A rega planar 6 with Ania pro

I was buying a new system to play classical music and had very clear ideas about the 'sound world' I wanted. Jamie understood what I was describing from the outset and came up with some excellent recommendations and then steered me through in a well curated and unhurried listening session. Having been impressed with PMC Prodigy 5 speakers and Arcam A25 and CD5 I then visited some other stores to compare different setups in the 4k bracket. Whilst there is some keen competition out there, nothing won me over more than Jamie's initial recommendation. I returned for a second listening session, again unhurried and without any pushing for a sale. I greatly appreciated this as it gave me the chance to listen carefully and get all my questions answered. Communication both in person and by email was first rate. HIFI GEAR is an excellent shop which puts customers first. So good to find such expertise.

Although I've only had a brief time with the PMC Prophecy 1,I can say they're an excellent pair of speakers. The mid-bass transient response is particularly impressive, boasting both impressive volume and exceptional speed. Even though they're just bookshelf speakers, the Prophecy 1 reproduce a spacious and expansive 3D soundstage, surpassing your expectations for bookshelf speakers and making them the perfect companion for music listening. Paired with the Chord Shawline power cable and speaker cable, they work perfectly with the Naim Uniti Star. They adding even more depth, richness, and stability to the sound, elevating my audio system to a new level. I'm very satisfied. I had a very slight potential problem with a new cartridge that I purchased a month ago.

Emailed a picture of my cartridge and they returned a picture of a similar product and confirmed all OK.

James and Charlie understand good old customer services.

These guys saved the day! I was after a particular item no longer produced and HiFi Gear still had some left in stock...and could deliver too which other suppliers wouldn't. Got it in good time and well packed...so, one happy customer!

I recently bought a Rega P6 turntable from the Hi-FI Gear store local to me in Hereford, it was my first dealing with them and I have to say it certainly won't be the last.
My P6 was to be partnered with a Rega Elex 4 amplifier which I already owned and had purchased from another dealer. I loved the sound of the amp but had never been completely happy with the DAC input. I had returned the amp to the original dealer for checking but they sent it back saying it was fine. I told Jamie at Hi-Fi Gear about my experience when I bought my P6 and he was very supportive and suggested that Rega should be involved in tracking down the issue.
Now back to the P6, when I connected it to the amp I was immediately disappointed to hear a loud buzz from my speakers. After a few hours of checking wiring and connections I decided to call into the store. Charlie told me to bring the turntable back in and that they would test it. No fault was found with the P6 so they suggested I bring my amp in. They tested my system but were unable to find any problem but rather than just leave it there they chose to send the amp to Rega for testing etc.
When the amp was returned, Rega had updated the firmware and had replaced a component which has resulted in the DAC input problem being fixed, great service from both Hi-Fi Gear and Rega.
The P6 and amp were then tested together in the store and demonstrated to me as being fine together, so I took them both home. Disappointment was immediate, the dreaded buzz was still there but at least I knew that it wasn't the amp and P6 as they had been thoroughly checked and demonstrated to me as working fine. Further diagnostics by me discovered that the buzz was being generated by my music streamer power supply and had nothing to do with the Rega combination of components.
I probably wouldn't have got to a great working system if it hadn't been for the perseverance and superb support from the guys at Hi-Fi Gear, at the end of the day it wasn't their problem but they went that extra mile to help me and leave me with an extremely positive opinion of the store and Rega. It has reenforced my opinion that it's so much better to deal with a knowledgeable retailer than just deal with an online box shifter, although I'm certain that mail order customers of Hi-Fi Gear will have the same level of support.
In a nutshell I can say that the level of service I got from Hi-Fi Gear was exemplary and they will definitely be my dealer of choice from now on. The store has a great selection of equipment that caters for all levels of budget and two demonstration rooms where customers can compare different components.

This shop is the real deal, I can’t recommend them highly enough. I wanted to upgrade my turntable and had some idea of what I wanted. I spoke to Charlie and he helped me clarify my choice and put in the order. Charlie got me a GREAT deal from the manufacturer. Less than a week later Charlie is in my front room setting it all up and it is great. I would advise everyone to take up the personal set up service it really taps into their professional expertise.
