Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. We called on Thursday for a tech to fix our internet which had been down for weeks. The earliest they would send someone was Monday. They the said they would come Saturday from 1 to 5, but never showed up. They then said they would come at 8 pm, and again no showed without telling us in advance they were no longer coming. We spent all day at the house for them and they didn’t have the professional courtesy to tell us they weren’t coming. We only found out when we repeatedly called them. They then wouldn’t tell us when they would come after Saturday. They would not connect us with a supervisor or provide their contact information. The issue is still not resolved. We will be switching providers as soon as possible.

This company is terrible

This company is terrible, they will raise your bill without notice, plenty of outages at inconvenient times. Poor customer support, even charging you after you cancelled your service. Look elsewhere.

Crappy Attitude

Internet went out. Called Sparklight, they determine my Modem (owned by me) is bad. So I set a service appt (to be safe) and go out and buy a new modem. Turns out a GFCI in my garage tripped which powers a Sparklight gizmo in my attic. Reset GFCI, everything works. When I call to cancel and ask them to update their help desk software, the rep is the epitome of "I hate working here" attitude. I can't wait for AI to take her job, and more competition that will give me options.

We had to cancel a credit card due to fraudulent charges. Today Sparklight contacted me to say my auto pay using the canceled card was declined. It took me an hour and $10 just to make the payment with another card. Agents that don't speak English, a phone tree from hell and their refusal to accept a payment except online (not the app) exacerbated my difficulty. Replacing the canceled card with its replacement was a zoo. Sparklight's quest to automate everthing and charge $10 to talk to an actual English speaking person is outrageous.

I signed up for new service

I signed up for new service. Was supposed to get free 1st month but that wasn’t honored but instead sent a tech out to take 2 pictures of equipment that was ALREADY installed, charged $20 for that plus $60 for internet. I moved from TX, still have my AT&T/5G. I signed on to my new WiFi and service went down BIG TIME. Turned off the internet to use my phone. They won’t be getting another $60!

Our internet outages are frequent

Our internet was terrible. Technician came out, gave us their equipment with the assurance that internet outages would no longer happen, and speeds would be amazing. LIES. So NOW we pay MORE to rent their equipment, and the internet goes out upwards of 10 to 15 times a day. It doesn't stay out longer than a couple minutes at a time, but you can imagine how frustrating this is. They are one of the ONLY choices we have in our area, so we're sort of stuck with them.

INSOBORDINATE

On August 18th,2025, I called Sparklight, to move my service, by the 20th. I installed my PC, at the new address, on the 21st. I had no internet connection. I called SL, and someone there told me the transfer was all wrong, and suddenly I had 2 accounts. She did not know if she should delete both of them and I waited and waited for her reply. Finally she told me she had to confer with her lead, and she placed me on hold. After a bit, the phone was disconnected . I called again, and someone told me a transfer creates 2 accounts. Time passed. A few days later; bills have to be paid, and other things one has to do on the web, hasto be done. It is now the 25th of August, and they have set me up for a Sept 9th install. I called again and got a sympathetic person who signed me up for a priority install for the next day. I was in a happy dance thinking, thank God. The next day SL called, and canceled the priority install, but moved up the install to the 5th, of Sept. Bills, are due, life insurance, etc. Now I have to fmgo to a friend's house, and try to pay bills. It is the 5th now, and SL has showed up after hours; the office is closed, and that is the only way a connetion to the internet can happen here, so still no internet. SL is the only gam in town for most of the apps here. Some company should come in here and put them in their place, in Pocatello, ID.

Expect "TV PICTURE HAS BEEN LOST" every single day

Sparklight purchased my excellent former provider in Bluffton, SC. Since then, I lose TV service every single day. I reboot, phone a tech, have had two tech visits (after waiting five days each time.) I've had hardware replaced: "maybe this will fix it." I am changing providers ASAP. Had Hargray for 22 years with minor issues. Sparklight is a total nightmare. They are unable to provide what I'm paying for and have few techs available for service. I always try to write nice things about hardworking companies, but Sparklight shouldn't be in business! I'm also contacting the BBB.

I am in the process of finding another…

I am in the process of finding another internet service provider due to several major issues with Sparklight. Sparklight offered an new pricing model starting in May 2024 at a price of $65.00. 3 months later it jumped to $70.00 than$76.00 and $82.00 in September 2025.
If I wanted to speak to a Customer Service Representative it would be a $10.00 charge.
Connection speeds and downtime issues.

Such terrible service

I normally do not spend time having to critique businesses, although I’m passed my limit.

I moved recently to a new apartment and was told that sparklight was the internet service provided at my complex. So after setting up my appointment for installation I didn’t think it would be too difficult. Although I wasn’t sent a confirmation via email and thought that was odd, so I called customer services to send me one and I was told they could not. I haven’t had a service or installation not use email as a confirmation for appointment, but I accepted it hoping it wouldn’t be difficult.

Once my appointment day came I took time from my job to show up and I was given a time frame between 1-5pm. I had to call multiple times for a status update on the technician on when he would arrive. The technician ended up arriving at 7:30pm due to delays from previous appointments. I reluctantly got over it knowing I would have my internet services up and running. The technician then told me they couldn’t set up my internet because my internet line was ripped out. I understand this isn’t on them, but I was told they would need to send someone else to install my new internet line and I myself would have to make that appointment. Which I feel should be something the technician should relay through their own channels rather than myself.

So I made another appointment as well explained my issues to the customer service line the following day, but I ended up having to call persistently since I would either be kept on hold for an hr, never be called back when I requesting a call back, having to call multiple departments because their were zero callers in front of me, but no one was able to pick up. When I finally made my appointment, I asked to put into my note that I needed a new internet line and to call me when heading to my place of stay. Unfortunately both did not happen.

The technician arrived and basically told me he wasn’t the right person for the job, that they need a contractor to run a new line. I had explained to him that was the reason for my appointment. He explained then I needed to setup another appointment after my internet line is setup which I didn’t receive a definite answer for either. Which I now have to explain to my work center supervisor I need to take more time off again, which makes my supervisor look poorly on me.

So it’s been roughly two weeks with no internet and no definite answers. All the technicians and people on the phone lines could tell me was, just try and call again. All I can say this has got to be a joke, the amount of disorganization, the lack of transparency between technicians and customers. I’ve never had this much issue with setting up my Internet. I’m not sure how much of this I can take.

Terrible provider

Terrible provider, internet service is constantly in and out, which makes this provider NO use to those who need to work from home in any way. And don't get too mad when you aren't able to get ahold of anyone from customer service, it'll take at least an hour.

Frequently out of service, Terrible customer support

Frequently out of service, internet shuts off intermittently 10+ times a day, can’t do Teams calls for work because it resets constantly. Paid once, got charged 3x and they wanted me to ask my bank to fix their mistake - but still doesn’t show balance is paid despite having 3 confirmation numbers for 3 payments on the same date. Website interface is atrocious and not optimized for mobile, app is useless. Calling customer service takes forever and many, many menus before you can get to a human.
Support team, once you’re finally able to connect with someone, is kind and as helpful as they can be considering the terrible company they work for- so none of this review is their fault.
Over $100 month for “high speed” Internet that isn’t fast or consistent enough to work from home with.

None of these issues are due to equipment etc; problems only started after Hargray sold out to Sparklight.

Choose any other provider - they can’t be as bad as Sparklight!

Sparklight, has been down 4 times with the 5th outage a 7+ hr during peak business hours. My wife works from home. From 6:45 AM to 1:55 internet was down. Had to go to verizon and buy 5G internet to ensure primary internet so my wife could work. Wow? 99.9% Sparklight up time and no customer service, no one to contact only recordings, and no compensation for lost time I paid for, and no heads up or eta's via text. what a laugh!!!!! If there was a better solution I would take it. I ran an IT network for the government for for 39 years with better service and customer notification. Sparklight fails miserably, but who in Star ID has any choice? It's like our politics pick the best of the worst. We did not even get compensation for lack of service which we paid for! Verizon is not the optimal solution, but a primary for my wife to work and sparklight is a backup because you can't count on Sparklight for work. This is foolishness and poor customer service to the max!!! Talk about monopoly. Century link..... A less tenable option or sparklight? Hmm? No choice if you work from home. I pay two times the price to ensure internet connectivity......... Anyone else tired of the foolishness???? We should always get what we paid for .... or at least consideration, notification, and compensation for services NOT RENDERED!!!!

They say you hold your place in line

They say you hold your place in line, but 2 hours later. When you call back, they say your number 20 call. Now your number 34 call. This is ridiculous to be waiting for several hours for customer service.

I had to put 1 star otherwise I would have given it a zero! Our internet has been out for 2 days now. The message says it is supposed to be available in my area at this point. I follow the direction of the message and unplug and wait and reply and wait to no avail. So I guess I need to call the tech line. I am on hold for 15 minutes before they repeat the directions of how to unplug and reply and then IT HUNG UP ON ME!! So I go to call back and the website says it block calls from this sight. Seems shady to me. Come on SPARKLIGHT, you can do better!!!
