address complaint, didn't even say what complaint about , you didn't record call but making it up as you go along.
How are you people taking members money and sitting back doing Notting?????

If I could give 0 starts I would!!!. Do not waste your money!!!. I have heard so many terrible experiences regarding Unison's lack of support and injustices however, I did not think I would experience this first-hand, at a crucial time when I needed support with evident and severe workplace inequality. Unison completely lies in there leaflets and contracts about the support they provide. They did not provide me with any support!. When challenging management the rep was initially discussing my case with me but then they became completely unobtainable. When trying to get legal support Unison advised me that my case had no merits although I had considerable evidence and ended up representing myself successfully. When I complained formally and directly to Unison about the mismanagement of my case and the way it had been handled I was met with unprofessional and defensive responses. The Unison complaints responder had not taken a balanced or just approach in handling my complaints/concerns. This approach is not only dangerous but, also does not align with Unison's core values.

Unison will do one thing only!, take your money each month which, they do extremely well. In return, you do not receive the support you signed up for as per the Unison contract. Should you complain to Unison as I did your, complaint will be disregarded and you will be told that you are in the wrong not Unison. Similar, to the coverup scandals such, as the post office scandal where staff will cover up for other staff members as a result of their titles. However, this dangerous practice overlooks the mismanagement of Unison members cases, that need to be addressed. As opposed to responding defensively and ignoring members' concerns. Unison should be responding professionally, and ethically which will allow for the improvement of the service and reduce workplace bullying, harassment; and inequalities for Unison members. Unison's current way of practising is extremely worrying and sad. For your safety and well-being, stay well away from Unison.

Unison are happy to take my money but failed to support me with a clear case of failing to pay wages. The Cambridge branch is terrible especially P**L. He's arrogant and doesn't listen and frankly I know I can't ever be left like that again because I have no intention of coming to Unison. I'm only continuing to pay the subscriptions due to tax reasons.

I asked for representation for a meeting with 2 weeks notice. I received the initial email to say that my brand representative would get back to me, which they did, over 3 weeks later and 8 days after my meeting. No apology.
It is not a cheap service and if I had simply been informed that it was not enough time I would have moved the meeting date but I was not and went in on my own.
I am now trying to cancel which is proving more difficult than it should be.
Incredibly disappointed and feeling ripped off with all the money I have put in for no service.

I AM BEING KIND HERE TO UNISON, UNISON EVEN FAILED TO REPLY TO MY LOCAL MEMBER OF PARLIAMANT WHEN ASKED TO LOOK INTO A CASE I BROUGHT TO THEM, WHICH WAS NO SURPRISE AS IT SEEMS TO BE CUSTOM & PRACTICE FOR THIS ORGANIZATION A RESPONCE TO MY & ALL THE OTHER MEMBERS WOULD BE VERY WELCOME FROM ALL OF US RAISING COMPLAINTS AGAINST THIS ORGANIZATION

I can't believe what just happened after years of paying for meebrship. My rep was initally supportive and after that went VERY COLD and unresponsive despite the magnitude and depth of the allegations!. I am actually worrying now whether he is ok (based on how warm and eager to help he was the last time we met). I wont be judgemental at this horrible stage when i need them most, but have now gone back to RCN (thank God I kept both paying every month for both Union). It is an awful awful awful experience at the moment I had no choice but write the NMC myself as enough is enough! I am now being supported by the RCN.

Contacted Unison with a matter at work. Rep based in South Wales was useless, no help whatsoever. Have cancelled membership and gone to another union. This is the second time they have failed to help me despite steep membership fees.
