Benutzung wird schwieriger statt einfacher

Machen wir uns nichts vor: Camtasia und SnagIt sind sehr gute Programme.
Ich wünschte, es gäbe Snagit auch auf Linux, welches ich seit einigen Jahren jetzt nutze. Und da Windows einen ständig zu überreden versucht, auf 11 umzusteigen - was kein gesunder Mensch tun wird -, wird Windows bei mir nach und nach komplett entsorgt.

Nun aber zu meinem Thema, denn ich habe nach über 10 Jahren beide Techsmith Lizenzen gekündigt.
Zum einen, da ich die Programme nicht mehr so viel verwende, seitdem ich hauptsächlich Linux verwende, aber auch, weil ich am Tag vor der Bewertung versucht habe, ein mit Camtasia aufgenommenes Video zu bearbeiten.

Ich habe früher bereits viele Videos mit Camtasia aufgenommen und bearbeitet, aber - for the love of God - mit ihrer neuen Version war es mir nicht möglich, Bearbeitungen vorzunehmen, wie es früher der Fall war. Es war ein höchst frustrierendes Erlebnis.

Mit dem Ergebnis, dass ich verzweifelt ein neues Video aufnehmen musste, bei dem ich alles, was es nachzubearbeiten gäbe, nur als Screenshot benutzt habe und den 'abgefilmt' habe.

Die Supportseiten haben mir leider ebenfalls nicht geholfen, denn die Informationen dort waren veraltet.
Alles in allem: traurig. Ich hätte gerne schlechter bewertet, aber das wäre nicht fair gewesen.

Trotzdem bleiben die Produkte von Techsmith jetzt aus unserem Büro weg; falls sie irgendwann mal auch für Linux etwas anbieten, schaue ich mir das gerne an, aber bis dahin verlieren sie einen Kunden.

Everything Techsmith is the Way to Go

I use SnagIt, Audiate, and Camtasia DAILY. The only thing I do more than that is breathe. Camtasia is and always has been my go to video editor. SnagIt is the only screen capture tool you need and none of the others come close to it. They are not even half as good as SnagIt is. That is how far it is ahead of other screen capture tools. Audiate: Where have you been all my life. The best way to edit audio and now it has AI voices as well. Let's not forget all the FREE TRAINING Techsmith provides. Been a customer well over 12 years. Wouldn't be a content creator if it wasn't for them.

Senstationeller Support - unkompliziert und schnell

Ich nutze seit vielen Jahren Camtasia und Snagit und möchte beide Systeme nicht missen. Jeder Schlüssel darf auf zwei Geräten installiert werden.

Vor kurzem sperrte der BitLocker von Microsoft - Danke an dieser Stelle dafür - meinen PC und ich war gezwungen, ein neues Gerät zu kaufen.

Da ich keinen Zugriff auf meinen alten PC mehr hatte, konnte ich dort die Systeme nicht deaktivieren. Nach einer kurzen Erklärung an einen Mitarbeiter wurde mein Schlüssel für meinen neuen Laptop wieder freigeschalten. Das nenne ich Kulanz und Top-Service! So hält man Kunden! Großartig!

I’ve been using this product for years. It is easy to grab and export my screenshots, add a variety of symbols as needed and even combine the images with ease. The updates have brought added value as well; video recording capabilities, themes, and more.

I appreciate how much you value your early users and how sincerely you respond to inquiries. Your approach always gives me a sense of trust and warmth. I also find it encouraging that the product continues to improve through steady feature updates.
At the same time, I sometimes feel that the feature introduction videos don’t always connect directly to real-world use cases. For example, when I want to create a simple text fade‑in, it’s not immediately clear whether I should use animations, transitions, or visual effects. As a result, it can take some time to find the right tutorial. It would be very helpful if I could quickly reach the instructions by searching with a specific purpose, such as “text fade‑in.” Additionally, having a guide that shows how to reproduce PowerPoint‑style animations in Camtasia would be extremely valuable for practical, day‑to‑day work.

The site's is pretty straightforward

The site's is pretty straightforward, even if you're not a crypto expert. I didn't need any guides or instructions. The buttons are clear and it just make sense. I never feel lost clicking around, which is not something you find a lot in crypto.

Forciertes Abo, AI mit falschen Aussagen, persistente Copy&Paste

Ich habe sowohl privat (Einzellizenz), als auch beruflich (Mehrbenutzerlizenz) eine Lizenz von früheren Versionen von Snagit gekauft.
Aufgrund eines Mitarbeiterwechsels wollte ich sicherstellen, dass wir noch freie Lizenzen haben und notfalls welche nachbestellen könnte.
Nachdem ich die Info nirgends finden konnte (lediglich welche Lizenz-Schlüssel wir haben, nicht wie viele im Einsatz sind), startete ich einen Support-Chat. Hier wurde ich zuerst von einem AI-Bot begrüsst - immerhin könnte man scheinbar direkt über einen Klick mit einer echten Person reden. Ich fragte zuerst den Bot, wo ich das Nachschauen könne und ob ich weitere Lizenzen kaufen könnte. Der Bot meinte, man könne Ansicht, in der ich zuvor war, prüfen wie viele Lizenzen in Gebrauch sind und dass man als Mehrbenutzerkunde bis zum Oktober 2026 weitere Lizenzen nachbestellen könne. Ich klickte anschliessend auf "mit einer Person reden", die mich auf Englisch begrüsste, aber ich hatte meine Fragen bereits erneut auf Deutsch eingegeben. Diese Person widersprach dem Bot (auf Deutsch) in beiden Punkten und behauptete, man könne weder sehen wie viele Lizenzen noch nicht gebraucht werden, noch könne man Lizenzen nachbestellen - und verwies auf einen ellenlangen Artikel.
Nachdem ich darauf hinwies, dass der Bot etwas anderes behauptet hatte, benötigte er eine Weile um zu antworten und schickte mir fast die gleiche Antwort erneut. Meine anschliessende Bitte auf Englisch zu schreiben, da er offensichtlich Englisch konnte, statt potentiell falsch übersetzte und nicht der Frage entsprechenden Deutsche Texte zu kopieren, ignorierte er. Nachdem er weiterhin auf Deutsch antwortete und sich lediglich bedankte, dass ich auf den "Fehler vom Bot" hingewiesen hatte, aber eine Stellungnahme zur Aussage des Bots verweigerte, gab ich auf.
Von dem "super Support" von anderen Kommentaren war hier meiner Meinung nach nichts zu sehen - nur die Schnelligkeit war ganz okay.
Mit dem Zwang auf ein Abo-Modell umzusteigen wandelt sich TechSmith für mich von Hero zu Zero und verliert mich definitiv als Kunden.

Camtasia is excellent for screencasts, Audiate not so much

Camtasia is excellent for screencasts. It offers many tools to make the experience interactive and help viewers follow along. I'm not a big fan of upselling premium assets, as it makes the interface and the asset search less UI-friendly.

Audiate needs significant improvements. When I auto-silence pauses, it always silences parts of my speech. Also, it's bad at removing breathing sounds. The software is counterintuitive and can increase your editing time rather than speed it up.

Thumbs up for Camtasia, thumbs down for Audiate.

Many "begginner" vids wave the cursor around the naming buttons and features quickly. I hope TechSmith will produce a vid that names each button/feature and walks me through it... slowly.

Very bad frustrating service!
So I bought Camtasia 2024 I only need the standard verion.
Got the updates though 2024 ( wich the updates of the bought 2024 until 2025 are with the bougt version) and it changes to 2025 version. Could not use it so i wrote and recieved a key until mu subscribtion was over. But I do not need these updas and now I wanted to use my bought camtasia 2024 but it needs a key I can not use it because the standard version will give a overlay.
There answer. Delete the 2025 and reinstall 2024 yes you will lose your setup.
If you decide you no longer wish to renew your subscription, you'll no longer be able to access the 2025 or later versions.

To clarify, your purchase of Camtasia 2024 included a Maintenance Agreement, which gave you complimentary access to version 2025 during that active period. However, Camtasia 2025 requires an active subscription/maintenance plan to continue functioning, which is why the watermark appeared once your subscription lapsed.

You now have two choices:

Renew at a Discount:
Because you were transitioned from a maintenance agreement, you are eligible to renew your subscription at that discounted maintenance rate. This allows you to keep using version 2025, access all future updates, and utilize premium features.

Revert to Version 2024:
If you prefer not to renew, you can simply reinstall Camtasia 2024. This version is yours to keep and use perpetually without any further payment.

Customer Service/Sales Failure (SnagIT)

From the outset, and to be clear – Snagit as a product is an excellent tool and use it extensively to support teaching and research, and Technical Support.

Unfortunately, the customer service behind it is anything but supportive. As one of the larger education providers in the UK - 20k+, I doubt this experience will come as much of a surprise leaving 2 stars - at best – and that is purely because the software itself is strong. The support to date could tempt me to shave off one more given an unlicenced product is of no use.

I have held a licensed copy of Snagit for a couple of years and renew its maintenance annually via our business purchase-order system. The renewal cost is modest, but its a licence no-the-less. This year, I raised a purchase order three days before renewal was due after a reminder was received. On the renewal date itself, nothing had changed, so I reached out to support through the website support to confirm they received my PO and to provide evidence.

To their credit, the initial support technician was excellent – I provided all payment and account details, and the issue was promptly escalated by him to sales. So far, so good.

Then everything stalled.

Three days passed. Nothing. I chased. A day later, I was told the case had been escalated to Tier 2. Again, promising in theory.

Five days and several follow-up messages on my ticket, still no action, no clarity, and no progress whatsoever. I signed out of the software and back in to see if that will help and the old date remains. My old key and account remains as per the previous year.

I appreciate that renewals may involve a convoluted process behind the scenes, but the lack of communication gives a very clear impression my account is being quietly sidelined, or worse, nudged towards a full-price repurchase and wonder how many others with the old licencing are affected by this. If that is not the intention, I apologise, but it certainly feels like it.

A great product cannot compensate for poor support that appears unresponsive, opaque, and frankly indifferent with no complaints or feedback portal on their own website - which is odd in itself.

I hope this experience prompts some reflection within the support and sales teams, because customers – even existing and long-standing ones – should not have to fight this hard merely to renew something they already paid for fully in the past.

Bonne réactivité aux US, bien mieux qu'en France !

Après plusieurs années d’abonnement à Audiate, le logiciel n’était malheureusement pas fonctionnel en France, ce qui a entraîné beaucoup de frustration.
Au départ, le support commercial Français n’a pas su répondre à ma demande malgré ma fidélité.

Cependant, après avoir exprimé mon mécontentement, l’équipe américaine a pris mon cas en charge très rapidement, en m’écoutant et en me proposant un geste commercial vraiment appréciable.

Aujourd’hui, je suis satisfait du service et du suivi apporté. Je remercie l’équipe US pour sa réactivité et j’espère que l’assistance Française sera désormais à la hauteur pour tous les clients, sans attendre qu’ils aient besoin de se plaindre.

Brilliant image and video software. We use Snagit and Camtasia regularly within TT Environmental, it makes capturing images and editing video really easy and intuitive. Thoroughly recommended, and we've been using them for over 10 years.
