Burley ambience
When I asked for information they took the trouble to reply. I have not fitted the fire yet but it looks well and was neatly packaged. The delivery was prompt and the delivery man was very helpful.

The Pickworth fire is just awful
The Pickworth fire is just awful. Firstly, the "coals" look really fake. That bit is, however, the least of it.
The fire has never been great with regard to the handset and trying to light the applicance.
After multiple issues of having to manually re-pair/re-set the handset and appliance, I was advised to never turn the appliance off, but to keep the pilot light on at all times (ie the lowest possible setting for the flame).
Im not sure how this would be viewed by my home insurance company, but not prepared to risk it.
So its a case of having to mess around with the handset every time I turn the fire back on.
Will not be buying another Burley fire.
It is also very difficult to find anyone who will come out to try to fix this make of fire.
I have now read your reply, and would add that the supplier could not resolve the issues with the fire, and eventually suggested replacement of a £500 part. However, I then received instructions from Burley regarding the "performance" of resetting the handset/appliance, ( NOT shown anywhere in the instructions manual) snd I managed to get it going again, saving £500 to put towards a different brand of fire, come the day.
I approached various other gas safe registered people, but none seemed to know how to fix this fire.
Moreover, I would not be happy leaving this appliance switched on whenever I go away, for home insurance reasons.

We understand your disappointment regarding the appearance of the fuel effects. For clarity, the coals in this appliance, like those used by many manufacturers, are made of compressed ceramic fibres painted black. These are fixed in place to ensure clean and efficient combustion, which is crucial for safety and performance.
We note your concern about the advice to keep the pilot light on. For all manufacturers' balanced flue fires, a natural upward "draught" is required to successfully remove the products of combustion. Keeping the pilot lit can help stabilise this environment, ensuring a reliable flue performance when you require ignition. Please note that this advice is intended for day-to-day operation during the winter months, and we certainly have not advised keeping the pilot lit during long periods of absence, such as an extended holiday.
As we sell our products through retailers, they hold the initial responsibility for after-sales support. Have you reported these issues to the retailer from whom you purchased the fire or contacted your original Gas Safe Registered installer for assistance? If they need any assistance as they are unfamiliar with this product, please ask them to call us.
