Excellent service
Excellent service. The changeover from my previous supplier went smoothly and on time. Also good to be with a company that obviously cares about the climate crisis and works to alleviate its causes.
Switching process
I have just been through the process of switching to Ecotricity, and hit a snag in the on-line application process. I then called the company and was delighted with the help given by Emily as we completed the switching process by telephone. So my first impression is of excellent customer service, treated with efficiency, courtesy and helpfulness.

I switched to Ecotricity about 4 months ago,it was all very smooth. I now pay for what I use each month which as a pensioner is helpful. The customer service is good, quick response and helpful staff. I have no regrets about switching. Green energy is the future so get onboard!

I was forced to be with Ecotricity…
I was forced to be with Ecotricity after buying my flat for a year.
Ecotricity never got in touch to mention they were my energy provider, so for a year I believed I was with Octopus until Octopus raised that I was paying for electricity for the wrong flat.
Behold, when I contacted Ecotricity I found out that they estimated my bill to be in the thousands, where other providers would’ve been far less. And because I’d never heard from Ecotricity, I had no idea the rates I was paying.
I disputed their initial meter reading when I moved in, but they were having none of it.
And as soon as I switched to octopus(properly this time) they let me know my meter reading needs replacing. Go figure right?
I will never ever recommend this company after the money they’ve forced me to pay despite their poor communications.
However, their customer service was responsive and isn’t to blame.

Octopus Energy are amazing - go with them instead
Im very glad to have had the great experience with Octopus to counteract how i feel about Ecotricity. Octopus are human - when they say they care they act on it. Cant say enough about how amazing Octopus Energy have been. They renewed my faith in humankind and went a long way to helping me in a really difficult situation/period of my life. Kindness from strangers really can do so much to help a person. I found that out when dealing with Octopus Energy...and others...who still care about kindness ... and act on it. Octopus Energy, without exaggerating, did something that really changed my life. They listened and then acted - and it has really really helped me.
FYI the response Ecotricity gave below is them "deciding their own narrative" about a situation

My call was taken by Lauren. She was polite and helpful throughout our conversation and was knowledgeable enough to answer my questions and suggest certain courses of action for me to take. My only reason for only giving 4 stars was that the quality of the line was slightly low and made it difficult to hear Lauren at times.

I tried several times to set up my new…
I tried several times to set up my new account on line but it would not take my DD details
I tried calling but went round and round the never ending options that took me back to the beginning
When I finally managed to speak to someone they were brilliant and could see my aborted on line application and finished it off for me
The website DD issue needs to be addressed quickly as I am sure less determined customers would go elsewhere Ahmer 2 days of trying on line and 2 frustrating trips around the telephone options!!!

Sam, who helped me switch to Ecotricity, was very helpful and clear throughout, answering queries with ease; a simple switch.
Jackie and Emma at customer services also couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.
However it took almost a fortnight for a callback to happen despite my chasing them three times.
Absolutely worthwhile as an ethical company providing vegan electricity and gas, as a not-for-profit company, and as an ecologically sound group.
