I purchased a Mayfair office chair from T R Hayes of Bath. Firstly it came with some self assembly, not unusual for office chairs, but this chair was usually difficult.The instructions were virtually useless and it was impossible, once I had worked out how to do it, to fit the backrest to the seat base single handed.
So, a 30 mile round trip to the supplier where 2 men quickly achieved it without damaging the chair.
I returned home and proceeded to assemble the base and install the arm rests, no problem.
Then as per instructions dropped the assembled seat onto the gas filled strut, again, no problem.
But, I can't raise the seat from its lowest position. So, consulted the supplier again. Possibly there was a plastic cap on the gas filled strut which should have been removed before assembly.
So, consulted Stressless website and attempted to remove the strut from the seat base without success.
So, how having to do another 30 mile trip to see if supplier can sort the problem.
Hopefully they can, but my confidence in Stressless products has been sadly dented. Previously very happy but no more. I expected better for the substantial cost of the chair.

Bought 2 Stressless leather recliner chairs to replace 2 that had lasted over 20 years. My favourite seats. Also have a Stressless settee.

Mayfair reclining chair.
Metal arm support broken as the welding has failed reported to retailer. Stressles guarantee can take 4+ weeks to send a new metal bracket. Now unusable until fixed.
A month without this chair for what is a relatively simple fix is really not good enough.

Good communication and customer service between furniture shop ( hunter furnishing Ayr ) and myself, chair was delivered on day advised and I am very happy with it. The quality and finish of the chair is very good. It is extremely comfortable and easy to use. Would recommend to anyone who can afford to spend a bit more on a,quality recliner chair to buy Stressless.

Stressless responded after Christmas and New Year break with exactly what I needed to know. Would now rate our experience as 5 stars.

The chair is super comfortable with great lumbar support. Well worth the money.

Purchased the Mayfair Stressless recliner & stool from Lenleys, Maidstone. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Lenleys were able to liaise with Stressless, when I changed my mind on the choice of leather the following day without issue.
My new Stressless recliner is lovely and comfortable, I hope it will serve me as well as the Stressless recliner it replaced which I had for over 20 yrs.

We purchased a stressless recliner and a 2 seater sofa from a store in Newcastle upon Tyne in August 2025.
It was delivered on the 24th November.The recliner is perfect but immediately we noticed the leg at the front of the sofa had 4 or 5 strange marks on the wood.Customer services told me the marks were variation of the wood grain.We didn't accept this so the retailer sent out an expert to see if it could be repaired.The restorer saw the marks on the leg and said it was a manufacturers fault and could sandpaper and revarnish the leg in situ.I suggested we might ask for a replacement.He took photos and sent a report to the retailer.They offered to repair the leg and give £300 compensation.After thinking this over we decided to have a replacement.I have contacted the retailer for that to be done. I would have thought the quality control would have spotted the marks on the sofa.I will return to Trustpilot with an update.

Loved the comfort and style of the chair. Quality spoke volumes. Sales person did not pressure the sale telling us to think first as it was a lot of money. When we rang back to order the chair, he said he knew we would be back and had gathered all the details. A very pleasant purchase and a very enjoyable comfortable chair. Very pleased with the whole experience.

I love how the chair glides easily from side to side, however because of the design of the chair I find it very uncomfortable. The middle of the chair hollows back and the top bends forward. This causes stress on the lower back and neck. It pushes your neck forward causing a lot of pain. I have had to put padding in the centre of my chair to stop the pain in my neck and lower back. My family have tried it and they all said the same how uncomfortable it is.
To be honest it was a lot of money and I wish I had never bought it.
You need to change the design by getting a neck and back sufferer to help with the comfort.
