DO NOT RENT HONEY BEAR HAVEN!

This is the worst cabin I've ever stayed at! This cabin should be pulled from renting until all items have been fixed, or repaired.
1. Lower door doesn't lock, barely stays closed and has a 1/8 inch gap with a breeze blowing in. We had to sleep with our bedroom doors locked in case anyone or anything just gently pushed the door open. We used pool cues propped against door for piece of mind. I have pics.
2. Used condom and empty condom box found in lower king bedroom closet. Have pics.
3. No hot water in lower bathroom. I called and someone was sent out. Cartridge was found to be broken. Plumber was sent out without notifying us several days later as we were out being tourists. I had the cabin key. I asked them to resend plumber next day and we left keys in lockbox every day thereafter. Never came back. Busy or upset we weren't there?
4. Upper king shower door was hanging by one roller over tub. I found roller and lower guide and reattached as best I could to avoid having door shatter in tub. Have pics
5. Lower fireplace doesn't work. I called it in and no one ever came.
6.Door closest to upper fireplace, handle came off in my hand. Pushed back on. Still very loose.
7. There are 5 televisions in cabin. None of them are connected to any service. March madness in full swing, couldn't watch a single game.
8. Upper king bathroom fan/vent needs replacing. Making loud grinding noises. Have pics
9. Bottom drawer of oven can't be opened. Something blocking it. We tried but can't be opened.
10. Handle in upper king bathroom shower came off in my hand. Luckily was able to reattach.
11. Upper queen shower cartridge will need replacing soon. You must adjust handle repeatedly to get to a comfortable temp.
This cabin could be absolutely fantastic. But it appears owner and/or maintenance has left this go to crap.

I booked my daughter & son in laws…

I booked my daughter & son in laws honeymoon and it was a great experience. Amy the team helped me find just the right cabin and it was perfect for them. We have been staying with them since 2024 and plan on a long relationship of renting and staying with this company for future rentals.

“Don’t Even Ask!”

“Don’t Even Ask!”
I should have known that any company that has this statement on their website, numerous times,
would have bad customer service.
To start our vacation, we couldn’t even get in the front door. The code to the door had never been changed from the previous occupants. And with no cell service on the top of a mountain, it took 30 minutes for us to contact Blue Mountain Rentals and for them to give us the old code – Not OUR code (AKA phone number), but some random phone number.
Then not even 24 hours in to our stay, the house was hit by lighting. Took out half the lights, the WiFi, TV and the Hot Tub. Again, back to no WiFi and it’s Saturday. So trying to explain our issue to a call center in another state, with the calls continuing to drop was a nightmare. They did call back and left a message, “If you need anything else, please give us a call back.” Even though nothing had been resolved! We waited until the heavy rain stopped and drove down the mountain to get cell service.
We were told someone would be out, but not sure when. We spent that evening with no lights on the main floor, no hot tub and no WiFi which means no cell service, no TV, and no internet
The next day they still had no idea when someone would be out. We took off for hiking. We had to leave the door unlocked bc we had no idea if they would be given the correct code.
I got a message at 4:30pm saying the hot tub was fixed, but the rest couldn’t be fixed at this time.
Get back to the cabin, and No, the hot tub wasn’t fixed. The repair guy probably just flipped the breaker and it reset it, but as soon as the hot tub was started it shut down again. So obviously he didn’t check that!
I understand that the lighting was an act of God, but the customer service was from Hell!
And then there are the beds. Absolutely the worst beds Ever. ALL OF THEM. I tried all three. We’re not big people, but my husband and I could not sleep together because the beds sunk in the middle. Same with the couch. Felt like we were setting on the floor. Just incredibly cheap furniture. This is obviously a corporate owned house. There is no way an actual owner has ever stayed here! Thank goodness we were only there for 3 nights.
I gave the property 2 starts because the view was great and the kitchen was well stocked.

Do not book here if the amenities…

Do not book here if the amenities matter to you.

We specifically chose this property because of the hot tub. It was one of the primary reasons we booked and justified paying a premium price. Upon arrival at check in, we were informed the hot tub was frozen and completely unusable. It had several inches of solid ice in it, which makes it very hard to believe this was some last minute surprise. That level of neglect does not happen overnight.

The issue was not just the broken amenity. It was the handling.

We called the after hours hotline. No response.
We followed up. No timeline.
No technician. No urgency. No meaningful communication.

For the entire stay, we were left in the dark.

When you pay nearly $3,400 for a winter stay at a property that markets a hot tub as a featured amenity, and that amenity is unavailable the entire time, that is not a small inconvenience. That materially changes the value of what you booked.

The house itself is nice, which almost makes this more frustrating. With basic pre arrival checks and basic customer service, this could have been avoided or at least handled professionally. Instead, it felt ignored.

After the stay, the compensation offered did not reflect the loss of a core advertised feature or the complete lack of responsiveness while we were on site.

If you are booking because of the amenities, understand there appears to be little verification that they are actually operational before guests arrive. And if something goes wrong, do not expect proactive communication.

Extremely disappointing experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY/NIGHTMARE

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. there to many honorable companies that do what they say they will. This company ruined 2 days of our vacation nothing but chaos and lies with them. On our way there we were told the home we rented the amenities we rented the house for did not work. After trying to call numerous times left numerous messages to find out what they were going to do. Finally, was texted and told by Joanie that management had approved to reimburse us 500$ plus tax at check out since we paid 3400$ for a place and the amenities were not working. That was the 1st day all day TRYING to talk to someone since we were not getting what we paid for. Check in the house its dark unload unpacks after all day on the road. The next morning luckily, I did not fall when we woke up there was water coming from the ceiling puddled in the kitchen, I took videos and pictures. Went to the blue ridge cabin rental office in banner elk, at 9 spoke with Lisa showed her the pictures We could tell right off I don't think she really cared we told her about all the issues we had and she didn't seem to care told us she had to get a hold of maintenance would get back with us. Went and had breakfast lunch, walked all over Boone finally i was emailing texting asking what the heck he had groceries etc. what was going on was finally told we had to move house could not stay there so finally around 5 we got a code to a new house they gave us 4 to pick from 1 on had all the amenities we wanted. We went to house we rented repacked and loaded and moved to the new house the beds were hard as a brick the furniture not near as comfortable as what we had rented but after blowing 2 days of vacation we were tired of dealing with poor management. When we went to check I asked Joanie when we would get our reimbursement and they really should do more none of this was our fault and 2 days blown they WOULD NOT give us another night for the problems. She said management would only approve 20% off 1 night REALLY RUIN 2 DAYS OF OUR VACATION AND NOW WILL NOT EVEN DO WHAT YOU TOLD US YOU WOULD. UNBELIEVABLE. I had numerous conversations with Joanie and supposedly the customer care team who told us they would take care of this. ITS FEB AND NOTHING WE STAYED JANUARY 6.-15TH I HAVE ALL THE TEXTS, EMAILS, PICTURES AND VIDEOS WHERE WE WERE LIED TO. I AM GIVING THEM TO END OF THE MONTH TO DO WHAT THEY SAID IN THE TEXT AND EMAIL THEY WOUDL DO BEFORE I TAKE LEGAL ACTION THIS IS JUST WRONG AND THE WORSE RENTAL COMPANY. I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS. AGAIN YOU SPEND 3400$ FOR A VACATION AND YOU GET THIS.

Renters beware and understand the…

Renters beware and understand the pictures you see online are no guarantee that the property you rent has a full propane tank, is clean, stink bug free, all appliances working, heat on all floors working, fireplaces, etc. I rented The Grandview in Boone and except for the view, I was extremely disappointed in my stay. I was shocked at the condition of that property during my stay. But couldn’t do much about it because the contract you sign and the thousands you pay do not guarantee anything except that you are renting a house. The contract protects Blue Ridge, their property owners and not you or your pocket. It also prohibits chargebacks and refunds.
You are lucky, if everything they put in the listing is in working order. Customer service team is great. Too bad they’re ineffective at really solving any problems. The couple of days we rented were hell. One whole floor was freezing because the propane tank was empty. One of their own employees admitted they knew it was empty a full week before we rented it because it was on the inspection report done four days before we arrived. We were promised everyday during our stay, they were coming out with the propane and of course none was ever delivered. I had to clean up spider webs and stink bugs all over the house and manage an active stinkbug infestation that was right over the dining room table in the middle of the house. Stove and oven weren’t working properly, fireplaces not working, and because no the first floor has a propane heater, no heat on the first floor.

Blue Mountain Rentals was fully aware of all these issues with enough time before we got there and addressed none of them They rented the property to us fully knowing we would have no recourse because of that excellent contract they have.

Matney Ridge Estate

Our family recently stayed at the Matney Ridge Estate in Banner elk North Carolina. This was our fourth time to stay at this home. This house has wonderful amenities and suits are growing family so well. We were very disappointed at the overall appearance and lack of cleanliness of this home with our recent visit. There was mold in the bathrooms, shower handles fell off, biofilm and sludge in the dispenser drip pan on the front of the refrigerator. Accumulated dust on the stairs, blinds hanging at the window windows, as well as kitchen chandeliers. There was an issue with the fireplace and the upstairs and downstairs filled with smoke. We had to open windows and doors for cross ventilation. Some family member started to feel sick.
I hope these issues are resolved as we would love to continue our annual visits to the Matney Ridge Estate.

Repeat Happy Customer

We have been staying at various cabins in the Valle Crucis area for many years through Blue Ridge Mountain rentals. We have had a great experience every tine. The cabins are clean and comfortable and we love the location. The customer service is outstanding and pricing is competitive with other rental platforms and options. We come here twice a year and always use Blue Ridge.

Blue Ridge Rental Preps Well

I've used Blue Ridge Rentals several years in a row now and they're always professional, helpful, responsive on questions, and disappear into the background when they need to. Every house I've been to has been cleaned and prepped well, I've usually not had to dip into any supplies I brought myself for the starter packs they give. Their checkin and checkout instructions (and directions to the houses) are also very straightforward.
Overall, I highly recommend them.

This home is absolutely beautiful. The main floor has 2 masters and an elevator. We took both of my elderly parents and our adult Children. We felt right at home. Highly tecommmed this home and Blue Ridge Rentals.

Owner of a rental property review

As an owner of one of the rental properties that Blue Ridge Rentals manages we are pleased with their performance. They are very attentive to our needs and always helpful to get things done for us since we live so far away. We try to maintain the home and with BRMR help we are able to get several 5 star reviews. We would highly recommend their company.

Cute house, poor management

The house was a very cute cabin with great views and a location that was very convenient to both Boone and Blowing Rock. It had a well-equipped kitchen and a great grill and hot tub.

Our only issue was with the rental management company. They called us on arrival day to let us know that the area had received a lot of snow and that they had a worker at the house who was concerned about the driveway. Apparently, the rental had a gravel driveway and couldn’t be plowed, but we were told that there was a parking area at the top as long as we didn’t mind walking down to the house.

Well, we showed up to the house after dark and were very confused because there was definitely no parking area at the top; just a neighbor’s driveway on one side and a guard rail immediately on the other side and an insanely steep driveway covered in 6” inches of snow. After driving past the house a few times, we realized there was no other option but to try to back down the crazy steep driveway, just enough to get our car off the main road, which was a harrowing experience.

We spent the first hour of our vacation shoveling ridiculously deep snow off the driveway around our car so that we would have some hope of getting out of the driveway the next day.

We were pretty confused, because the snowy driveway was pristine and had no tire tracks or footprints, so obviously no one had been at the house for many days. Also, when we shoveled out our car, there was a regular asphalt driveway, so it should have been treated and plowed. We’re not sure if they called the wrong person or what, but the information they gave us was not accurate.

We called the following morning and were assured that the house was on their plowing schedule, but no one ever came to plow the driveway during our stay. Even with AWD, we had some frightening experiences slipping off the driveway trying to leave each day, which was not great with tiny kids in the car. All in all, it was a pretty stressful experience and we wouldn’t rent from this company again.

Enjoyed the rental, customer service lacking

I enjoyed the home we chose. Very clean modern and great views. We ordered for our drive way to be salted and shoveled as even with the proper vehicle, guests were unable to get up to the house. I asked for wood and wasn’t told that my fireplace didn’t actually require it. I felt like the customer service over the weekend was unhelpful.

Could not access rental cabin

We arrived at our cabin. We had 4-wheel drives. Got to the house but the driveway was covered with 4-5" of snow. One in our party found shovel and shoveled a portion of the driveway...then pure ice. We could not take the steps into the house as each was covered with 5-6" of snow. We could not get into the basement of the house due to the ice. Blue Ridge Rentals said they would try and get sand brought out or dry ice. They could not. We could not determine where to park 3 vehicles..website stated 4 parking spaces. We tried until dark to get into the driveway and house. Could not. We called Blue Ridge Rentals and they could not help We could not get to the house from the driveway with our luggage and food. After dark we booked 3 hotel rooms near Appalachian University. Due to the graduation event our cost per room for the hotel rooms was at much as the cabin. Blue Ridge would not refund our money paid. We stayed in almost constant communication with Blue Ridge Rentals.

We had a wonderful time going to…

We had a wonderful time going to Tweetsie and Snow Tubing at Beech Mountain. The cabin was centrally located between the two. The cabins view was beautiful! We felt so at home and had everything we needed at the home! Will love to come back next year!
