Extranomical Tours, founded in 2002, is a San Francisco sightseeing tour company that specializes in tours for people who generally do not like to take tours. Our clientele is very independent and likes to venture to places where most tour companies don't go to. Due to the small size of our groups, our guests receive a more personalized and exclusive experience from us. Our tours offer a distinct "traveling with friends" feel, so that most people interact with each other and so we are able to visit locations larger vehicles do not. For example, we have a short hike up to the Giant Sequoia grove on our one day Yosemite tour from San Francisco. On our California wine country tours, we visit small family-owned boutique wineries (too small for large buses) that produce such limited quantities you can only buy their wine at their winery!
We are fully insured and licensed by the State of California Public Utilities Commission and are regulated and inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol. We are proud members in good standing at the San Francisco Travel Association. All of our drivers are drug tested at the time of hire as well as at random times throughout the year. We make sure that our vehicles are always in excellent mechanical condition by inspecting daily and keeping a rigid maintenance schedule.
We train all of our guides one-on-one to make sure that they are knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all, safe. All of our guides are also friendly, informative, and experienced. We test drivers on a periodical basis on their knowledge of the areas we visit. We also maintain a training program and a resource library for guides to stay current on relevant material.
We carefully select the locations we explore on our tours to maximize your time and see the best of the best, while always maintaining an adventurous yet easy-going atmosphere. On our tours we have a comfortable amount of time where you are with the group, but we also give you enough time on your own so you can choose from different activities that interest you such as hiking, shopping, museums, or just taking in the beauty.
We know you work hard all year long to take a vacation so we make sure to do everything in our power to make your tour a memory that you'll treasure for a lifetime!

Fantastic Tour
Randall was a fantastic tour guide. Very informative and funny with his commentary of SF sites. It would have been nice to have a little more time at the Golden Gate Bridge for photos. Also, if the tour could have a drop off point for Lombard St. and maybe a short drop off at Golden Gate Park I feel it would add to the experience. Overall great tour guide and tour of the city.

Regarding your suggestions, we’d love to include more stops, but due to city regulations and time constraints, we’re limited in where tour vehicles can park or pause. Adding stops would also extend the tour’s duration, which can impact overall scheduling.

This was a nice tour
This was a nice tour. Bus was comfortable and our guide Hannah was very good. More clarity on the time it takes to walk each loop in Muir Woods is needed. We finished the 1.5 hr loop in 30 mins. Also had only 45 mins in Sausalito which makes it really not worth the stop at all.

Friendly and Efficient
Dustin was chipper, even early in the morning, through unusual and heavily traffic and kept us on schedule, no small feat for a group of 26!

Wonderful exploration across the bridge
Alberto took us on a wonderful adventure across the bridge. In just one day we explored so much, from the Muir woods, to the wineries and the golden gate. All well guided by Alberto’s enthusiasm and expertise. Would recommend!

Randall was a great guide
Randall was a great guide, he was very insightful and very knowledgeable of the locations visited and the wine scene. A bit more time on the sonoma plaza would've been nice and the cleaning of the vehicle took a bit of our tour time, not in Randall's control but rather on extranomical side.

Great time at Wine Country
My friend and I had an amazing time around Sonoma and Napa. Mayo Winery was my favourite, all their wines were amazing!!! Randall was our guide and driver, and he’s awesome. Very knowledgeable, gave us amazing tips, and accommodated everyone’s requests, great guy.

Well-Organized and Memorable Day at Yosemite!
We had an amazing experience with Extranomical Tours — everything was incredibly well-organized from start to finish. The communication was top-notch, with constant WhatsApp updates, reminders, and emails keeping us informed every step of the way. They even sent a photo of the bus beforehand, so there was no confusion about which one to board — such a thoughtful touch!
There were plenty of convenient pick-up point options. Our tour bus, driven by Keith, arrived exactly on time — down to the minute. The entire day ran like clockwork, with the schedule maintained perfectly throughout.
The Yosemite tour included several breathtaking stops with stunning views — a true feast for the eyes and the soul. And given how long the day was, it was reassuring to know that a second driver was on board just in case Keith needed a break. That level of consideration for safety really stood out.
Keith himself was fantastic — friendly, funny, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable. He made the experience all the more enjoyable with his commentary and great energy.
I highly recommend Extranomical Tours — and especially Keith — to anyone planning a visit to Yosemite National Park. You won’t be disappointed!

Action packed day at Yosemite
The tour was a great experience, with all major sites at Yosemite covered during the day. Our guide Dustin was funny and knowledgeable, told us a lot about the history of Yosemite and the gold rush. Only thing I would improve is the communication for people joining in from San Jose, there were some misunderstandings. Great value otherwise!
