Very disappointing experience with Furniture Village’s insurance cover

Unfortunately, what was originally a positive purchasing experience with Furniture Village has ended in considerable disappointment.

We purchased a matching dining set along with the recommended insurance, believing this would provide appropriate protection should something go wrong. When one of the chairs could not be repaired or replaced like-for-like, we were offered just £124.75 — despite being left with a dining set that can no longer be restored to its original matching specification.

We challenged the decision but, despite lengthy correspondence, were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution.

What was particularly disappointing was that when we subsequently visited the Furniture Village store to discuss our experience, the manager told us they no longer use this insurance provider and that other customers had also experienced problems with claims.

This left us feeling even more strongly that the insurance policy we purchased had not provided the level of protection we reasonably believed we were buying.

While I appreciate the claim itself was handled by a third-party insurer, the policy was sold to us alongside our Furniture Village purchase, and I therefore feel Furniture Village should accept some responsibility for the customer experience when the insurance they recommend fails to meet expectations.

I am sharing this review because I would encourage other customers purchasing additional insurance to ask very carefully what will actually happen if part of a matching furniture set cannot be repaired or replaced.

A very disappointing outcome and sadly not the level of aftercare we expected from Furniture Village.

Two professionals delivered, unpacked and assembled our furniture. Then showing the greatest respect to our property cleaned up and removed packaging. Well done guys!

We were looking for a semi-fitted wardrobe. The store had a decent selection to choose from, and the individual who assisted us was knowledgeable and professional. Purchase made.

The wardrobe is on order and not fitted yet, so cannot yet comment on quality and fitting.

She made the whole experience of choosing and buying my new leather sofa so easy and enjoyable. Tracy was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and really took the time to understand what I was looking for without making me feel pressured.
