I have bought guitars online before and had them turn up badly set up and requiring a bit of work (which I suppose is expected) but MCM seem to have done a stellar job, guitar out of the box was near perfect. Neck didn't need adjustment and notation was spot on. So they must set them up prior to leaving their shop. A little tune up and away we go. Can't recommend merchant city music enough. Rapid delivery also by DPD which is a nice touch. They could have used Evri and my guitar could have been thrown on someone's roof 3 towns away but certainly not the case here. (Always need to get an Evri dig in) yeah, keep up the great work team, it's appreciated.

Ive purchased all of my guitars at Merchant City Music and the customer service has always been amazing. I recommend them highly; staff provide updates with your order and also very friendly to chat with. Also, packaging is great, guitars are received in pristine condition. Again, highly recommend.

Wonderful! Purchased my first guitar from Merchant City, a Jet JS-300. Watched lot of reviews for these and knew they were considered very good value for the beginner price range. I ordered late in the day so expected as per their delivery terms to have the guitar in 2-3 days, and yet somehow they still got it to me next day. Truly phenomenal! The guitar had clearly been checked over and set up, and wow the neck on this thing is really lovely. My partner, a seasoned guitarist was also astonished at the overall quality, especially the neck and frets. Very happy with my Jet and the amazing service received. Merchant City are awesome, highly recommend!

The guitar (An FGN Boundary Lliad) was and is absolutely great, a Japanese model for less than the Vietnamese one from another well known 'big retailer'

I bought this bass four weeks ago online from MCM.

The Player II Precision is my first foray into the world of 34-inch-scale basses. I'd previously only played Mustangs (30-inch scale). So that I would have some kind of comparison, I also ordered a similarly-priced bass from another store (their own brand). I sent the latter bass back after just one day. The Player II Precision beat it hands down on all fronts and is still here: better balance on the strap; better pickups/sound; better neck; better machine heads; better quality and more useful tone and volume controls. And the LaBella flatwound strings I have on my Fender sound tons better than the other store's own-brand flatwounds. I also love the (apparently limited edition) Sparkleburst colour of my Player II Precision - gives the bass a James-Jamerson-goes-ever-so-subtly-glam-rock kind of vibe. As always with Fender instruments, you do end up paying a bit over the odds for that famous logo on the headstock, but I think the Player II Precision is still great value for money - especially when compared with the other bass I tried, which felt like a bit of a toy in comparison. My Player II probably won't be the last P-bass I own, but's a very good place to start.

My fairly extensive experience of UK music shops, both virtual and actual, has not been particularly positive, so it was with some trepidation that I ordered a Sigma S00R-45VS from MCM, as I had not used them before. However, I can report that they have the most friendly, personable and professional staff around, who do everything possible to ensure that the customer's experience is a pleasant one. Apart from being roughly £300 cheaper than some other outlets for the same guitar, all my questions were answered promptly and comprehensively. The guitar arrived (with free delivery) today exactly as promised, was in immaculate condition and was set up to perfection. I normally have my ultra-reliable guitar guy set up and tweak all guitars that I buy, but there was no need in this case. It was even tuned to concert pitch! Thank you so much, MCM. I think maybe you should offer to train staff in music shops here in England...:). Can't recommend these people highly enough. I'll be back.

I bought a Fender standard Stratocaster , it wasn't packaged nearly adequately enough. The tremolo bar was not fitting properly. It had all the signs that it had been returned by someone previously. Heard nothing in over a week. Not even an email to verify my return request. Very low standards indeed. Very upset.

04/08/25. I would like to add an update to this. I was able to speak to two people about this and they were incredibly gracious about my concerns. It was explained to me that depending on where guitars are made, Fender boxes are not always packaged the same, and aside of that, they both separately agreed after receiving the guitar back that it had in fact been poorly packaged, which seemed to have been overlooked by them, and they both separately apologised for that. I would not have been able to use that box for sending a guitar for repairs/upgrades due to the possibility of invalidated insurance should it get damaged, and the insurance would be high anyway. Concerning the email to them that didn't reach them, when I was told this I immediately felt bad and suggested I might possibly have not finished by pressing the send button. Who knows why it didn't reach them. Indeed the both people I spoke to will know this is what I actually replied to them. I feel disappointed. that the positive resolutions we achieved have now been somewhat misreported, because while accepting the possibility that I may not have pressed the send button, I felt I really had sent it, and apologised to them both for any misunderstanding. I did promise to come back and buy something to make it up to them, and if they look, they will see I have been researching their Website for the Fender acoustasonics and amps. I was also watching many reviews about them which took time. I also promised without reservation to update the bad review. I came this morning to do that. I am disappointed that after the very friendly and constructive conversations between us to see a less than correct report, which rather makes me look like a complete liar, but I don't feel the need to annoyed, just a bit sad and will be contacting them by phone shortly regarding equipment. I haven't come sooner as I've been trying hard to research what to buy. I shouldn't have sent a bad review and wil certainly think twice before ever doing it again. Because of the lovely conversations I had with them both I have also upgraded rating, as this is my genuine appraisal of the discussions that for me at least, sorted everything. We should put it to bed now. These people are well respected and I'm happy to be a regular customer. The tremolo bar really wasn't engaging properly for me, and I've had several Fender guitars. Who cares? It's a trifling matter. My primary concern was the box. If for any reason I decide not to buy from them today it will only be for a technical reason with a guitar that would put me off buying it.

Ordered a reverend guitar for my son, rang up the store and they were really helpful, explained when they were expecting the shipment.
Then once they had the guitar, packaged it really well & shipped it to me.
The delivery was really quick once they shipped it.
