The Macs staff were great.
Our original walk had to be cancelled due to flooding but we were offered a perfect alternative in the Sierra Aracena and were also able to amend that to suit us better.
There was a problem with our pick up arrangements due to a late running train and then I wanted to make a change to our return pick-up. On both occasions, Macs responded immediately and sorted things out.
The App was easy to use, although occasionally we got a bit lost - but that was due to us not checking our position on the map often enough. The information about the places we visited on our walk was helpful, interesting and with just the right amount of content. The walk itself was fantastic: beautiful scenery, frequently changing terrain, a huge variety of trees and flowers, lots of wildlife, and hardly any other walkers. All of the accommodation was good to excellent, although the food I was given as a vegetarian at the one place where we were half-board was unsatisfactory.

My last walk was West Highland Way in Scotland in the end of March. The scenery was beautiful and the path was easy to follow. Well marked with signposts and the App from Macs Adventure was my security. But the distance was harder than I understood and I got pain in my knee and needed a rest day. I was in touch with Macs adventure and they was very supportive and understood my situation They helped me to sort it out. I am very pleased with Macs A and will definitely book my next trip there again. You can trust them when you need them and they are understanding and well organised. I can highly recommend Macs Adventure.

First time doing this type of a vacation and my daughter and I absolutely LOVED IT! Macs was extremely helpful from the very beginning - before we even made our reservation. The accommodations were wonderful and just as described. The recommended sites/attractions were amazing and we loved the freedom of the self-guided tour that allowed us to add stops along the way. The navigation was new to me and was very thankful to have my daughter with me as she knew how to read the directions - so my 1 recommendation...practice using navigation at home. The Portugal Sintra to Cascais Adventure was just wonderful - going from a village of palaces and castles down to the ocean and quaint towns. You walk through hills and forests, across streams and by the ocean. We went in December so it was the wet season which made for a couple days of really tough walks but that just added to the adventure. Cant wait for our next Macs Adventure

My brother and I recently completed the 12-day self-guided Tour du Mont Blanc, covering just over 120 miles — and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. We booked through Macs Adventure, and overall, I’m so glad we did.

We planned the trek somewhat last-minute (only 2–3 months ahead), and Macs was able to organize all of our accommodations — which would have been extremely difficult to do ourselves from abroad. They have special partnerships with mountain huts and hotels that aren’t easy to book independently, and when I did the math (including all the breakfasts and dinners that were included, luggage service, 24-hr assistance on the app, etc.), it was completely worth the cost for the convenience alone.

One of the biggest perks was their luggage transfer service. Each morning, we’d leave our 30-pound duffels at the accommodation, and by the time we arrived at the next stop, our bags were already there waiting for us. Having clean clothes and not having to carry extra gear every day made a huge difference.
We stayed in a mix of cozy mountain refuges (mostly dorm-style) and small hotels. The Macs Adventure app included a built-in GPS that was generally easy to use, though honestly, the TMB is so well marked it would be almost impossible to get lost. My main issue with the app is that it has a few glitches — the tracker stopped recording our progress whenever I locked my phone, so we lost some early mileage data. Hopefully their tech team fixes that soon.

As for the trek itself — it’s absolutely breathtaking. Every single day offers something new: sweeping Alpine vistas, glacial valleys, charming Swiss villages, herds of Highland cows, and even an ibex sighting. We averaged about a half marathon of hiking per day, so it’s definitely a physical challenge, but completely doable with preparation and the right mindset.

Tips:
The weather changes constantly — we experienced everything from hot sun to rain and cold winds in a single day. Bring reliable rain gear, an extra pair of dry socks or clothes, gloves, hat, beanie, sunblock, bug spray, and enough water in your daypack.

Water stops are limited. I read online that there were plenty of refills along the route, but that wasn’t our experience, especially since we went in the shoulder season when many refuges were closing or already closed. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for each day. Lunch packs are available at most accommodations to purchase the night before but they usually consist of sandwiches, bread...and more bread. If you want something different, and you're staying in a town with a grocery store, you can find vegetables, fruit and other options to bring in your day pack.

Bring trekking poles! The TMB has a lot of steep ascents and descents, and poles make a world of difference.

I loved the camaraderie along the way — meeting fellow trekkers from all over the world and sharing stories at dinner each night. The food in the refuges is hearty (lots of bread and cheese), though I sometimes wished for a bit more protein and vegetables after long hiking days. Still, every meal was satisfying, and the atmosphere in the mountain huts is unbeatable. A regular ritual became stopping at refuges mid-hike for a slice of pie and hot chocolate!

The final day’s ladders section was a definite adrenaline rush but not nearly as scary as I expected. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trek.

Overall, Macs Adventure made the logistics seamless and stress-free, allowing us to fully focus on the journey itself. Despite a few tech hiccups, I’d absolutely recommend them — and this trek — to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure through the heart of the Alps. I would use Macs Adventure for future treks.

My sister and I booked this trip with MACS Adventure for the last 2 weeks of September 2025. We are fit and active 60- and 63-year-olds and found the trip just right - not too easy, not too much. We had cool but decent weather and, thankfully, no midges (bugs)! Layer up and be prepared for anything: rain/wind/shine. The hotels and BnBs were all lovely, the train and car transport worked flawlessly. The App worked great too. We pre-booked many of our evening meals which was worth it as many of the good spots are very busy even in late September. All up, we loved it, and would do it again (except that there are so many other places calling!).

The entire process from first inquiry to booking to the app and the maps and the trip was seemless.
We completed the Cotswolds Trail over 6 nights and 5 days and the walking. The distances each day were easily manageable and the app provided easy to follow maps and notes as we walked from village to village. Each nights accommodation was easy to find and welcoming after a days walking. From country lanes to crossing fields and strolling trails through quiet forests an unforgettable holiday in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Knowledgeable when planning and choosing; well organised when delivering, with clear mapping and info in app, and sorted our only bag-move problem quickly.

On a self guided trail in Austria following the river Lech. We were provided with clear information on itinerary, transfer, accommodation and extra. The App is easy to use and once downloaded easy to navigate offline.
The weather was amazing and the trail not too busy but we met with some lovely people on the way.
So happy that we are booking another trail for next year!

This is the second time I have used Macs Adventures and the second time everything has been seamless. The accommodation booked was really good and the luggage transfer went without a hitch. I never had any issues with their organisation of my trip. Their interaction prior to my trip was also really good….I could speak with them and they would answer, I could email them and they would respond quickly. All the paperwork came through as expected. Their App was great to use during my hike… keeping me on the right path. When I go on my next big hike next year, I will use Macs Adventures.

Hiking in The Cotwold was a fantastic experience.
Using Macs Adventure to organize our trip was one of the best choices we did. Nice hotels were booked, all transports/transfers were on time. The app had a lot of useful information and very precise and good maps showing your rout all the way.

Accommodation excellent with friendly welcome. Food at the two Michelin hotels, included in the holiday, also excellent. Taxis to the start of the walks very efficient, with the drivers giving good tips on the area. Macadventures' maps for the walks easy to follow,plus marker posts for the walks similar to England.

This was our 7th or 8th trip with Macsadventure and each one perfect. Great app for following the route, hotel information and more. Perfect for independent travelers like us. No groups, no following an umbrella with 30 others, just exploring on own on. Slow travel is the best!

Really good tour...super accomodation and suggestions for activities

Macs organised our SW Path walk with care and great attention to detail. Off line maps work really well on their app. All accommodation was good and some was superb.

Just completed the West Highland Way with Macs Adventure! Great memories, photos & we loved the Scottish people. Kudos to Macs for the pre planning, preparation and communications prior to the trip. The luggage service was flawless. As we are in our 60’s we opted for more days, with several days of only 8 miles so it was a good way to explore the small villages & rest up. Our 3rd day was very hard due to rain, scrambling over roots & rocks, so be prepared with proper gear around Loch Lomond. The accommodations ranged from good to awesome, most being excellent.

We planned some months ago to enjoy the “North Coast 500”.
Macs Adventure provided a bespoke package of information, route guidance and approved/accredited accommodation, via their excellent App, and at a very sensible price.
Information and communications before and during the trip were exemplary, effectively holding our hands and leading us from point to point to maximise our enjoyment and ensure that we did not miss any of the points of interest en route.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to view some fabulous scenery and taste Scottish culture without leaving the UK.

Great, well-organised trip. I booked the Mont Blanc comfort highlights trip and everything went very smoothly. The luggage transfer worked out every day, the app was easy to follow and understand and we liked having a choice of routes to choose from. The food provided at the accommodations was very good (other than in Trient where it was just ok) and the actual accommodation was as we expected - nothing fancy but clean and just what we needed after a day of hiking.

Everything was done just right, from initial enquiry, to being on the trip. Although it was self guided, it still felt like we were being looked after. The app is so clever with the frequent updates. Hotels were all decent with friendly helpful staff. Our last hotel, Le Massif, in Courmayeur was something special.
I'd recommend Macs adventure to anyone and really hope to use again soon.
