Very disappointed with the customer…

Very disappointed with the customer service - I ordered some Cloud boots and measured my horses feet exactly and ordered the correct size for the size of my horse's feet. When I received them and tried them on they didn't fit, in fact they wouldn't even go over his foot. I was told that sometimes the sizing isn't always very accurate and I needed to discuss with someone before I get the next pair - I can't see what difference that would make as the measurements weren't going to change! It doesn't matter how malleable they were, if the entrance to the boot is smaller than the foot, it is never going to fit! As it was not my fault that the boots didn't fit, I didn't feel I should have to pay for the return postage for a refund. They said I did have to. What has happened to the old adage 'the customer is always right' certainly not in this case!

We took extensive time trying to help this customer who wanted us to cover the return postage of this pair of boots because they did not fit her horse, her argument being that they must therefore be faulty. If a product is faulty, we will always cover the return postage, but in situations of ‘change of mind’ (i.e. a manufacturing fault cannot be found with the product) it is made clear that return postage is not covered (as is common with almost all businesses). If someone were to buy a pair of shoes for themselves and they do not fit their feet, it would not seen as a fault of the product in question either. We have sold many thousands of these boots (and also distribute them in the UK) and have never had anyone query the fit/sizing of them, and we established the boots the customer had in their possession were typical of the boots we sold. We use the boots ourselves on our own horses as well, so have a great deal of experience with them. Like saddles, hoof boots must be a good fit to work well, be comfortable and safe which is why we offer totally free, expert advice on the subject (which was offered in this case too). Boot fitting is not just about measurements alone as we tried to explain (please note that we did not manage to verify if the customer had measured correctly either- we find more than 75% of people either measure incorrectly or the hoof is not at the right point in the trim cycle to measure for boots), they can only ever be a starting point, as fit is based on many aspects of the hoof such as heel height, hoof angle and symmetry to name a few. If a boot will not go on when on paper it should, there is always more to the story, hence we offer such comprehensive free advice. We are saddened that they felt the need to leave a 2 star review after all the time we took to try and help.
