Our Journey...- After previously running a charter company and training academy from 1999, we realised there was a way we could improve the learning experience for RYA Theory Courses. In 2005, we made the decision to develop an online Day Skipper theory course and sought approval from the RYA. After our course material was reviewed by Mike Diamond and Chris Slade, RYA examiners of examiners, we embarked on writing the Coastal Skipper and Ocean Yachtmaster online theory courses. We dedicated months to developing ocean animations, and worked tirelessly on the weather and passage making modules. Eventually, we completed the course, and it exceeded our expectations. Today, we continue to improve our current range of courses, keeping them in line with current RYA standards and quality requirements, while also bringing out our own range of Navathome Theory Courses, like the “Diesel Engine Course” and “Basic Training” courses. Not as good as I thought it would be
the sample given is miss leading. there's very little animation and its all reading based with very light descriptions. You get 6 months to complete it which in my opinion isn't enough. The RYA materials are great but the online course provided isnt what I was expecting or good enough in my opinion. I don't think I will get to do the final paper in time so will have to write the whole thing off and look for a local course provider costing me the same again

We do make it clear that the free trial is only an example of the course. Full access is provide upon enrolment and we do provide 14 days following this for you to decide whether the course is suitable for you. During this time we will provide a no quibble, full refund (including postage fees) should you choose to cancel
The initial course access is for a six month period and after this time it is possible to purchase an access extension for a small fee to gain access for an additional six months. Even if the course access should lapse; it can be reinstated at a later date and your coursework results are retained.
We do make this information clear on our website and appreciate that our students have busy lives and require the flexibility for their course completion. Usually six months is sufficient time to finish. However, the option is available to extend this, if required.
We would encourage you to get in touch to discuss this further as it really isn’t necessary for you to purchase a course again in order to complete and feel disheartened that you had missed our email explaining this and didn’t realise it already.

Fantastic Online Training provided by people who care
I completed the Day Skipper online training course and assessment. It was all very well organised from the start to the end. The maps and kit I received in the post were comprehensive. The online tutors were very responsive, even over weekends. They shared knowledge enthusiastically when needed, and I felt they were passionate and really cared.
You do need to put in the effort in order to pass the assessment. I would highly recommend this course, and NavAtHome as a training organisation.
