I thought i was the only one having problems, with them, there just as bad as the council. Come with lies and excuses and quickly dismiss your case.They also take weeks to reply back.

Horrific organization, which isn't fit for purpose and is currently operating on a timeframe of over 7 months before your case is even assigned to a Caseworker!

Absolutely useless company. The children's play area in Brigstock Northamptonshire is so overgrown the children of the village cannot go in there. It was always managed by the local council but has now been taken over by Longhurst. The grass is knee high and the hedges are overgrown with hanging brambles. Local people have been complaining for months to no avail.

Please don’t waste your time with this service!!! You won’t get anywhere !! They always side with the housing association!! Should be shut down !! Absolutely useless

It's now 20 months since my original complaint to these people. It's was allocated a case managed in February 13 months after making a complaint. A decision in my favour was made. The housing association appealed against it. That should take upto 16 weeks to investigate. That will be almost 17 weeks now since I've heard back. I asked for a call back and was told it can take upto 5 days. That was 5 days ago and it now 6.40pm so that won't come either now. Lost for words to be honest but if you can go to court do it these people are too busy to do any work apparently.

Housing Ombudman Service is now not a workable Service. E.G Put my case in 17/8/23...it took until 22/10/23 for it to triaged (Whether they believe they can accept your case). My Case was accepted. STILL has not been appointed a Case Manager and have been told from the 8/5/24 I could be waiting a further 12 months before my case is addressed. The Housing Ombudsman has become a worse timescale Service than the Housing Associations your dealing with. Sick of hearing in 2023 we have had to take on more Staff and they need to be trained. However this has NOT shown any improvement to the Service Failures the Public are on the receiving end of. Comes to something when the very people you turn too for help are treating the Public worse than the Housing Association are!! The CEO of the Housing Ombudsman and those who work alongside him should be sacked for the poor standards they are showing to the Public. And the Secretary of State needs to address this...Soon as!!

The Housing Ombudsman is a waste of time. It is not an independent service organisation, specially when they are funded by the landlords (Councils and Housing Associations). They add salt to injuries and never remedy the tenant's plights at the hand of Hosing Association incompetence. They don't even deserve the one star rating. They should be closed down.

what is the point in this service.
they are terrible.
they do nothing.
offer no help.
they dont want to get involved.
such a disappointing service, which is supposed to be there to help.
tried to get help from this company 3 times now.
they just say we cant get involved.
i think they should all be sacked and the jobs given to people who do want to help and is interested in helping.
seems like they are not a professional company.
they should defiantly be investigated to what is going on with this helpless service, who are appointed to help housing issues.

The housing ombudsman is a completely superficial service. I made a complaint against a housing association, the latter refused to provide an automated or official response, just ignored the complaint altogether. The housing ombudsman asked me for an official response to my formal complaint. I advised that the housing association refused to send it. The HO continued only asking for this information, despite me sending email correspondence I have had with the housing association stating that I have made a formal complaint and forwarded it to the HO. The HO still didn't accept. They are as bad as the landlords / housing associations that they claim to investigate. Useless service. They do as much as they can to block complaints.

Many more grenfell tower incidents will occur because investigations are based on hear say evidence than fact and independent expert opinions are not sort.

Please do not waste your time with their service. They give very unjustified rubbish where your problem will not be resolved.

It took nearly half a year to get a result of "sorry we cannot do anything and this case is closed".

The overall rating of this company says it all.

As others have said; you have to wait months to even have a case worker assigned, and then they will always side with the landlord. It's basically like a Tory MP looking into complaints against the Tory party. Absolutely pathetic service that only serves to further victimise the victims of greedy money-grabbing corporations.

Long time wait & not a favourable outcome,they ignore your evidence but believe the housing associations lies,their findings contradict their compensation amount.it takes them 2 - 3 weeks to reply to an email..

As bad as the housing your complaining about absolute waist of time they do nothing at all to help they just drag things on and make the issue worse should just closevthrm down because it's a total waist of tax payers money. Ifvyou got complaint about none existant repairs your best paying and claiming money back through small claims as you will get nowhere with these

Not fit for purpose, absolute waste of time and taxpayers money. As per their determination letter I won the case against my landlord, but still no necessary repairs were carried out. They can't make the landlord to do the repairs, they didn't even publish my case online. Don't waste your time as they take ages and they are far from being impartial. They informed me that the roof above the property requires renewal and they closed my case after over a year leavingus in utter disrepair. Honestly, absolutely horrendous service, sta away and use no win no fees disrepair legal professionals instead.

Pointless. The ombudsman is heavily in favour of the housing associations. Far from impartial.

I am utterly disappointed and disgusted by the abysmal performance of the Housing Ombudsman. After enduring nearly two years of bureaucratic runaround and presenting a mountain of concrete evidence against my housing association for their gross negligence and breach of contract, the Housing Ombudsman shamelessly swept my case under the rug. Despite overwhelming proof of wrongdoing, the Ombudsman barely made an effort to investigate and instead conveniently sided with the housing association. I wasn't assigned a case handler for well over a year and I'm not sure what 'investigation' actually happened as there were no questions asked of me and the housing association's version of events was accepted without doubt.

My complaint, which started in 2022 and concluded just recently in 2024, highlighted the housing association's invalidation of insurance on my flat, leading to exorbitant charges exceeding several thousand pounds for structural repairs. After over 2 years of headache with this case, the Housing Ombudsman ruled that the housing association should award me a measly compensation under £100 for the housing association's appalling complaint handling. This ordeal has consumed an enormous amount of my time and emotional energy, only to be met with this insulting outcome.

Adding insult to injury, I discovered during this ordeal that other leaseholders in my building are also battling the housing association in court over the same issue, currently at the first-tier tribunal. It's abundantly clear that the Housing Ombudsman is nothing more than a toothless tiger, dancing to the tune of housing associations, rendering justice a distant fantasy for leaseholders like myself.
In summary, my experience with the Housing Ombudsman has been a harrowing journey through the depths of injustice. I implore anyone considering lodging a complaint with them to think twice, as they are nothing but a useless and ineffective organisation, failing miserably in their duty to uphold fairness and accountability in the housing sector.

Discriminative ,fascist staff ,useless organisation .I hope the next GOV will close this office .. Money for nothing .
2 absolute similar cases ,absolute similar HA ...one complainer British ,one East europian ...Ombudsman effectively step up for the British complainer let down the east europian .The end was the same ....but one way took 1 year the other 2.5 year and had to wait the court decision Shame this organisation

contacted this so called independant service, it isnt it will never back you if you live in council or housing association. wasted over a year to get a straight answer from these all they did was avoid giving a straight answer to me. even after the court decided i was put at risk by my housing council. they still refuse to say or do anything even if you manage to contact them they have a list of answers, to endlesley delay them doing anything. they ended up just completely ignoring me and refusing to reply to any emailes etc. this is there help for a disabled 76 year old who lives alone and considered vulnerable, who was put at risk by the council housing him in so called supported housing. this ombudsman is a waste of taxpayers money should be closed down straight away to prevent them causing more problems to tenants. dont bother even trying to use them they avoid doing anything although it is supposed to be there job, i would not trust any of them to go and get me a newspaper. useless.
