Rear lock failed so unable to access…
Rear lock failed so unable to access tool, team managed to get in without any damage to the van. Really happy. Paul on the desks was instrumental in making sure no damage occurred, so very pleased with the outcome.

Northgate review 5.8.22
We have nearly 180 vans of various makes and sizes from Northgate , the majority handled by Croydon branch. Following a new manager things have improved greatly. Our account manager Hayley Butcher works tirelessly to sort out issues and problems. We are still having major issues getting loan and new vehicles but this seems to be an issue throughout the industry. Getting hold of the branch can be extremely difficult at times and this matter needs addressing urgently as its not acceptable . An upgrade of the customer portal is long overdue as its not user friendly and impossible to get information from. However despite these negative points , We still feel a valued a customer most of the time and would recommend Northgate to others and I am happy to give a 4 star rating in the hope that my points are taken on board and at the next rating I can give 5 stars.

As I am sure you are aware, we are experiencing vehicle availability issues which is a problem being felt across the entire motor industry, and this can lead to us being restricted in what we can offer in terms of replacement vehicles however we will always do our best to ensure our customer are mobile.
With regards to your comments surrounding the difficulties you are facing reaching our Branch, I will liaise directly with the Croydon Branch Manager to raise this matter for you.
Aside from the points already raised, is there anything further that we could do to deliver a 5* experience? Your feedback is always welcome.

Appalling Communications
We took our van into the workshops in Croydon because it developed an engine management fault. The vehicle has been with Northgate for a week now. Tried phoning to find out what was happening, impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. Tried e-mailing but no response. Had to ask our account manager to intervene, this worked. A lady phoned me to say that Croydon was unable to fix the fault, so the vehicle had been transferred to Northgate Basildon. Basildon also couldn't trace the cause of the problem and the vehicle will be taken to a dealer. Very unsatisfactory both in your ability to find and fix the fault and in the appalling communications.

My 5 hour MOT
Honestly worst experience from a hire service I've ever experienced, currently still sitting in the most uncomfortable waiting chairs ever at 12.15 after arriving at 7.45 for a MOT. The employees more concerned about eating donuts having a laugh and joke over a hot drink than treat the paying customer with a bit of respect and curtsey. I'm glad my manager was so understanding about my under productivity today.

Had some difficulty getting through to my local branch at Croydon, however was given details for the manager Richard Cushnie.
Richard was extremely helpful and resolved our problem, with our vehicle being repaired within days.

A polar change
A polar change! Due to the company I work for, I have had to use Northgate for the last several years, each time I visited Croydon depot it was a dreaded experience. Not any more.
Arrived early 07:30 for an 08:00 appt, asked politely to remain outside the depot until 07:55 due to possible gridlock in the yard.
Drove in at allotted time , met by a very courteous staff member ,(older chap, flat cap) and directed to reception, where 3 staff members were waiting, vehicle booked and sorted within 5 minutes, quickly and efficiently with a young technician taking the keys and starting the servicing straight away.
From drop off to back on the road, under one hour.
A middle aged Gent, (Hivis bomber jacket, I think the new manager) came over and had a brief discussion with time scale and whilst I waited, engaged in conversation with the other people there, all the time assisting the customer as best he could. The only issue I could fault was the coffee machine wasn't working!

Complete failure to plan
Dropping the van in for a service and mot and pick up a replacement vehicle. Booked weeks ago but an hour after arriving they still haven't sorted out a replacement vehicle and now ask if a smaller one will do. Yet again northgate seem to think I'm happy to waste hours of my life sitting in their Croydon office

Peter, I am so sorry to hear about your delays at Croydon. Please be assured that it is never our intention to for a Customer to wait any longer than necessary.
We are experiencing exceptionally high levels of demand and this combined with many Customers extending their hire periods beyond their original plan, and fewer vehicles available from manufacturers. This is driven by global supply chain issues, which is beyond our control. All of this is affecting vehicle availability across our network.
