Aweful experience. Firstly arrived to a house and garden full of rubbish, which they tried to later charge us to get cleaned. Several maintenance issues that were never resolved, including a broken boiler, so no hot water for the final month. Then when you leave they try to take your deposit and if you argue via the DPS, they will instead send you emails fining you the deposit amount and threatening legal action. To add insult to injury, every email I receive have grammatical errors such as missing capital letters. Disgusting business practices that prey on poor students that can't do anything about it. Important to note how most positive reviews are from viewings not from tenants.

Me and my group had Connor as our letting negotiator and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Even though we went for another property in the end, Connor was so enthusiastic about the property and he really went above and beyond to help us with this property. Would definitely recommend this letting agency for student housing. :)

Forced to live in a very mouldy house with barely any assistance from maintenance. All house viewings were either unannounced or not at the time or day specified which is completely against our tenancy agreement. Takes weeks or even months to try sort anything out with this company. And you’ll get charged even if you left your house better than when you moved into it.

Boyfriend moved into a Clever student flat a couple weeks ago. A few days later him and his flatmate found some cockroaches in their kitchen. They reported it as an emergency on the app and they had no contact from the company for a couple days when the boys decided to call. They were not very sympathetic. They said they would have a staff member come up and they would call pest control, aboit a week later they’ve heard nothing. On the night they still find cockroaches in their kitchen. Disgusting.

Terrible terrible agency , worst in Plymouth , barely help with maintenance issues , sold us the wrong house and overbooked , coerce students to leave 5star reviews after every viewing , terrible

If you want a cockroach infested flat then this is the company for you.
Derek, who is apparently sentient enough to be in charge, thinks cockroaches look like spiders - bless him!! Also, if Derek asks you to come in for a meeting with him, take aa friend. He can get a bit fiesty.
Also, if Sophia is there and tells you that it's daytime, have a look out of a window as I'm not too sure if she knows the truth.

Absolute garbage letting agency!!! I cannot stress this enough, do not rent with them. They will do anything to get out of having to fix anything in your flat. We had mold in our flat since we moved in and it has been 7 months, they have not sent anyone to fix it other than their own maintenance guys once, who washed the walls and left, only for the mold to come back! this place needs to be shut down!!!!
There is also a leak they haven't fixed in a month, haven't even so much as given me a bucket for it. They have not done anything at all for 5 months, AND the hole smells like urine.

Appalling service at Peninsula, 2-4 Plymbridge Lane, Plymouth. Rubbish not collected - just see the Google Maps photos. On site security withdrawn to cut costs. External door locks broken so residents had to keep the doors closed with wedges to prevent unauthorised entry. Complete lack of any support for residents and glad our daughter is no longer staying there and found somewhere much better to stay while continuing her studies.

I highly recommend Victoria and the whole Clever student lets for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient service in the property market.

Despite the name this agency is not clever at all and I truly do not understand how they are still up and running to this day.

I have heard several negative cases (double booking people, failing to request documents then cancelling on people, overcharging,blatant rudeness and disrespect, the list goes on!!!!) in regards to clever but decided to give them a go, let me tell you do I regret it!!!!!

They cancelled my booking (At fault of their own) several months before I was due to move in then demanded I pay them a rebooking fee.First their reasoning was that my documents weren’t complete, then the second that my guarantor could not meet their criteria (surely this should of been decided before they requested a deposit?)

The whole application process is excessive, rigid and redundant and will cause you and your guarantor an extreme amount of stress. With this in mind I would like to highlight just how discriminative and inaccessible “Clever’s” student properties are. If you are from a low income background it is virtually impossible for you the meet their guarantor criteria.

The performance of staff at this establishment is extremely poor, particularly with Sofia, the office manager. Not once have I experienced professionalism nor effective customer service, including the basic principle of communication! Any Information that you attempt to convey is repeatedly not fully received nor processed by any of these people. They do not wish to assist you or make your life any easier.There appears to be no communication between colleagues meaning you are constantly being fed misinformation, leading to further difficulties

I would like to expand that there is no opportunity to discuss these challenges as “Clever” do not have any type of complaints procedure (Which I’m pretty sure is illegal under the Management regulation handling rules 2015)

But please do use clever if you wish for constant harassment via phone and email, which is even more distressing when clever attempt to justify the emails as automated. It’s very clear that receiving personalised emails containing your information is not indicative of an automated system.

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Sofia at Clever Lets was very helpful in expediting the guarantor process so that my family member could secure the accommodation that she wanted.

I haven't come across such a sneaky, manipulative person in quite some time. Thelma Baldry, considering you are management your communication and people skills are absolutely atrocious. Underhanded and just rude! Time to retire I think hun.

If I could give a 0 to Clever Lets, I would!!!!
