Re the purchase of a secondhand Manfrotto 410 Junior tripod head.

The item was described as “looks like new” or similar and rated as 5 stars.

It arrived the following day looking very much indeed like new, not even the slightest of marks anywhere even with very close scrutiny.

It was very much a bargain price for an item which retails for considerably more when new.

Very pleased with all aspects of the purchase from LCE Taunton.

I was told the camera was fully serviced and fully tested. It wasn't. Plus the mirror foam became detached after testing the shutter. To be fair to London Camera Exchange, I was offered a mirror buffer foam repair and even a refund. Instead I chose to have my own camera repairman conduct a genuine full CLA service replacing internal hidden seals too as the camera is is super cosmetic condition. My Pentax repairman has since found other faults with the electronic shutter in manual mode but will easily fix this.

I have purchased many items online from LCE stores including Taunton over the years and - with one unforgettable exception - have always found the staff helpful, knowledgable and the items often in better (to my mind) than described condition.

This time was no different.

I bought an Olympus digital (now rebranded as OM Systems) lens online from the Taunton store.

Jochen, Rob and the rest of the team ensured that (once) again my inevitable questions about condition etc were fully answered quickly, and the lens arrived safely and on the agreed date.

Phoned about this camera and have to say the salesman was exceptionally helpful needless to say I ordered the camera which arrived the next day and I was not disappointed with the condition. Now shooting a roll of HP5 and will find if I snapped well.

Another thumbs up for an LCE branch, all LCE's I have dealt with have been brilliant. This time it was Taunton, who quoted a tradein price for an item sight unseen which they honoured against a near perfect used lens which I expected to arrive late afternoon or evening the next day only for it to arrive first thing in the morning giving me a great opportunity to try it out!

I enquired about buying a used camera from the Taunton store via the LCE website, with details of cameras I was thinking of exchanging.

The camera I bought was delivered in the condition I expected, but when I later took my exchange to a local store as arranged with LCE, it was refused. I emailed LCE who quickly got back to me, apologised, and took the exchange. It was inconvenient, but I appreciate they rectified their mistake.

It turned what would've been a bad review into a good one. I believe companies show their true colours when there are issues, and based on my experience, LCE proved themselves to be a good company who I'll happily deal with again.
