Bad customer service experience Hotter Shoes
I purchased a pair of boots from this company on 10th October (2025) which cost £109
I wore them for the first time yesterday and I noticed that a small amount of stitches had broken at the heel of one of the boots.
I contacted this company by phone and was told I could send the boots back for inspection which could take up to 30 days.
I would also have to pay postage to send them to be inspected.
I then emailed the company explaining that this purchase was for a lot of money, inside 30 days and under the sale of goods act the boots are not good quality or fit for purpose.
I either want an immediate replacement or a refund and not have to wait up to 30 days for them to be inspected
I need them now as it’s winter.
Hotter shoes customer service are very unhelpful and it will be the last time I purchase anything from them.
EXTRA WIDE NOT
I have been a customer of Hotter for 30 years and have always been completely satisfied, however, my recent purchase was a great disappointment. I normally order 2 pairs of Shake, one wide fit and another in extra wide fit as on occasion I suffer with fluid in my feet. On this occasion I purchased Shake redcurrant nubuck same size a usual 7 extra wide fit in the sale. My feet being without fluid when they arrived I eagerly tried them on, well tried to get them on, so narrow and the nubuck was so hard. I really could have cried as these extra wide shoes were the only ones that were comfortable when my feet are swollen. I am hoping its only a fluke and will try a full price leather shoe, I am keeping everything crossed as I won't know what I will do for shoes if they are too narrow. There are so many people like me Hotter, please help.
Unwanted catalogues …
I have been receiving unwanted catalogues regularly from this company for 2 months . I never requested these, & I have no intention of ordering from them. There is no contact email address and I don't want to waste time trying to phone them to stop this. Total waste of paper

I’m a wide fit! Tell me why for winter season they’ve done beige in wide not the black patent! Who does the buying! Black patent is a must at this time of year!!
Quality is getting worse
Bought Thor GTX about 20 years ago= great. Bought another pair 8 years ago and after a small time uppers came away.(replaced by Hotter) I've worn this replacement pair only occasionally and the sole has split. Bring back the old quality and you might bring back this customer.
Good old fashioned service!
Made a visit to the Hotter store located at the Dobbie Garden Centre Chesterfield. We were served by Andy, a very friendly staff member who was extremely helpful and patient while my wife tried on numerous amounts of boots. Nothing was too much trouble. Good old fashioned service which sadly is seldom found in retail shops anymore. Well done!
One star removed for poor quality zip pulls, otherwise great!
I’ve bought several pairs of shoes and ankle boots from Hotter recently and I find them more comfortable and easier to wear straight out of the box ( unlike other shoe retailers) as long as I buy the extra wide-fitting. So I’m delighted with that. On the slightly negative side, the fabric pull tabs on my blue denim suede Chase II trainers have both spontaneously detached in my hand - one after only a couple of wears and again on the other shoe after a few weeks of intermittent wear. I’ve managed to sew them back on, but surely these tabs ( to open the zips) should be made more robust?
Quality is deteriorating badly
Hotter's quality is deteriorating badly. Latest pair of walking boots ("Breeze") is hard and plastic-y, not soft like its predecessor. More like what you'd expect from shoes costing £40 than £125. Not worth even trying to wear them in and have sent them straight back.
Inconsistent sizing, high costs of delivery/refund
I have bought many pairs of wide fit Hotter shoes in my size because they’re always comfortable and fit well. I ordered a new style-a pair of Mist GTX wide fit shoes in same size and when they arrived I found that I could only fit my foot into the shoe with difficulty-the toe area was cramped with my big toe being pushed inwards. The sizing seems inconsistent and because of that I am having to return them. I will have paid over £7 for delivery and refund charges, basically for trying them on. Because of this, I won’t be buying online from them in future.
Mixed feelings
You are charged for items that haven’t been despatched. Their refund process is very slow. Good communication. Fortunately found shoes suitable for my elderly mother with swollen feet. Just waiting for the slippers to be despatched.
Awful returns !!! Do not bother
Pair of boot brought in wide. Received and very narrow and uncomfortable so sent back - STILL waiting for a refund called to be told they will deal and send it over Monday! Nothing then had to send another email today and they’ve told me I will need to wait ANOTHER 5-10 days for my refund to reach me, and this privilege has cost me £8 to do all of this for a pair of shoes that don’t even fit!! DO NOT BOTHER
Oooohhh Hotter…….
I’ve worn Hotter boots for years - super quality that really lasts. On that basis I purchased a rich looking sage green Murmer boots, but what arrived in no way resembled the photo. An awful sickly pale green and a boot that looked cheap (which they most certainly aren’t) and nasty. Clearly another company cutting costs above customer satisfaction! Boots have gone straight back & you’ve just lost a customer!
No refund received
Update: full refund received 27 October after ‘disappointed’ email sent. They just couldn’t find the trainers i returned.
I returned a pair of trainers a month ago and the tracking indicated they received them 19th September. I left it a week and then called but was told I might need to wait 10 working days to receive the refund. I called again on 7th October and was told they couldn't find the trainers. I made a further call shortly after as I hadn't heard and was given short thrift on this last call. To date I still haven't received a refund and it's now a month after they received them.

Ah Hotter you said my delivery would be the week commencing 13th October! But alas no, as I suspected I receive yet another email telling me it will be now the week commencing 27th October! I placed my order on the 4th of September! My holiday has come and gone! So hopefully I will receive these before my next holiday? Or will you just send me another email in 2 weeks time?
Edit - as predicted I have received yet another email saying it will now be week commencing the 10th November!

Disappointed
I was delighted when I found that the Hotter Mystery Boot had returned after being withdrawn from the boots collection. I have already got two pairs of these boots in standard fit that I bought a few years ago and they’re still going strong. I recently ordered the Mystery Dark Cherry in the same standard fit but was so disappointed to find that, although the leather shoe part was fine, the calf measurement is now about an inch bigger than the previous boots that I bought. I now reluctantly have to return them as the top of the boots are now too big and gaping- even with jeans tucked in ☹️. I assume that they’re all like this so there would be no point requesting a replacement just in case

ordered shoes in shop July 1st as colour not in store. Told it would be the end of the month before they arrived. Later letter told me it would be after 18th Aug
No sign or infromation so phoned 4th September and told delivered to my paper recycling bin in early August - they had photo. i said it was a pity ihadnt or any notification about early arrival and location.
But they had the contract with Evri - I didnt Promised refund ... A month later
6th October no refund - phoned promised they would act on it after multiple excuses and blaming others. I said it had to be immediate as I was so disgusted I would be reporting on trustpilot and also discussing further action with my bank.
