I will FOREVER associate this company with scams. My wife was scammed online and convinced to take out a loan. The scammers recommended Lightstream as their preferred loan company. I filed a police report against the scammers. But the damage was already done. We finally paid back the loan on July 21st.

I WILL NEVER recommend this company as it is recommended by online scammers.

I had a very disappointing experience with LightStream. The application process required a significant amount of personal information, which I provided in good faith. However, despite this, my loan was not approved.

What concerns me the most is that a credit inquiry was still placed on my credit report. This negatively impacts my score, even though I did not receive any benefit from the application.

Overall, the process felt misleading and frustrating. I would advise others to be cautious before applying, especially if they are concerned about unnecessary credit inquiries and sharing sensitive personal information. Fraud. Be careful.

Be very careful of Hackers using this company to send people fake emails of loan documents, i have forwarded fake email documents to this company fraud department

I recently used LightStream to finance an out-of-state vehicle purchase, and the convenience was unmatched. I prefer to handle things digitally (online, emails) without having to call and talk to someone or deal with pushy sales tactics, and LightStream's process was perfect. I submitted my application on a Friday before a holiday weekend, and the funds were in my account by the very next business day (Tuesday). The website and account setup were incredibly clear and walked me through everything step-by-step so I knew exactly what I was getting into. I especially appreciated how they explained the auto insurance requirements—since it's an unsecured loan, they provided clear instructions on what to say to my insurance so I didn't have the hassle of adding a lienholder. Now I have the title in hand! Highly recommend for a seamless, 100% digital experience.

Scammers. run fast and hard

There is somebody out there using LightStream’s good reviews to act fraudulently! They took $500 from me! I do not believe that it is the real company. Please make sure you are actually working with the company and not the fraudsters! I have not actually worked with the real LightStream but the reviews say it all, which is why I trusted these people!

Applied for a personal loan with a reasonable rate online, which took minutes. Approval happened the same day. Funds received two days later. They did much better in all regards than my own credit union, where the rate was double and the time requirements were weeks.

Sent me a denial letter with a credit score of 797. Proceed to pull hard inquiry the next day on my credit. For what? Reached out two weeks ago and they couldn't even bother to get ahold of me? I've never had a negative mark on my credit report and make over 6 figures. Makes no sense.

If only I would have found these reviews first before applying - like others have said, run, don't walk, away from Lightstream. They'll rip your credit then give you a denial letter despite an impeccable credit portfolio and loan packet.

I was recently denied for a loan, I would appreciate it if all of my information could be deleted from your database(s), as I do not consent to the sale of my personal information.

I have two personal loans total to $10k. Both in good standing. I got lured in with Lightstream’s “competitive rate”. I decided to give it go for a refinance with lower rate to save some money. Still I got deny even with a credit score of 760+. What a waste of hard inquiry on my credit report.

Don’t waste your time and ding on your credit score. The competitive rate is a scam.

This company is a joke!!!! Do not do business with them and use SoFi instead!

Do not waste an inquiry on your credit. This company makes it seem like you are a preferred customer if you have used them in the past. I had a loan with them, paid it and was always in good standing. They send me mail saying I have preferred benefits. Doesn't seem like it, with a credit score above 800 they wasted my time and inquiry with a rediculous interest rate. Thanks for the lesson.

Thank you for your phone call yesterday, ( at 8:28 a.m. from 828-275-2420) it was very in lighting how you confirmed how dishonest, unfair, unprofessional, corrupt, greedy, ruthless (did I leave anything out?) Truist Bank, Light Stream Bankster and a company in have never heard of Truist Consumer Lending Service.

But the very important issue you admitted that Light Stole money from my account after Light Stream had full knowledge of the payment being made on March 14, 2025 and the reasoning is because the computer program designed by Truist Banksters, dishonest Light Stream, (which is a store front for Truist Banksters), is set up to take the moneys without acknowledging any payment that had already been made, accounted for, clear the Truist Bankster, Light Stream Bankster account, accounting practices.

The Truist Bankster, store front Light Stream Bankster would not change the interest back to the ½% less because Truist Bankster had lost control over my account plus had cause damaged to me from other Companies because of these ruthless unprofessional action all design by the Truist Bankster, Light Stream Bankster, plus another Company that writes check for Truist Banksters and Light Stream Banksters computer programs.

Thank you very much you have confirmed that the Truist/Light Stream Bankster of all these Companies are one sided and will not be responsible for their actions or for the dishonesty unprofessional ruthless greed corrupt acts.

You as a Human being should be embarrassed by this action, but you were proud of these actions, that is why you personally tried your very best professional BS, until I had enough of your own BS.

I will be putting this information on several website so future Customer will understand how Truist Bankster, Light Stream Bankster, are very proud of the corrupt computer program written by the same Bankster to stealing after they have already been paid and are very proud of these actions and do not give a dam about the Customers.

Truist Bankster did not respond in writing because ethe letter was 100% true and accurate of the BANKSTERS.

Light Stream has never responded before because they would have to prove more dishonest, greed, ruthless action

I'll preface this review with the admission that I was just turned down by LightStream, both single & joint applications, for a measly $5000 - the lowest amount that you can request. My credit score, and that of my co-applicant, were in the upper ranges of "good". I will say that I took out a $13k RV loan with them back in 2018 without any issues - however, they were owned by SunTrust. I managed to pay off that loan EARLY. I recently received an offer letter from them as a "previous customer". Needing a small Home Improvement loan, I applied as mentioned above, Being an IT Professional for 25 years, I will say that their website design & functionality is sorely lacking. If you get "declined" for whatever reason - perhaps you have a "credit freeze" at one of the big 3 credit bureaus - you have to start all over again with the application process - up to and including creating a new user account & password each time - not good at all. LightStream does have a reputation for hard to get approval from - in spite of the "marketing" on their website. From my experience, I'll say it's well earned.

THIS IS A SCAM!!! LIGHTSTREAM AND LENDING TREE LLC... trying to confuse people to believe they are Lending Tree, Inc. They sent over fraudulant documents with all kinds of spelling errors and then ASK YOU FOR YOUR BANK LOG IN INFO INCLUDING YOUR PASSWORD. If you dont give them that they get real nasty. They keep calling so I just started giving the false information so they could confirm it was me and some how every time they confirmed it was me. I think I got tangled into this web of a mess from using the Rocket App to track my finances and it was a link on there i clicked. DONT FALL FOR THIS BS.

After informing them I did not want a loan. They proceeded to call me 4 times in an hour. In my opinion this is a scam

I contacted this company for a startup loan for my new business. With a credit score of 780 and no negative remarks, along with minimal credit card usage and only a mortgage payment, I thought I was a strong candidate. However, after weeks of back-and-forth and requests for documentation—which I understand is standard—they ultimately denied my loan without providing a clear reason. The denial email stated it was due to their inability to pull a soft credit check, which turned out to be because they had my birthday wrong.

When I inquired about the issue, I expected a call or a letter, but received no response. I was told to submit a new application, which I did. I offered to unlock my credit for the soft pull, and an hour later, I received another denial. Again, no specific reason was given, just a reference to the denial notice. Upon reviewing it, I saw it mentioned an issue with the TransUnion report, despite my TransUnion score being 780.

When I reached out for clarification, I encountered a rude representative who told me to refer to the denial notice once more. It feels like this company is just stringing people along. They collect personal information but fail to provide the promised assistance. They often advise against using personal finances for business, which is what I should have done from the start. Now, I have multiple inquiries on my credit report that they assured me wouldn’t happen.

I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and plan to leave a review on their site as well. This company is unreliable, and I wouldn’t trust them with any of my personal information.

I have been a customer for a long time. I have excellent credit and I have paid back almost three loans. The last one was a truck loan, that I paid off in full within 2 months. I have tried for 2 weeks to get a truck refi and they just will not do it. They do not appreciate loyal customers. I am so disappointed with them.

They call and say they have a buyer for part of a Timeshare I own. Then they ask for money, which they say is only for two things. Two things become four. They send you copies of certified bank checks. You will receive by FEDEX. Never happens. They use the names, Brian Berry, Adrian Morgan and Richard Wakefield. Berry is the one who makes initial contact, Then Wakefield and then Morgan.

So far, all I can say is that they make a lot of non-fulfilled promises. They are still at it.
