Excellent quality and wonderful tie especially for summer wear as the knitted tie is so light,

Okay product, 33% surprise customs bill on top
I bought a pair of silk suspenders. They are fine. Decent construction, nothing that struck me as special for the price, and not something I would call a standout.
That matters because the price I actually paid was not the price on the site. I paid $22 for shipping, then received a separate customs bill of over $50, which is roughly 33% of what the suspenders cost. Nothing during browsing or checkout mentioned import duties, gave an estimate, or offered a delivered-duty-paid option. The only disclosure is a line buried in a policy page under customer care that you have to go looking for.
I am not the first one to complain on this issue and how they notify you either. It feels intentional. Why would you mention it in a buried section of your site rather than when the customer checks out? Only one reason - they would prefer you not see it as it might deter the sale.
This is not a rare surprise anymore. The US eliminated the $800 de minimis exemption in August 2025, so every American order from Italy now gets a duty bill. This company knows that. Their own retail partners handle it properly, with one showing duties included in the US price and another flagging on the product page that duties are extra. Serà Fine Silk does neither on its own site.
At the sticker price these are a reasonable buy. At 40% above the sticker price, for a product I would describe as okay, they are not. US buyers should price it accordingly.

We would like to clarify that import duties, taxes, and customs fees are determined by the customs authorities in the destination country and can vary depending on local regulations, the type and value of the goods, and the assessment made at the time of import. These charges are therefore outside of Serà Fine Silk’s control and are not collected or retained by us; where applicable, they are paid to the relevant customs authorities, either directly or through the courier acting on their behalf.
For this reason, we are not able to determine the exact amount of any applicable import charges in advance. As stated in our Shipping & Returns policy, duties and taxes applicable to international shipments are the responsibility of the recipient.
We would also like to reassure you that there is absolutely no intention to conceal this information from our customers. We appreciate your feedback regarding how customs information is presented on our website, and we will take it into consideration as we continue to improve the international shopping experience.

Minor point: They may want to consider using a slightly stiffer lining to make the dimple in the knot (when you tie it) more durable.

I just received my order
I just received my order. I’m disappointed. In the description and image upon I based my decision to purchase was not what I received. The color is not white but rather a cream color with the blue medallions. I purchased this tie for my daughter’s wedding. I waited quite a bit but I didn’t mind thinking I’d be receiving it to wear with my suit to the wedding. I will not.
I’m used to purchasing Kiton, Brioni, Italo Ferreti and other high end manufacturers of silk ties and pocket squares. Your product falls short. Disappointed is an understatement. It has made me truly re-evaluate purchasing internationally.
In addition, you shipped a very flimsy package that was subsequently inserted into a soft FedEx envelope. Why couldn’t you have shipped in a more sturdy package? Totally unacceptable.

Regarding the color, we always strive to represent our products as accurately as possible. If you look closely at the product photographs, you may notice that the background is a pure white while the tie itself has a warmer ivory or cream tone. However, we completely understand that colors can sometimes be perceived differently depending on screens, lighting conditions, and personal expectations.
We are also sorry to hear about the condition of the packaging upon arrival. While every order leaves our workshop in perfect condition, international shipments are ultimately handled by the courier, and we understand your frustration if the parcel did not arrive as expected.
