What an amazing Christmas we had. Truly memorable. This cottage stands out, whether it is seclusion, views of the clear night sky even a shooting star, to being at one with nature, spotting rare birds to owls. Easy access to beautiful attractions, May Cottage with its beautiful high quality interior is a wonderful choice. Can’t fault one aspect.

We booked a property for Christmas so our family which is split between Somerset, London and Norfolk, could be together. The day before we were due to make the 6 hour drive from Somerset, we had a call to say there was a problem with the property and it was no longer available! Norfolk Hideaways quickly found some other properties we could potentially use and we selected Larks Rise in Burnham Market. What a superb property it was. We had an absolutely lovely Christmas and made lots of memories. Thank you Norfolk Hideaways for ensuring we had a fantastic Christmas.

Booked a very expensive cottage and ended up with a staircase that was treacherous and so many rules and regulations that we left four days early and paid for other dog friendly accommodation. We had to strip the beds before we left! In all the years we have stayed in self catering accommodation we have never had to do that or endure such a disappointing customer experience. We will never book again.

Curlew Apartment, Wells-next-the-Sea. Lovely, bright and well equipped apartment with own car parking space, only 30 yards or so from the main road by the harbour. Superb welcome pack of goodies that lasted all week! Norfolk Hideaways are superb. They helped us pick this gem and always provide clear instructions on location and how to get in. And on previous bookings if there has been an issue they are super quick and efficient in getting things solved. Thanks - Richard and Bella

The Old Manor House, Brancaster. The house itself was as advertised-well equipped and very clean. However the cold tap in one of the bedrooms would not turn on. We notified Norfolk Hideaways on arrival, who explained they knew about the problem, and the plumber would be fixing it on the day we left. That was fine, but we should have been told before arrival. The shower then stopped working. This left one shower and a bath for nine people. Conscious of the water shortage none of us felt comfortable having a bath. Norfolk holidays acted on our e mail quickly, and the plumber was expected the next day, to fix both the shower and tap. This meant someone having to wait in. The plumber arrived and expected to be able to turn off the water. The stop valve was not under the sink in the kitchen as the house instructions said. My husband even pulled out the dishwasher to check behind that. Unable to find the inside valve the plumber then checked for the outside one. This was located on the drive. Unfortunately this was too tight to switch off. Luckily the plumber was able to fix the shower, but not the tap. One of the other taps was loose but that could not be fixed either as the water could not be switched off.
I was not happy as the stop-valve position should have been made very clear. Had there been a leak it would have been potentially serious. Also no working cold water tap is not very convenient.
I have e mailed the company twice and not had the courtesy of a reply. After this review was posted the company did contact me. Apparently the e-mail address I used was not a working address. I replied on the back of a received e-mail. When we rang about the shower not working it was the owner of the property, not the agent. This was not made clear in the property information pack. We presumed we were speaking to the agent. Apologies have been received, and I have agreed to amend my review.

We had a fantastic stay at Avocet Lodge. The lodge itself is beautifully designed – modern, spacious, and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was sleek and generously sized, and the kitchen had everything we needed for easy self-catering. The highlight was relaxing on the decking with its brilliant view, especially after long walks.

The location was perfect for exploring, with lovely walks from the lodge to the coast, Snettisham beach, and down to Sandringham. Combined with the amazing weather, it made for a truly restorative getaway. We couldn’t have asked for a better base for a wellness retreat.

Dog owners beware!!!
Felt misled by “dog friendly “ accommodation .
Felt like we were more tolerated with a dog , rather than welcomed.
When I reached out to Norfolk hideaways, they just pointed out their terms and conditions to me. No dogs in bedroom, not even on the floor, (in their own bed). As we understood when we booked,it was dog not allowed on the actual bed, not bedroom. Obviously my bad, for not scrutinising the “terms”.
I had to sleep on sofa all week, whilst my wife slept in the bedroom. As our dog normally sleeps on bedroom floor at home.
Also, old throws supplied to put over sofa, before dog allowed up.
These had been stored somewhere for a time, and smelled a bit dank, as when I pulled one out of the “box” of old blankets, little moths came out of them….
Our dog is a 8kg non shedding poodle mix, not a 25 kg Rottweiler!!!!.
That said, dog friendly should mean dog friendly.
Please read the terms closely before booking at their properties.
Definitely not dog friendly!! But tolerated…..

Misleading write up about the Barn as said had outside area to sit in - but found no private outside space, only a bench (broken back) and a garden bench in a carpark. No where to allow the dogs to be free and no where for us to sit without the gaze of all the other cottages
There were 5 adults and 2 dogs in our party, this was known when booking, it was very warm, we needed outside space to sit in the evenings. To sit in a carpark is far from ideal
The barn itself was warm as windows on middle floor did not open very wide, and opened onto a dark wooded area so no free flowing air or views
The barn needed some TLC, screws missing from door handle, master ensuite shower too hot and could not be turned down, fridge small for 5 adults.
The Barn was a good HUB for us but would not return or recommend

This was our second stay in Burnham Market in property managed by Norfolk Hideaways. We had a great time last year but sadly the standard of the accommodation this year was far from satisfactory for numerous reasons. We immediately informed Norfolk Hideaways of the issues and they could not have responded better. They encouraged us to move to another property after one night and we are so grateful that we did this. We moved to Creake Cottage which was spacious, beautifully furnished, with a gorgeous garden and great off road parking. Our holiday was back on track and we had a super time. Things don’t always go smoothly and on this occasion all members of Norfolk Hideaways staff who we dealt with could not have been more understanding and helpful.

We stayed at the Malthouse in Norfolk and found it completely unsuitable for children, the house stank of dog when we arrived, there was dead flys everywhere, clutter and and trip hazards, the hot water didn’t work and we found our 4 year old playing near the main road because the gate had no way of locking. We had to cut or 7 day holiday short and stayed only 2 nights after paying over £1600. Once home Norfolk Hideaways the agency we booked through tried to pin the dirt of the property on us and sent me photos of stains that were clearly years old and a photo of a single French fry left on one of the beds. Avoid at all cost, I’ve booked mush cheaper holidays that were a million times better.

Norfolk Hideaways acts as an agent for the property owner, so take zero responsibility for issues when things go wrong. We booked Holly Lodge at Wells Next-The-Sea for a week at the end of May and whilst the property was in a great location and open plan (which we like) the cottage was in a very poor state.

1. Mould in en-suite bathroom
2. Large brown damp patch on ceiling in living room
3. Grubby tea towels / bed linen
4. Toaster and hob v. dirty
5. Broken floor lamp
6. Stains on sofa
7. Garden poorly maintained. Garden bench in poor condition. Dirty umbrella shade. BBQ was extremely rusty and therefore not fit for purpose

In addition:
1. The owner was displaying a VisitEngland plaque on the property with a 4* rating but subscription had not been renewed for several years (I checked). We have been informed that the plaque will be removed
2. During our stay, a neighbour informed us that repairs to the roof of an outhouse adjacent to the property had been scheduled and the workmen would require access to the garden for a short period of time. The workmen were actually working for most of the day so we were not able to use the garden which was a major inconvenience
3. The bin area to the row of terraced cottages was located to the side of our front garden, so we constantly had people walking across the front garden to get access to the bins

What was incredulous is that in subsequent discussions with Norfolk Holidays, they tried to apportion blame to us for not reporting the basic cleanliness / hygiene issues more promptly. Remediation of the mould / damp issues would have required significantly more effort. Norfolk Holidays even had the audacity to say we were responsible for allowing the workmen access to the property because we gave a go ahead to the neighbour

Because of the issues described in this review, the workmen being the last straw, we decided to leave the property two days earlier than scheduled and, needless to say, we will never do business with Norfolk Hideaways again. It is finally important to note that the Norfolk Hideaways website does not allow you to post reviews directly. Interesting…..

A wonderful holiday at Scarrowbeck House. Perfect accommodation for our family across three generations. All the rooms were beautifully decorated and there was plenty of space both inside and outside the property. Being typical British weather we made use of the lovely fireplace and games room plus outside seating and BBQ. It's a great location to visit Norfolk beaches and the Norfolk broads. We enjoyed being in the heart of the countryside and seeing the cows walking past the window. Thank you to Norfolk Hideways and the host who were really helpful and we will treasure some happy memories made there.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable family holiday in Norfolk and once again have been very impressed with the Hideaways holiday letting agency.

Their websites are very informative with lots of extra details about the holiday properties and any questions are answered promptly. Transparent terms and conditions for bookings and the damage deposit. Online booking is very easy but extra help is always available by telephone or online chat if you need help in choosing a property.

Our Norfolk property was perfect for us. It was very clean and well maintained by its owners who had ensured it was equipped with everything you need for a comfortable holiday.

I always judge a company by how well they do when things go wrong. There are far too many of these companies around who smell making money out people by failing to be flexible with deposits. Since COVID days the "lose your deposit" mentality means customer bear all the risk. Despite cancelling the holiday with months of notice I lost ALL my deposit. £247.98.
From now on I will only use companies that are flexible with deposits, as it used to be.

Having been a homeowner and now a client my experience has always been extremely good.
Helpful and charming and extremely efficient.

Easy to book and select properties. All friendly members of team on the phone and very helpful. Stayed in the cutest cottage and staff made it easy to extend our stay a little longer and provided extra logs for the fire and biscuits, milk, tea and coffee on our arrival. Lovely location in Great Walsingham near to all the fabulous beaches and good local pubs for meals and drinks. Perfect !

Fantastic service from the 'Bookings Team' at Norfolk Hideaways who helped us with our recent walking holiday on the North Norfolk Coastal Path. Special mention to Sam in the Burnham Market office and to (??) in the Holt office for their help and support.

Have booked two properties in Burnham Market in the last 5 months through Norfolk Hideaways, Mahonia Cottage and Horatio Cottage and both experiences were great. The Website is easy to use, the photographs and property descriptions were spot on and informative and bookings and payment process very simple. All communications were responded to very promptly every time and I have even been into their office in Burnham Market to personally say thank you to the staff for one particular ‘thoughtful’ response we received in relation to a change in circumstances. Both properties we stayed in were extremely clean and I have given 5 star reviews on both as we had no issues whatsoever. We will definitely use Norfolk Hideaways again and look forward to our next holiday in Burnham Market 😊

Our experience with Norfolk Hideaways over the years has always been excellent. Very good communication, have assisted and helped us choose the perfect cottage, dealt with any problems effectively (that was only once) and we will certainly use them again.
We have just returned from Cornloft Cottage in South Creake. Superb accommodation! So well equipped. Spotless! Really was home from home kitchen stuff and equipment wise too. Although, couldn’t find a butter dish!! But even a magnetic shopping list!! 😂 good quality towels and bedding too. Flowers - a small thing but makes a great impression. Really it was lovely. The fact the fire was made up ready too was a nice touch as it did get cold at night downstairs. Has to be the best we’ve stayed in for quality of accommodation. We had a lovely time. The local pub just across the green was also good nd very handy. Thankfully despite being early March we were blessed with glorious weather.

I thought it would be good to add feedback on Norfolk hideaways, as I am the owner of a holiday cottage which was being fully managed by them. The service was appalling, we complained to them on hundreds of occasions but rarely anything was done. They arranged cleaning and maintenance on our property but the cottage was always dirty. We arrived one time after the check in time and the cleaners hadn’t been. The cleaners arrived and thought we were the guests, we sat in the garden while they cleaned. They were there for 1/2 hour and never even used a hoover or cleaned any floors, in fact it didn’t look much different to when they started. We asked for different cleaner many times and they wouldn’t change them and the cleaning and laundry cost £150 each guest stay.
We were charged many maintenance charges for various broken items at greatly inflated prices, over £3000 in the last year. The last year we made a big loss, which is why we left. We are now with a good agent.
If you have a property, don’t go with them, they are not interested in offering any service at all and will take money anywhere they can. Dishonest, unhelpful and very poor management is a fair description.
