Sent my watch in Dec 2019 for repair

Sent my watch in Dec 2019 for repair: Broken crystal and battery had stopped 3 years after purchase. Originally the battery stopped and I brought it into a local watch repair service in town to change out the battery for me. When he got the back off, he could NOT get it back on. I found out online that Citizen style watches purposely do this so that you must send them back to the manufacturer. However, some sites do instruct a way to get the back on yourself...which failed miserably resulting in a broken crystal. So, I sent in my watch for a new battery, crystal, and to have the back put on. Those were the only issues with my watch. Then pandemic hit in 2020, and I knew it would take awhile to repair and send back. Totally understandable. Repair was under $100 and fair. My watch was sent back May 2021. Everything was repaired, except the band of my watch was cut clean in half! Not broken, actually looks like someone snipped it with scissors. It was not damaged when I sent it in and the notes regarding the inspection when it was received by Citizen didn't state the damage. It stated the band being cut in the 6 o'clock position (which was from me cutting off the excess end of the band to accommodate my tiny wrist). The part of the band that was snipped in half was done at the 12 o'clock portion of the band where the buckle was. Called and spoke to service, and they guy was extremely lackluster in his customer service skills and said my watch could not have possibly been cut at their location. I told him if the watchband needed repair at time of sending it in, I certainly would have noted that on my repair instructions. They sent my watch back well packaged in a box with no damage. They finally said they needed to see the watch to survey the damage and I needed to send the WHOLE WATCH back to them in the mail! They said they couldn't just have me send back the watch band only or even better email or text them a photo of the watch with the damaged band. They didn't apologize and the guy sounded totally bored on the phone. Told him I didn't want to send my watch back in to them if it came back with a damaged band to begin with. I don't recommend this company, especially if you need to send the watch to them for repairs. I recommend Etsy or privately owned company if you wish to purchase a watch instead.

This Bulova watch that I got has been…

This Bulova watch that I got has been sent 3 times to the repair center in 2 year and this time again when I sent it, it was sent back to me with a letter saying that the warrant has expired and I need to get in touch with the menufacturer . I have written to them and its been more then 2 weeks now that I am still waiting to hear from them. I am really disappointed because this was a gift from my husband I have hardly used it literally 4 to 5 times and it has stopped working equal to the time I have used it . I am really upset and tired also and really dont know what to do as no help has been extended at all from anywhere. 98R209 is I guess the model number and that is what is written on the dial.

BULOVA=Bad quality no guarantee

I bought a Bulova Curv 9 months ago. After 8 months the wristband was broken by the connection with the watch. Contacted Bulova, no guarantee and not possible to repair. 800 euro gone. VERY BAD
Be careful if you consider to buy a watch from this brand.

The bulova’s watch box is now bad…

The bulova’s watch box is now bad quality. Im a bulova lover since many years ago, and the experience to open the box for first time was exiting, but now the box looks like a common box watch, in addition you are spending $200-$500 dollar for a good watch and good presentation.

Disappointed

I received my Bulova Accutron Precisionist 2 years ago for my 10 yr. work anniversary gift. It was very accurate. However, it is losing an entire minute per day now. I am now wearing my $43 Casio G Shock which is accurate. I was hoping to simply send it in. But must fill out form. I cannot read the serial numbers on back of Bulova. So, putting the Bulova up and back to Casio. Very sad as I assumed it was a tough, accurate quality timepiece. I work at a desk.

In the sixties

In the sixties, Britain was shedding post-war depression and the ‘baby boomers’ were now teenagers with money to spend on fashion, music and changed lifestyles. The BBC was in sole control of radio broadcasting and was still locked in the music hall/band era, playing only established artists and ignoring new music trends.

A young Irishman called Ronan O’Rahilly saw that he would never get air play for the new artists he was promoting, the likes of Georgie Fame, and that the only remedy was to have his own radio station. But British law prohibited this. So, he turned a ship into a floating radio station and anchored it beyond UK jurisdiction in international waters. Radio Caroline was born. The new station was a revelation, playing new pop music all day and soon Radio Caroline had millions of listeners, far more than the BBC.

As the 1967 Sumer of Love approached, everyone was happy aside from the government. In August 1967 the Labour Government introduced the Marine Offences Broadcasting Act, a new law designed to make Radio Caroline and the other copycat stations that had popped up unprofitable by banning, with threats of fines and imprisonment, every activity connected with the stations, including placing advertisements. This law created the ‘pirate radio stations’.

The first main ad on Radio Caroline in 1964 was for Bulova watches and they provided a quartz clock for the studio. A catchy ten-second jingle was created for the hourly time check, with a ‘tick-tock’ backing and a female voice singing: ‘To choose the perfect picture, remember this rhyme, when something happy happens, it’s Bulova watch time’. Bulova also sponsored a weekly show in 1965 ‘Bulova Star Choice’. At that time Caroline had 8 million listeners.

There followed many significant dramas over the year. The sinking of Caroline’s pirate radio ship ‘Mi Amigo’ in the late 70s and its replacement with ‘Ross Revenge’, the ship still in use today and the world’s only remaining radio ship still in operation at sea. The illegal raid by the Dutch authorities in the late 80s who smashed up every piece of broadcasting equipment they could find. The subsequent grounding of Ross Revenge on the Goodwin Sands, one of the few ships to survive running around there.

Fast forward to today and Radio Caroline has overcome and against the odds the station is still broadcasting album music from the 60s to brand-new music with a healthy listener figures online, on DAB and on 648 AM. The station has a loyal following, many who followed Caroline in the early days are still with the station today.

Radio Caroline is run entirely by volunteers. Advertising and sponsorship are important to the station and help to fund station operating costs and maintain its radio ship ‘Ross Revenge’, which is moored on the River Blackwater in Essex.

While Caroline broadcasts 24/7, mainly from land-based studios these days, one weekend a month the station broadcasts live from Ross Revenge as Radio Caroline North. Each live broadcast from the ship is sponsored by a company whose financial support covers some of the costs of the broadcast. Two years ago Radio Caroline station manager Peter Moore approached Russ Dee, director of Rush Jets, who agreed, with sister company Inflight Goods, to sponsor the Christmas broadcast from ‘Ross Revenge’. They also provided two prestigious Bulova watches to give away as prizes in the monthly Radio Caroline North competition, along with some specially made Radio Caroline cufflinks. The partnership was a big success both for Caroline and for Rush Jets and Inflight Goods, who were heavily promoted in return.

Radio Caroline’s association with Rush Jets and Inflight Goods has continued. More broadcast sponsorships followed and both companies are jointly advertising each month on the station. The ad is in the form of a competition to win luxury watches, including Rotary, Timberland and Dreyfuss. Rush Jets and Inflight Goods pay Caroline for advertising and receive income

Service center and authorized dealers scamming on repair costs.

After 2 years of only weekend use the watch needed a new crown, took for repair. After another year of only weekend use the crown was broken again. Believing it to be a manufacturing defect, I took to a different publicized authorized store to send for authorized repair and they overcharged by €100 the admitted €70 cost and not only does the store refuse to reimburse, citizen refuses to intervene. Bottom line is they are supporting the fraudulent business practices of the same stores they advertise on their website, and are therefore complicit. This experience will ensure I no longer buy their products and will suggest others not to either.

Quality watches.

I’ve been collecting Bulova watches for around 5-6 years. I first bought the precisionist chronograph in stainless steel. Great quality watch. Since then I’ve bought 12 Bulova watches all around £3-600. Each one I have bought has been very reliable and great quality. I’ve found Ernest Jones price compare offer brings down the RRP massively. I’ve saved over £140 on a few watches.

Only one star

Only one star, for write a review, bad customer services supposedly they have warranty In bulova watchs for 3 years, the first time I send my watch to a authorized repair center in Los Angeles, after six months the watch star with problems, they fixed, and 10 months later again, I went to change the battery, I was thinking need a new one, surprise, has other serious problem. I send to bulova in New York and they send a letter with the cost for repair.??????? I call to them, long time waiting for somebody answer the call. I live a message never they call back, bad, bad, customer services and they don’t respect the warranty they offer. I don’t buy bulova a watches more, I has a long collection bud I look for other brand more seriously!

When it comes to Bulova...

I am mixed when it comes to Bulova. The technology is interesting (like the precisionist movement) and they have been around for an entire century. But Bulova uses 316 steel, which is a common steel material and definitely not premium materials.

My update

Got an update, I was able to get this info from Bulova CS
Please find below our step by step process for battery replacement and repairs on watches under guarantee;
1. Watch is externally assessed by our repairs administration team (i understand and agree)

2. If the watch is not working an estimate for a battery replacement is sent to you ( i don't understand a repair center without a spare battery to use to test the watches, the battery they use CR2016, in my case, has a self-discharge to about 1% per year...

3. Once payment is made the watch will be sent to a technician for the battery replacement

4. If the technician finds the battery is not working, they will then advise our repairs administration team, a service is necessary

5. The customer service team would then contact you to advise we are servicing the watch and refunding the total cost of the battery replacement that you paid for ( this is a piece of good news)

the Bulova code for the battery replacement package is PJM03 that from my finding is a Maxell CR2016, for general use from Maxell chart, they charge 33.60£ / 38.47€.

Stopped after 2 years and No warranty if battery changed

Bought a Bulova Precisionist watch which at first was excellent, never lost a second, was of excellent build and design with no issues untill the battery ran out after 2 years , I have always changed my batterys myself as its something i have done for over 30 years for my own watch collection as there is no authorised dealer to have it changed with anywhere near me anyway , But on this occasion the watch would not work even after checking the new battery voltage was correct , contacted Bulova who just said in one sentance go to Citezen web page who said send the watch to the service center to be looked at,I did send it under warranty and was told the warranty is null and void as i replaced the battery myself ,and will have to pay £180 for a service , I said the watch sould not need a service as only 2 years old in excellent as new condition as i have same brand and others fully working with no issues over 15 -20 years old ,The next email came off Citezen and it was now a repair with no repair issues or problems given with the watch mentioned and was not told what was wrong with it but the price was the same , had a letter from service center with an invoice the same week with just service info on it and the price ,no matter what a service or repair it was the same price so i had the watch back as something is up when a service changes to a repair and the price dont change ,so check your warranty to see if you can wind the watch or change the time and date without a specialist authorised repair center doing it for you or lose your warranty

Bulova watch stopped working within 8 months of Purchase. Bulova refused to honour 2 year warranty.

The Bulova watch I bought stopped working after only 8 months. A lot of the UK links for their site don't work but I finally got access to a returns form.

Bulova were slow to log the repair but eventually they said it was a battery problem and despite being under a 2 year warranty they wanted £23 for a new battery. Something that costs them less than 10p at trade prices and with no guarantee that it'll last more then the 8 months of the original supplied battery.

When I got the watch back, not only did they not return the original packaging as requested but the inner glass has dust particles in it and the needles of the stopwatch were no longer aligned to zero.

I would've been better off with a cheap £10 unbranded watch.

I'll definitely avoid Bulova and Citizen watches in future.

Satisfied Customer!

Trying to understand the previous review. This is for Bulova watches, right? I just ordered directly from Bulova for the first time, after buying Bulova watches from jewelry stores. I loved the ones I bought from jewelry stores. So decided to try buying online. I got exactly what I wanted, perfectly sized, very quickly. I would definitely order again. I have had several of the "nicer" watch brands, and I have had problems with most of them. Not with Bulova.
