I am currently dealing with a very frustrating return experience with Owly Eyewear.

The glasses make me feel dizzy when I wear them, so I contacted customer service to request a return. They first asked me for my eye prescription, even though I simply wanted to return the glasses.

When I requested a return, they offered me a 50% partial refund to keep the glasses instead. I declined because I wanted to return the product.

They then provided a return address in London, UK, and asked me to send the glasses back. I am located in the United States, so international return shipping could be quite expensive.

I am sharing my experience so other customers can be aware of the return process before purchasing.

I have Parkinson's Disease and I am housebound. I was unsure about ordering and sent an email regarding the need for 1.5 or 2.0 and Jonathan replied very quickly. My order was delivered in Ireland within 6 working days. The reading glasses are wonderful and, post double cataract surgery, I can now read comfortably.

Owly Reading Glasses Not Worth the Price – Overhyped and Underdelivered

Not Worth the Price – Overhyped and Underdelivered

I purchased Owly reading glasses after reading many positive reviews, hoping for a quality upgrade. What I received was disappointing — the glasses felt no different from cheap versions I’ve bought online for a fraction of the price.

Pros:
✔️ Nice packaging
✔️ Fast delivery

Cons:
❌ Frame feels flimsy and plasticky
❌ Quality no better than budget alternatives (e.g., Taobao)
❌ Overpriced for what it offers
❌ Misleading premium branding

If you’re expecting a substantial difference in comfort, durability, or design — this isn’t it. I don’t recommend the product unless the company addresses its quality gap and better aligns marketing with reality.

Hi Claudia,

We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with Owly didn’t meet expectations - thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

To clarify, our reading glasses are specifically designed to be incredibly thin (just 7mm), ultra-lightweight (14g), and minimalistic - offering maximum portability and comfort, making them easy to carry and travel with. Because of this intentionally lightweight design, we understand how they might feel flimsier than traditional glasses. However, they're made with TR90 frames and polycarbonate lenses - materials known for their flexibility and strength (polycarbonate is even used in safety glasses).

Many of our customers - now over five thousand - have shared how their glasses withstood pressure, were accidentally sat on, or survived drops without breaking. We've even tested them in durability demos with bricks!

Additionally, Owly glasses have no exposed screws or hinges, which are common failure points in bulkier, traditional frames.

That said, we understand that the minimalist design might not suit everyone’s preferences, and your feedback is important to us. As a small and growing company, we are able to and are constantly listening, learning, and iterating batch by batch to improve the product and experience.

If you'd be open to discussing this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out at hello@owlyeyewear.com - we’d love the chance to make this right.

Warm regards,

The Owly Team 🦉

DO NOT ORDER

I recently placed an order for reading glasses from Owly Eyewear. I followed the instructions for ordering the right strength then placed my order. The glasses were received quickly. But was disappointed when I tried them on and could not read anything with them on.
I contacted them the same day I received them via email.
They suggested that I forward them a recent prescription to fix the problem. I told them my prescription was several years old so I just want to return them & get a refund. I was then told they could only refund me 50% because of the international shipping.
This is my fault...I should have never placed an order from a United Kingdom company. Usually I do not do this, it was an oversight on my part.
I do not recommend this company. I am sorry I ever heard of this company.

So cute

So cute! Thin, light and easy to carry. I bought 2 pairs one to take to work and one for use at home. The blue light blocking lens also seem to relieve my eye strain. Thank you Owly Eyewear
