HiQ Tyres & Autocare - Thatcham Anmeldelser 

I sent the below email to hiq customer services at 8.30am today. Amazingly they havent they still havent replied. I am hoping that posting here will get me a reply. If not I'll go to trading standards and the local authority. Garages are not allowed to behave in the way this one has;

To whom it may concern,
My wife booked my van (Redacted))in for a service and a repair at your Thatcham Branch, when she booked she asked if they would be able to replace a cv joint and/or boot as we knew there was a fault here. They said they would and would be able to carry out the work on same day as service.

When I dropped the van off I asked the manager if they would be able to repair cv joint on same day as service. I said to her,, and I quote "I am asking this because if you cant do it, it would probably be better for me to get it serviced somewhere else, in the nicest possible way.'

On the day of the service they called my wife to say the van was ready but they can't do the cv joint because they haven't got the right tool! Hmm.....

I went to collect the van the manager again told me they didn't have right tool.
She told me Hi Q in thatcham have not carried out any work on cv joints since they opened, as a result of this.
She said she had made a mistake by saying she could do it.
There was a boxed cv boot on the desk she was standing behind

She said there were no problems at all on service.

I asked if I could have a copy of the service paperwork

Manager told me there wasn't really any. I said could I have a copy of the checklist they have filled out. She ignored my question.

I asked that she come look at my van to show her the extremely degraded indicator light on offside rear. She said it was fine. I asked if it would pass an mot she said it would.
I couldnt see the point in showing her the extremely worn tyre on my nearside rear after that. (Tread in centre above legal limit but extremely worn on outer edge, I would have thought at least a mention of this would be appropriate. It's causes me to lose traction when moving off in wet conditions!)

How could these things have not been picked up by the service if it was properly carried out? (Photos attached)

I had to get back to work at this point so I paid.
I again asked if I could have a copy of the checklist they had filled out. She said I couldn't!!!

I would not have carried out the service at HIQ if I had known they couldnt change the cv boot/joint

The things that have been missed on the service are worrying, mainly because they are safety related and the only two faults I know about! They have not changed the oil either. Its been in there more than a year. This is all extremely negligent. What else has been missed?

They haven't changed the oil. The only fluids in engine bay that have been topped up is screen wash. Others have been left near minimum.

I'm afraid I have no faith in the 'service,' that has been carried out and therefore would like a refund. Contract was null and void from the start here anyway because by her own ommision, the manager lied about being able to carry out the work on the cv joint.

I'm sure you will be as appalled as me by what has gone on here and will respond appropriately.

Great Customer service! Popped in to enquire re: Tyres on Wednesday afternoon and got booked in straight away with the new tyre fitted the next day! Amazing and so pleased. Both Carl and Rihanna were so helpful! have already recommended them to my friends... so if you want any tyres doing, MOT etc.. HIQ in Thatcham is the place to go! :)

Very friendly staff, oil change service done quickly and efficently. Will use again for future service and tyre needs.
