If there were minus stars available, I would award as many as possible!
Dear Thames Clippers,

Just to let you know that the un-advertised issues with your service pretty much ruined our family day out to celebrate my wife's birthday today.
My wife is chronically and severely ill and, for what was supposed to be a birthday treat, I bought four hop-on-hop off day tickets for her, myself and for our two, adult daughters.
I carefully planned the schedule for the day using the thames clipper timetable and route map.
From the beginning there were issues, starting with the surprise, smaller boats shuttling passengers between jetties due to the high tide, at one point waiting mid-river in stifling heat for what felt like a very long time while other, queued boats cleared the jetty for disembarkation.

Then, at the unplanned interchanges, there was increasing passenger congestion and delays waiting for unplanned connecting boats.
It was a hot day and the ventilation and cooling in the interior felt non-existent and the air stifling.
Having finally arrived at our destination in Greenwich and after a pleasant time there together we thought we could look forward to a nice, continuous journey back to our home pier in Putney together as the tide had by then ebbed. However, planned boat back was already full
to capacity, and we were instructed to form a queue with other people waiting for the next boat that a)would be at least 30 minutes in arriving and b)only go only as far as the Southbank. The queue was in the blazing sun, with no shade nor seating. At the front of the queue there were already elderly and infirm people who had been unable to board the previous boat and were being asked to stand in dangerously hot sun.
To remain in this queue would
have been harmful to my wife's health and, at least,
very uncomfortable
for the rest of her family accompanying her. Furthmore, there was no guarantee of there being capacity for us to able to board a subsequent boat.
Had it been clearly highlighted before buying our tickets that there would be potential disruptions at high tide and/or a likelihood of having to queue in an exposed position without seating, I would have been able to make an informed choice about
if and when to travel.
As it was, however, I believe that Thames Clippers took the payment of my fare under false pretexts which resulted in a worsening of my wife's
condition and all four of us having to negotiate a difficult and costly journey home by other public transport, rather than the scenic and relaxing journey home that I had planned and had believed I had paid for.
Needless to say, I doubt any one from our family would trust thames clippers as a means of reliable or pleasant transport again.

Poor service that treats customers like cattle

I have been using Uber boat for a long while. The staff is generally always rude but I try not to engage with them. But their customer service and their treatment of customers is shocking. They treat passengers as cattle. Two days in a row, I was denied boarding at Canary Whaf (westbound) due to boat being at capacity, whilst you could still see empty seats. They were rude to customers who were waiting, not communicating clearly and were ignoring those waiting in scorching sun. Absolutely ridiculous! I am unsure if this is an erfect of Uber brand but I do not recall such bad customer service beforehand. I had to cancell my meetings, was late to others and had to spend a fortune in taxis.

One hour Journey took three hours, and I wet myself due to no toilets. Sending complaint to TfL and the relevant Ombudsman.

Hi all

The below is what I just sent to UberBoats. Experience so bad it feels like a TV episode.

Summary of the below: I was charged £40 as Uber Boat delayed me by almost four hours, and I wet myself as there were no toilet facilities on the boat. I have posted the below to TrustPilot and Twitter and will consider taking it down once I am refunded and have an apology from Uber Boat.

I had last Saturday (14/06/25) the worst experience I've had on any TfL service - or any travel experience within London - on the Uber Boat. I'm still honestly in shock about it AND I was so delayed TfL charged me more than £40 due to exceeding the maximum journey as an hour journey became ALMOST FOUR HOURS. I demand a refund under section 3.5.1 of your terms of service and an apology.

I arrived at the Uber Boat Greenwich pier with the intention of travelling to Battersea Pier - for which we needed to take the Westbound 15.23 weekend RB6 service. This was to get to my wife's birthday party in Battersea, which was at 7pm.

There was a huge queue, so we missed the first boat and were asked to leave the pier. We weren't too concerned about this and waiting for the next one. At that point the staff informed us the timetable was "not accurate" and that we would have to wait an additional 40 minutes. We were somewhat annoyed but the weather was alright so we stayed waiting. We wanted to enter at the rear of the boat for the sunshine and the staff then yelled at us to move forward to the end of the pier, and when we asked if they could let us stay they didn't answer our question and kept yelling to move forward. This was our first inkling the experience was going to take a turn.

Another 20-30 minutes later an RB6 finally arrived and managed to take us one stop before breaking down. The boat turned around to Greenwich Pier, and the staff on the boat confirmed that we would take priority on the next RB6.

We waited another 20 minutes, close to the front of the queue via the loop system the staff were running to get onto the forward and rear doors of the boat. The RB6 arrived, and we began to board only for the crew - for no discernible reason - decided to start letting on people who were not on the cancelled boat right in front of us. At that point the person on the rear of the boat started yelling at us and pulled up the bridge without explanation. We walked to the front of the boat and they said they were full - departing and leaving us stranded ONCE AGAIN on Greenwich Pier.

At this point several passengers had fully had enough and stormed off. This included half of the birthday party we were with. We approached the two staff on the pier (the same one who had yelled at us earlier) and asked them why on earth they had let others onto the boat ahead of us for no reason despite assuring us they wouldn't, when the next boat was coming, and who their manager was to complain to. They looked at each other and, I still can't believe this, ran away off the pier.

We were at a loss and my wife was on the verge of tears at this point. We were then promised another boat from a DIFFERENT staff member as the other two didn't come back. When we asked when he just repeated that we should be "more patient" - which was a slap in the face after what we had already had to put up with.

A boat came 30 minutes later and picked us up - the Earth Clipper. When we got on, having already been through 2 hours of delays, we got on the boat to find that all three toilets were broken down. So instead of finally having a nice journey to celebrate my partner's birthday, I stood on the boat trying not to wet myself and in pain from how much I needed the toilet. I’m quite sure that this is illegal as Uber Boat is legally required to have public toilets available.

In the end, we didn’t make it to Battersea. I needed the toilet so badly we had to get off at Vauxhall. I tried to run to get to a nearby pub, but didn’t make it – and wet myself before I got inside. This has never happened to me in my adult life and I was pushed to this point by Uber Boat not providing toilet facilities. We were then 30 minutes late to my partner’s birthday party at 7pm, having arrived at Greenwich Pier at 3.15pm.

When we tapped off at Vauxhall Bridge I was charged £40 for the pleasure of this whole experience.

I want a full refund and an apology. I want an explanation of why the above happened – is it staff training? Why were we yelled at, then lied to about priority boarding, then left on the pier alone as the staff ran away?

Refund. Explanation. Apology.

Customer Service Enquiry

I submitted a question to customer service regarding whether their Uber Boats went past the Thames Barrier. I received a speedy response confirming that I would indeed get a good view of the Barrier as they sailed past. However, it was the very friendly and helpful manner of the response which greatly impressed me. The best customer service response that I have ever received. Gold star to Nirali.

We had enjoyed a day of "hop on and hop Clipper Jupiter

We had enjoyed a day of "hop on and hop off" touring as far as the Clippers travel towards the Thames Estuary.
On our return my husband was taken poorly and the crew of Clipper Jupiter could not have been more kind, professional and attentive.
We cannot rate them highly enough. Well trained first class crew.
Looking forward to our next, uneventful trip!

You can’t rely on Thames Clippers if you have an appointment as they cancel boats at the last minute and make NO information available on their App, Website, or Twitter page all of which they claim relay service information

Poor customer service and management…

Poor customer service and management this afternoon at Greenwich Pier. One person selling tickets to a big queue. No machine working up buy tickets. No signage or any info that you can buy online or can tap contactless in and out.

Two pier entrances but no signs on them telling you where to board for which services. There were a couple of smaller temporary signs for westbound and eastbound but not easy to see at first glance. Staff at the gate were rude and witnessed this a few times, raising their voices at times. They were probably getting fed up with everyone asking them where to go - but if there were clearer signage and instructions, then not every person will ask.

Boat was late, then two turned up at once. We were then told to queue on the dock. Staff member let everyone off the boat, then took away the platform. They could see a few of us were waiting to board and said nothing. People were actually boarding at the other end of the boat. Two staff stood at that end and did not tell those of us at other end to board at the front. Luckily we spotted it in time. Then staff shouted for us to hurry up!

All in all poor communication from staff and general signage and information at the pier.

It's a great way to see the sights if your a tourist and on hot days despite being slower than the underground tube it's a whole lot more pleasurable

Good and NOT good

Good and NOT good. Great when it works and is on time and the staff can be bothered to tell you the correct information (better to trust yourself than them). Poor when boats just dont turn up and the staff tell you all sorts of wrong information and make you miss 2 boats in 50 minutes claiming they werent going where we wanted (battersea) specifically the poor staff on embankment pier at about 11:30am on sunday the 18th of may, one female and 2 males, gave me 3 conflicting sets of information all contradicting themselves marching me up and down the pier and in the end had no idea when a baot to battersea was going to arrive, we ended up having to run back to the tube and use that instead to try and make out battersea lift ticket time on time, which we didnt.!!!! Also for some reason the 4:22pm boat at st george warf just never turned up... we had a meal booked for 5pm before the theatre, this was our first night in london, and we had to pay £30 for a taxi to make the meal on time in covent garden, which kinda defeated the objkect of paying £60 for a weeks boat pass when by doing that and it being unreliable it cost us an extra £40-50 in total over the 4 days we were there having to sue tubes and taxis to make up the short fall of the boats. i WOULD use them again, as when they worked they were amazing, and a fantastic way to get around london and see london from the thames, much better than a tour boat. BUT next time i will have to factor in even more extra time for just incase the boats fail for no reason. Not good enough really since its supposed to be a reliable mode of transport, but what can you expect with uber?

Disgusted by the female employee who made a mistake and then left us behind.

Disgusted by the female employee who shout loudly, ‘the other end’ and when we walked down there she let them on at the end we were at originally. We ran back and she said she wasn’t talking to us and closed the gate as we got there lifted the bridge and left. Telling us we had to wait for the next one. Disgustingly poor treatment of customers due to her mistake. It’s expensive anyway so this rude behaviour is disgusting and so really not impressed. She needs a lesson in manners and customer service.

Half a journey

Paid for a ticket only for halfway through journey to be informed that ride would be termining due to...........high tide. Told there was a replacement bus service to find after disembarking that there was no replacement bus service. Had to catch a taxi. Sold ticket for a journey they knew they couldn't provide. Rubbish, avoid.

Oh dear whats happened to uber

have used Uber boat a couple of times on visiting London all went ok .BUT this time it was a disaster tried the ticket office at westminster pier after knocking on the window just to get the person to look at us advised that all you had to do was tap on and tap off waited 20 minutes for taxi in full sun told that all four of us had to have our own card we only had three plus i had already tapped my card expecting to pay for me and my wife so was charged £21 pound for a non existant trip. " a great start to our trip to london" standards of service have dropped dramatically. Will not bother them again

All staff are rude

All staff are rude , can't speak proper English. . We were just told to tap on and off . Didn't bother to tell us everyone needs their own bank card stood in hot sun for 20 minutes ended up not being able to get on . Would never use them again .disgusting service.. !!!

Staff are extremely unpleasant and…

Staff are extremely unpleasant and rude. I have a big family and they didn't let anyone on, even if some of had cards to pay. They didn't give us any chance to pay or buy tickets and we're not told before. We saw signs to say you can pay contactless and that's what we planned to do.. but they just threw us out like criminals.. seriously fire these losers

Overpriced and often full service.

If it worked as scheduled and was reasonably priced this would be great. But it is neither. First boat was too full and people weren't allowed on, fair enough. The next however was late, and also fill. Which when paying ~£13 for a single trip is frankly a poor joke. Wasn't able to actually use this overpriced service. Walk or crawl, it'll be faster and more efficient.

Unintentional uber boat purchase and refund

I had an issue with accidentally multiple Uber boat ticket purchases due to the app not asking for my payment confirmation and the network being poor in London.

I had a call with Patricia from (Uber Boat by Thames Clippers) themes, she was super lovely and informative and helped me resolve the issue quickly and I managed to get the refunds for the unused tickets. Highly recommend their customer service!
